Pavitra Rishta Written Update 15th October 2013-Completed

Ankita shouting, I passed, I passed, jumping with joy, getting wet in the rain. In Canada, Archu telling stories of unseasonal rains in Mumbai to Pushti.

Ankita spreading out her hands in the rain, enjoying and smiling.

Archu telling Pushti, Here in Canada there is no rain like that! That only happens in Mumbai.

Ankita dancing in the rain in Mumbai. She suddenly yells, UMANG!

She runs to her friend, they hold hands and run on the road.

Her friend says, Ankita, its raining! Do u know unseasonal rain always brings some good news!

Ankita laughs, Good news has come, I passed, Umang, I passed!

She hugs Umang and both girls dance in the rain.

Canada

Wedding Anniversary party is over. Purvi is strolling near the stage in the garden, lost in her thoughts.

Teju instructs a waiter to clear the bar and comes to Purvi, who asks Teju: Didn't u sleep yet?

Teju says, when you were giving ur speech, u were thinking abt Arjun, right?

Purvi denies, Teju, what are u saying?

Teju says, Purvi, don't think that nobody knows whats going on in ur head! Everybody knows u still think abt Arjun. And they want you to forget him! And theyre correct too, why don't u forget him and those days? The day when you...why do u still remember it? Purvi, what Ovi did with you, I hate her!

Purvi interrupts, Teju, I don't want to talk abt what Ovi did to me, it doesn't mean anything to me what mistakes she made. For me my parents' support is more important! They cut off all relations with their own daughter for my sake! Teju, u don't know how lucky I consider myself that I got such parents! Otherwise there are some children who never get their parents' support! They shatter and break, good upbringing, good values, they don't get any of that!

Mumbai streets

Soham is pretending to be blind and begging on the streets, with the help of his youngest daughter, Sonu.

Sonu is saying in her cute little voice, There is no earning member at home, Im hungry, please give me some money, Kaka...please give money, Im hungry...

Ankita is crossing that street, she sees her father and Sonu begging for alms, shes shocked!

She marches upto them, grabs Sonu's hand and pulls her away. Soham opens his eyes and looks at Anki. He has gray hair and beard.

Anki glares at her father furiously. Soham gets scared and runs away.

Ankita picks Sonu up in her arms and leaves.

Canada:

Purvi is telling Teju: I was an orphan but due to Bappa's blessings, I got such good parents! Otherwise there are some kids who are orphans inspite of having parents.

Mumbai chawl:

Prashant is yelling at his dad Soham, who is eating vada pao at the table.

Prashant: Have you fulfilled any responsibilities of a father? You didn't give us good upbringing, good education, on top of that ur spoiling our lives! We have nothing to eat and ur sitting there and stuffing ur mouth?

Soham is gorging on Vada Pao. Mansi and Sonu watch him hungrily.

Prashant yells, You don't have any shame? What kind of father are you? You were making this little girl beg on the streets to pay for your liquor?

Soham with stuffed mouth, drawls drunkenly, Shes just sitting at home, if she earns some money begging on the streets then..

Prashant shouts furiously, How dare u say that? And listen to me carefully, these are my brothers and sisters! If I have to sell myself on the streets for their sake, then I will do that! But I wont let u make them do bad things. Don't dare to enter this house in future!

Soham still busy eating, says, Why are u shouting? This is my house! Youre saying MY house, my sister, Im their father, I have a right on them and their earnings. Shes not doing me any favors. Im just eating...

Prashant yells, Rights! You only understand rights, not responsibilities? Do u even know, these kids haven't even eaten yet? You may have given birth to us, but I brought them up! Arey, u left us in the rains on the road, it was Tayi who rescued us! If it was upto u, you would have sold us to get money for ur liquor! Don't even think of calling yourself our father! Go now! GET OUT!

Prashant grabs Soham and pulls him out of the chair. Soham shakes him off and says, Yes, Im going, Im going, what daily drama you're doing...

Ankita is watching all this with an angry face! Soham stumbles and staggers out of the house. He stops, turns and tells Prashant, Im leaving now but I will be back, this is my house!

Prashant clutches his head in fury and runs towards Soham to push him out of the house. Soham staggers down the stairs of Sulo's old house. Neighbours stop and stare at them.

Prashant yells at the onlookers: Whats the matter? Is this a show?

Ankita comes to Sonu and explains to her softly, Sonu, never go with that person ever again!

Sonu nods her head. Pranav also comes there. Sonu says, Tayi, Baba told me he will buy me a dress for Fancy dress competition. That's why I went with him.

Ankita hugs Sonu and says, Whatever u want you tell me, I will bring it for you! Don't go with that person anywhere again, don't listen to him ever again! Understand?

Both Sonu and Pranav nod their heads. Mansi takes the younger kids inside.

Prashant rages, I don't know what kind of man he is...how can someone treat his kid like this?

Canada, Purvi's home

Purvi is sitting on a sofa looking at some files.

The butler Albert brings her coffee, she thanks him and asks where was Pari?

Albert says in shudh Hindi, Madam, shes in her room. She came home at seven.

Purvi looks exasperated: What will I do with this girl! She stays awake all night and then she sleeps all morning! I will see what shes upto..

