Among the girls, apart from nandita i never really identified with any of the girls....silkina seemed sensible for the short while she was there, and pooja too acted gracefully and maturely, but i always suspected her real intentions to be on the show....but apart from these 3 girls, i could not even stand any of the girls much...suchitra got on my nerves from day 1, maybe if priyanka varshney would have been given more time on the show, she could have been good, seemed like a nice girl....but didn't get to see her much...vrinda, gurpreet, both full of themselves, and had a air of over-confidence, and attitude issues, both of whom lacked even the basic manners and decency to talk to elders, amrita was okay, swati again never liked her, and the finalists...ahh well...the less said the better....both seemed desperate to me, to win the show, to get married on the show...as if , outside there would be no chance of them getting married....atleast pri kept steady with one guy throughout, but after declaring her love for a guy on national tv,it was disgusting to see rumpa jump ships so quickly, she kept saying, " ab gaurav nahi hain, gaurav ke jaane ke baad"...and i said to myself, sheesh lady, gaurav isn't dead, he's just outta the show, you can meet him once u r out of this hellhole....urghhhh๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคข
Coming to guys....
Vivek seemed like a sweetheart, but right away i knew he was gonna face a problem, connecting with a girl on the show, simply because, his age difference with most girls was around a decade.....the only girl suitable for him age wise was priyanka, but they never even considered it for a moment. ๐Ÿ˜•
Hitman, I absolutely could not stand from day 1, he seemed, like a arrogant brat, bade baap ki bigdi aulaad type of guy to me....i never liked him, and he atleast to me came across like a loose charechter guy, who lusts after women....maybe i'm wrong, but most women have a 6th sense abt guys, and mine told me, that he's a bad boy....๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคข
Rajvir, the greek god.....oh my god, when i saw him first on the show...i could not believe my eyes, that such a good looking guy was gonna be on the show....but i was turned off when he started to speak....he comes across as jittery, under-confident, and not at all eloquent when he speaks....ideally for me pooja was he only takkar-ki gf, but she was wayyy too classy for him..so other than looks, it would have been a complete mismatch....when he choose pri, i was literally weeping inside, and i'm not even his family, so i can imagine how his family must feel, u know their gabroo jawan has selected this girl-next door, who literally they could have found just right next door....why did he need to go on a tv show to find her???/ but i guess that's why they say love is blind....his lack of commitment always bothered me, and i just hope that pri isn't totally heartbroken after this, because, anytime a guy and a girl are called a couple, it's the girl who loses more in the bargain...always...
Yash...aah yash...the dreamy, svuave, debonair yash......i really liked him ...right from the 1st day....right from the moment they showed his intro on screen, with him horse-riding, he looked like a prince....for one he was HOTTT....and a man of few words...that made him all the more dreamy...contrary to popular belief, i don't think he was ever in love with gur, he was simply attracted to her, because she was practically throwing herself at him....i was very impressed the way he handled the gurpreet situation, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.....but still maintained his own and his mom's dignity....kudos...๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘.
Gaurav....The one guy who was complete husband material on the show.....very well educated, well-settled, intelligent, good-looking, mild-mannered....i could go on and on....his mom seemed wierd to me....but he was a guy with a firm head on his shoulders...it was shame...the channel wanted to go the hindi film love story route, and he was eliminated early on....anyways it was the show's loss...not his...๐Ÿ˜ณ
Among the mom's the hitmom, was horrible...exactly like shashikala, of the olden days, supermanipulative, controlling, and over-the-top....but yet i found her wierdly entertaining......๐Ÿ˜‰
raj's mom was a sweetheart, but lacked a backbone...kept shifting between girls, finally gave up and settled for pri.....
Vivek's mom too a sweetheart, cultured and totally adorable, she'll make a great mil....but one problem with her was, she never took any interest in any of the girls, there was a reason the mom's were put in the house...it was to help their son's select girls..she never did that....had she suggested something to vivek, u never know..vivek might have found his match on the show..,,,๐Ÿ˜•
gaurav's mom...as i already mentioned i found her totally wierd....i can't pinpoint as to why...but i did.....๐Ÿ˜›
Yash's mom...my fav...she is a mixture of my own mom, and my mil, quiet, reserved, and simple....doesn't like to poke her nose in other's business.....a little stubborn at times...but overall certainly a good person....i respected her a lot......and think that she had to take a lot of crap on this show for nothing....she was being made a villain by the channel, just for entertainment purposes.....but kudos to her, for taking it all in her stride....๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
Lastly, i will miss this show, yes, but i will miss this forum even more....i'm gonna have withdrawal symptoms for sure the next few days......๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

