As disappointing as the writing for Meher has been, I have to say the writing has been very impressive for Abeer. I remember during the episodes where he tried to win Meher over and was drinking himself silly to drown his sorrows, many wondered when it would end? When would we see a matured Abeer, well now we have our answer. The day Abeer learned the truth about Ishan, it changed everything, all those antics, the drinking it all came to an end. It was as if he went through a complete transformation where nothing else mattered but his son and proving himself to be a better person than the man who hurt Meher all those years ago.
When Abeer learned the truth about Ishan, he could have reacted in the worst of ways by insulting Meher, threatening custody or even the forced marriage we speculated about but he has done no such thing. Abeer instead is taking the time to bond with his son, just spend quality time with him while being his friend, his confidante. I really like that. To see this type of growth to his character is much appreciated, it helps moving the story forward instead of going around in circles. It will also help in the long run by not only bringing Abeer closer to his son but to Meher as well because he is showing he will never hurt either one of them, at least not intentionally he has indeed learned from his past mistakes.
