B4 Manav left with twins to Kyanada Ovi-Teju were over 1 yrs old as they had celebrated their bday...On the same day Soham was kidnapped by Varsha.

Archana adopted a little newborn may be 2-3 months old baby after Manav had left for Canada. So how can Purvi be older to Ovi-Teju?
The fact abt Maharastrian culture is to call elder sister Tai is not true in PR case. Purvi never called Ovi-Teju Tai. Purvi called Punni Tai. but never to the twin sisters...
For Purvi her rishta to male members of her Aai's family mattered..Manav baba, Sachu dada, Soham dada...Never the sisters as Tai...My POV ofcourse..

The twins were a year old when they went to Canada, Purvi was abt 6 months old when Archu found/adopted her on the same day...so shes abt 6 months younger than the twins, she didnt need to call them Tayi and Archu never asked her to...they were much closer in age than the age gap between Purvi and Punni or Purvi and her brothers.

Good point, maybe it's because she never had a male member in her family until she was much older. Good bit of psychology there!

But I'm assuming with Teju it was never tai because they got to know each other as friends before sisters?

I know this is bad but I have an aunt who is a year older than me, she married my uncle. I'm from the Gujarati culture so it's assumed that I would call her 'Chachi' but because she's so close to my age I don't call her chachi at all. Whereas I have another auntie whom I've known all my life, shes three years older than me and I call her 'Foi', she's very uncomfortable with it but because I've said it all my life, if I didn't say it then I would be uncomfortable. But that doesn't mean I'm disrespecting the other auntie, it really depends on circumstance and time too.

I agree it is mutually understood relationship. My point is with maharashtrian culture elder sister is called tai and by that Ovi-Teju both would be Tai for Purvi.
Look how Mansi may be 18 mo or 2 yrs younger to Ankita but she addresses her as Tai. I rest my case..Purvi has been selective in relationships.
I can also understand lack of male existance in Purvi's life would make her want more with Manav Baba, Sachu dada & Soham dada, but my point is one can't pick and choose family members who one wants relationship with...You either take all or none when it comes to A Family..
I am from Gujarati culture and my personal experience. My bhanji by marriage was 18 mo elder to me who was raised by her Nani & mamas (my husband's family) ...When I married into the family it was her choice and insistence I do not address her with Ben...and As I was younger to her she would not call me Mami...I believe in following protocols. Once that relationship boundries are crossed the respect is lost and that happened..No matter what at the end of the day she forgot we were the Mama-Mami whose family had raised her and she must have the respect..
So again it is per each experience...But in our gujarati culture we always address elder ones with Bhai or Ben with respect...Once even our own children grows up and gets married we address them with respect...Not by TU but Tame..😃