what a long post ๐Ÿ˜†
agree agree agree!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Nandita rocked!!!!!! I could relate to her on many levels. She could a teach a thing or two to todays girls
Gaurav was a perfect husband material!
Yash ๐Ÿ˜ he won my heart the second they showed the horse riding scene. I love horses and horseriding!!!

Furthermore, the show supported the notion that a woman is incomplete without a man. Any female on the show, who wasn't paired with one of the potential kunwars, was eliminated, neglected, or sat and watched the show from the sidelines, without being considered a serious candidate for the Perfect Bride title. That's a horrible notion, and unfortunately, this show pushed for it. I'd go as far as to call this show sexist. If you weren't throwing yourself at a guy and weren't chasing after one, you, apparently, didn't possesses the qualities of a Perfect Bride. ๐Ÿคข

Among the girls, apart from nandita i never really identified with any of the girls....silkina seemed sensible for the short while she was there, and pooja too acted gracefully and maturely, but i always suspected her real intentions to be on the show.... I agree, these three were definitely my favorite, and as much as I loved Pooja on the show, one cannot deny her underlying agenda to be on the show. It wasn't until I saw her appearance on Clowns Mill Gayye that made me question her authenticity. but apart from these 3 girls, i could not even stand any of the girls much...suchitra got on my nerves from day 1, maybe if priyanka varshney would have been given more time on the show, she could have been good, seemed like a nice girl....but didn't get to see her much...vrinda, gurpreet, both full of themselves, Just curious as to why you think Vrinda was full of herself? I definitely agree with you, with regards to Gurpreet, who was not only ill-mannered, rude, but downright repulsive. However, I always found Vrinda to be innocent and bubbly (although blunt at times, but never crossing her limits). and had a air of over-confidence, and attitude issues, both of whom lacked even the basic manners and decency to talk to elders, amrita was okay, swati again never liked her, and the finalists...ahh well...the less said the better....both seemed desperate to me, to win the show, to get married on the show...as if , outside there would be no chance of them getting married....atleast pri kept steady with one guy throughout, Well that's primarily due to the contract she had set up with Rajbir. ๐Ÿ˜‰but after declaring her love for a guy on national tv,it was disgusting to see rumpa jump ships so quickly, she kept saying, " ab gaurav nahi hain, gaurav ke jaane ke baad"...and i said to myself, sheesh lady, gaurav isn't dead, he's just outta the show, you can meet him once u r out of this hellhole....urghhhh๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคข My sentiments exactly!!!! She spoke of Gaurav as if he wasn't a part of this world anymore. I mean, if you love someone, and enough to declare your love on national television, which is quite a bold step, then surely you could wait a few weeks to be united with your loved one, but nooooooooo, she got desperate and greedy, and jumped at the first guy who paid any heed to her. It's such a shame that a calculating, cunning, threatened, insecure, and evil natured girl ended up becoming 'perfect' in the books of many. I sure as hell hope that no one actually puts her on a pedestal and uses her as an example of what a 'perfect' bride should be.
๐Ÿ˜• I don't think the age was as big of a factor as was his personality. Sure, he was sweetheart, and definitely the most mature out of all the men, but his introvert personality, and his inability to defend himself against the gawar goon, Hitesh, hindered his chances severely. I initially thought that he would have trouble because he wasn't as dashing as Yash or Rajbir, but that notion was quickly dispelled when I saw a few girls showing interest in Hitesh. ๐Ÿ˜†

Hitman, I absolutely could not stand from day 1, he seemed, like a arrogant brat, bade baap ki bigdi aulaad type of guy to me....i never liked him, and he atleast to me came across like a loose charechter guy, who lusts after women....maybe i'm wrong, but most women have a 6th sense abt guys, and mine told me, that he's a bad boy....๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคข Although I always found him to be repulsive in terms of looks, I did like him initially. He always seemed to be joking around and pulling the other guys' leg, and it was entirely entertaining to watch. However, he soon transitioned from a guy with a relatively great sense of humor, to a gossip monger, who would beat up anyone or anything in his way. His desperation for getting married on the show, and on the show only, made me think that he's got a lot of skeletons in his closet that he's hiding.

My sentiments exactly. When the kunwars were first revealed, my jaw nearly dropped to my feet. I mean, he looked like every girls' fantasy, but the minute he opened his mouth, he was a complete turn off. ๐Ÿคข While I admire the fact that such a good looking guy didn't encompass such a large ego, arrogance or attitude, he seemed more introvert than Vivek, and definitely suffered from low self-esteem issues. Your comments about him choosing Priyanka had me rolling, because that's exactly what I thought. I couldn't bare the sight of beauty and the beast, and I actually loved Rajbir's dad, who made no effort to hide his true feelings for Priyanka, and how she wasn't a decent match for Raj. I mean, forget the show, but this dude could have gotten ANY girl in India (and beyond), yet, he used the show as a means to find girl who barely resembled one? Plus, this whole 'love at first sight... your my soulmate' crap from day one made me want to vomit uncontrollably. Therefore, I came to a very valid and proveable conclusion; Raj and Priyanka knew each other from before, and had thus made a plan to become a hit jodi on the show and win the said title. It ALL makes sense. Besides, he put in NO effort to convince his father for Priyanka. I mean, he had all these weeks leading up to the marriage, where he could have called his dad, sat him down, and work things out, but nooooooooo, he finally thought of this idea on the day of his Goddamn wedding.

Needless to say, I couldn't agree more. Although I always found him to be extremely good looking, I originally thought him to be very arrogant. It wasn't until the entire Gurpreet debacle that my respect grew!

Now that everything is said and done, please share your thoughts and experience, on the show as a whole, from day one to the psuedo marriage, the eliminations, the breakups, the hookups, the conspiracies, the politics, to Rajbir's andey ka funda, and of course, Hitesh's gunda gardi.

The Good

  • The show had a great concept, though far from original, but it did encompass the concept of two of India's biggest (and best) reality shows; Rakhi Ka Swayamvar and Big Boss. It sounded great on paper, although it was plagued with flaws (see The Bad).
  • Nandita-- by far, the most deserving candidate of the show. What a breath of fresh air, to see an educated woman, who not only speaks her mind, but actually has a backbone and a spine. She's independent, smart, and cultured at the same time. She's the only contestant, worth being idolized.
  • Gaurav-- again, I'd say he's the male version of Nandita; smart, sensible, logical and humorous. I think my interest in the show began to waver when he left.
  • Yash-- well, if it wasn't for PB, how would I have found my perfect groom, aka Yash? *fangirl squeal*.... Despite what many here claim about him, that he's a mama's boy and that he wronged Gurpreet, I find him to be very sensible and logical. It was clear that his mother was not going to accept Gurpreet as his daughter in law, and instead of leading Gurpreet on further, he stopped himself from walking on a path that did not exist.
The Bad
  • All female contestants, other than perhaps Nandita, and Silkina, are pathetic examples of what a Perfect Bride should be. All of them were here for fame, and donned a psuedo personality to impress the men and their mothers. Despicable.
  • The fact that Hitesh and his mother dominated the show, without any interference or a voice of reason from either the channel, or any of the contestants.
The Ugly
  • The fact that this show had no idea what it's point was. I was always under the impression that it was an aid, of some sorts, for a woman looking for marriage. It was, originally anyway, meant to be a platform for potential bahu's to showcase their personalities and their talents, and pick a mate whom she could spend her life with. Instead, the show's concept was clouded by domination and politics, and it seemed that if you were not paired up with a man, you were somehow incompetant and not a candidate for a Perfect Bride. Never was it established that marriage on the show was compulsory. It's Perfect Bride, not Perfect Jodi, and I know it's not Perfect Woman or Lady either, but in order to be a Perfect Bride, one must be a Perfect woman first. Neither of the two finalists had any qualities that would be fit for a 'Perfect Bride'
  • The show was a set up from day one. Priyanka and Raj knew each other from before, and probably did not have marriage in their cards, but still used this show as a platform to test their luck and propel their fame. I, for one, think that Rajbir's dad was sensible and DIDN'T do anything wrong. Whatever he said on the phone, was absolutely correct. Call me old fashioned, but that's what any sensible parent would have said. He doesn't know Priyanka. He doesn't know his family. How can he decide on a partner for his son without knowing the person in question? What he said about meeting each other's families outside the show was perfectly sensible and logical. I don't think Priyanka and Raj were ever serious. I mean, Raj NEVER tried finding out why his dad said no to Priyanka?! OH WAIT HE DID. ON HIS FRIGGIN' WEDDING DAY. He knew his dad didn't agree, then why did he keep Priyanka in the loop until the day of the marriage? Was he expecting a miracle to occur? And Priyanka, without the slightest hesitation, agreed with Raj and followed in his foot steps. Right. SETTTTTTTTTTTT UP.
  • Rumpa
  • Hitler
  • Hitler's Mom

I have much more to say, but I'll leave it till now.

exactly what i said in one of the other posts and someone told me it was said before that there was going to be a wedding.. i remember when the show started it was all about PB not perfect couple and thats why we voted for a girl and not a couple.. ridiculous how they changed it once they felt they could squeeze out a wedding and make it history

Rox,
Before I get on, would like to say that I will miss you guys and your writing the most, ๐Ÿ˜ณ not the show.๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ
Thank you for some really wonderful posts. My sincere and hearfelt appreciation๐Ÿ‘
And now, my twenty cents hahaha
1. My overall comment
I am an Indian, and therefore somewhere, I value my nationality and how my county evolves and is being represented quite a lot.
In a nation that is desperately fighting hunger, poverty, corruption, gender discrimination, segmented society, and terrorisom (all of the above ills in no particular order, because they are equally horrendous), it matters what we as a nation beam onto popular sentiment and viewership.
At a time when we are rapidly losing sense, security and values, the last thing we need is to be time and again shown some horribly regressive serials and reality shows. All this ...under the guise of popular entertainment.
This and only this is my only grouse or gripe against this serial. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ
At a time when girl foetuses get killed, the last thing we need is to watch girls being eliminated only because they didn't suck up to a man or his mother ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ....or even horrifyingly so, didnt have the right curves, eyes, colour or features.๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ
Can anything be more terrible than this for a woman?
Separately, it hurts when audiences over the world, such as the forum here, from different nationalities watch Indian serials on televison or the internet, and then make hurtful comments or laugh about the crap on Indian television and its stupid values.
It hurts when someone who has no idea of a nation of a billion plus all encompassing culture and democracyn that is India,.... disses us... just because we, the people, under the greed of TRPs and sponsorship are busy showing regressive customs, which frankly a lot of Indians dont believe in or are desperately fighting to change.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
And now .....something about the show itself.
2) The Show
You and Mechoholic ๐Ÿ˜ณ have brilliantly put the points and I agree totally with them.๐Ÿ‘
The only place I differ is that any truly self respecting and dignified person will never be a part of this. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ I mean come on, have we not seen enough reality shows to know that ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ.
If Gaurav, Nandita and Yash (who frankly, in that order were the only people I liked๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ) are intelligent enough, then they ought to be sensible and intelligent enough to not be on this show.๐Ÿ˜ณ
After all this is not "Kaun Banega Karodpati", or a Quiz programme.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
This is a voyueristically crafted, cheap reality show.๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ
So then why are they here??.....Beats me.๐Ÿค”
3. As for Hitesh and Rumpa
Frankly, I am happy for them....yes.......because.....
a) if they are really good and love each other (as some of the people here claim).....then why not they get married๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
and, alternatively
b) if they are really that bad (as they are projected on television).....then all the more good as rather than spoiling the lives of two other innocent spouses, they are marrying each other.๐Ÿ˜†
4. About the girls, boys and all
There is a thing in life, which is .....value, experiences and soul are things no one can take away from you. ๐Ÿ˜ณ Every thing else is transient.
In another week, some of us will be avidly watching the new Star Plus reality show on music, or Dance India Dance.
The money got from this show will end after paying taxes and celebrating or in any case one fine day.
What will then remain for all the participants and even the winners, is just thier own life.
And that is where ALL of the girls have lost it in some way or the other, Coz fame travels with unarranted attention and skepticism.๐Ÿ˜ณ
In a country where arranged marriages still rule the roost and when a girl's dignity is above all, have the Rumpas, Priyankas and others considered what happens next if these guys dump them......
I hope that never happens, but if it does,.......its sad.
5. Good Luck๐Ÿ˜Š
Last but not the least, a word for the members here....๐Ÿ˜ณ
Whatever our likes and dislikes are and motivations are......we are people first.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Many a times I have seen people loosing their cool and humanity ...only to prove a point about a contestant whom most of us dont even personally know.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Why????.....is it so important to support a TV participant that we forget that the people writing here are also just as real as us.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
That and only that is the real take -away from this forum๐Ÿ˜ณ
That we are people first. When God made us different, how can we expect others to be like us.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
So why not give them that basic respect they deserve.
Why build that bad karma by burning up in anger and loathing.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
This serial and everything associated with it is just not worth it.......at least not more important than our own values and sense.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
And in any case, we all have the TV remotes......Hahahaha......dont like it change the channel.
As I always do๐Ÿ˜ณ
Thank you all.
And Rox......great post๐Ÿ˜ณ

Kasturilover! I have been searching for your posts on this forum, but alas, no avail! At last, we meet again! The feeling is mutual. I always appreciate your sensible posts amongst a hord of fangirls! I surely hope this isn't the last I see of you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can anything be more terrible than this for a woman? That was wonderfully, even beautifully put, and I wholeheartedely agree. The show only reaffirms the regressive and sexist notions that are already circulating the society. Wouldn't it have been so wonderful if a totally non-conventional type of girl (a career woman, with a strong head on her shoulders, who may be a little over weight, or a little on the darker side) won the show? It would encourage every nameless, faceless woman, who may already be suffering from low self esteem due to the shallow standards imposed by our society. It's so sad, India has progressed so far in terms of technology and its economy, yet, the mind set (the majority anyway, or atleast reinforced by the show) remains implanted in the medieval times. Other than being somewhat decent looking, did Rumpa possess any qualities of a 'Perfect Bride'? She has neither class, nor integrity, or any self respect for that matter. It's so sad that someone as dignified as Nandita got the boot, simply because she didn't adhere to the politics set out by Hitmom.
Separately, it hurts when audiences over the world, such as the forum here, from different nationalities watch Indian serials on televison or the internet, and then make hurtful comments or laugh about the crap on Indian television and its stupid values.

Yes, but if you had the right intentions, then I don't see a problem. Although, these three should have known that this show was no place for reality.
This is a voyueristically crafted, cheap reality show.๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ

My point exactly. I mean, if you're married to the guy, by all means, feel free to s lobber all over his face on national television, but the acts will carry its ramifications wherever you go. If, and when Rajbir dumps Priyanka due to his dad's wishes, does she honestly think anyone will marry her? 'Priyanka nahi tho koi nahi' is a scripted dialogue for this show only, and no way will either of them adhere to their vow.