Purvi goes to Pari's room. Pari is at her computer (its not Charlie Chauhan but some other actress)

Flashback: She suddenly remembers Arjun working on the sofa with a pen in his mouth just like Pari. She goes upto him and takes the pen out of his mouth: Arjun, what are u doing? Come on, leave this...she tries to snatch the file away from him, hes protesting, One minute, Purvi, its important.

But she doesn't listen, keeps the pen on the table but Arjun tells her he will come in a minute.

FB ends, Purvi goes into Pari's room, she caresses Pari's hair, You returned? You work all night in office, in the morning also working at home? Come on, go sleep.

She pulls Pari's hand, she rubs her eyes and says, No Ayi, I have to complete this detailing, grandpa had told me I have to submit this final quotation today.

Purvi pats her cheek, You wont listen, will u? Youre just like ur dad...

She stops, Pari looks at her, then gets up.

Pari says, Like who? Ayi, again u mentioned that guy! Ive told u so many times, don't mention him! And ur telling me I remind u of HIM? Ayi, please don't tell me this in future!

Purvi gets distressed and rushes to Pari, she holds her arm: I understand ur feelings but hes your Dad! You shd call him at least once!

Pari says, Not again, Ayi! Why do u go on saying the same thing again? I haven't seen his face till now and I don't want to! The way he treated u, I can never forgive him for that! What kind of man is he? First he married ur sister! Then he divorced her and married you! Even after that he kept up relations with his ex wife! Ayi, I have no place in my life for such a person! I will never consider him my father, and don't force me abt this, please!

Purvi looks sad, Pari holds her hand and softens her tone: I only know you, I want to be like you! You, Aaji, Ajoba, this is my only family! For last 20 yrs, u want me to call that man, but since I grew up a little, I have been saying no. And Ayi, I have heard so much abt that man, that I cannot establish any relations with that man even if I want to...and yes, that sister of yours who spoiled ur whole life, the whole family hates her! These two people are the ones I hate the most! And I will always hate them! I am going to sleep now...

Pari leaves, Purvi looks helpless. She thinks: I don't want to force u to meet Arjun, but beta, I also don't want a daughter to stay away from her father because of me!

Mumbai- Sulo's house porch

Soham is sleeping on the porch in a drunken sprawl.

Neighbours are complaining, a woman says: Oh God, what to do with this guy! As soon as its night his drama starts. If we try to tell them, they start blaming us instead!

Her husband says, these people will never reform!

Wife says, Look, how hes snoring here!

Ankita was looking out through the window she hears the neighbours talkingShe comes out with a blanket and glares at the neighbours, who leave then. She covers her father with the blanket.

Soham wakes up and kicks her: Hey what are u doing? Go bring a mattress!

Anki looks sad and angry, she goes inside to bring a mattress. But Prashant snatches it from her and lies down on it himself.

Ankita says, what are u doing? Give me the mattress, I want to take it outside.

Prashant starts reading a book and coolly says, Tayi, u want me to study naa, look, Im studying..and anyway, working people need mattress to sleep, jobless people don't care if they sleep on the ground or mattress...

Anki still pulling at the mattress, Prashant tells her, Look whats written here, out of all Chawl people 80 percent of them live in poverty and dirty environment. Do u know why? Because their father is an alcoholic and gambler. Instead of father doing something for his kids, here kids are spending their life looking after the father.

Ankita says, Prashant, this is written in ur book?

He says, No, I said it just like that! Such realism cannot be found in books, can only happen to people like us in real life. Kids' greatest enemy is their father! Here theres always the tension that father may sell one of his kids to get money for his liquor!

Anki sits down and tries to cheer him: Prashant, let it go! See today my result came out! Tomorrow I have an interview for a job. To be on the safer side, I have applied at 5-6 other places. I know I will get a job somewhere! Then all these tensions will also end!

Prashant says, Tayi, in other homes, dads earn and feed their kids, and here we have to feed this guy!

Ankita tells him to keep quiet and go to sleep and reminds him he had promised her when she gets a job, he will resume his studies. She tells him to stop roaring and go to sleep. And she told him Shashank also to give him tuitions from tomorrow.

Ankita pulls at his mattress but prashant lied down on the mattress saying its going nowhere.

Morning at Soham's house

Anki hanging up clothes in the porch. She sees Soham sleeping all sprawled out on the floor, he stretches one leg out of his lungi, hes wearing shoes and socks on his feet.

Anki looks around in embarassment and calls him, Baba! But he keeps on sleeping.

She goes inside calling everyone, Come on!

She sees Pranav brushing his teeth. She yells at him that why is he brushing after bathing, he has to go to school so he must hurry!

Ankita rushes around the house, calling everybody to hurry, she goes to the bedroom and coddles little sister Sonu, saying Arey my baby is ready!

Sonu is wearing school uniform, she asks, Tayi, today we will go to Bappa's temple, right?

Anki who is tying her hair, asks Why? Sonu says its Tuesday! Anki says, So?

Sonu says, whenever u have something to ask for, Bappa gives u!

Mansi comes into the room after bathing. Anki asks Sonu what she shd ask for from Bappa?

Sonu tells her to ask Bappa for a job! Anki laughs and kisses Sonu saying, Okay my baby, I will go..

She hurries Mansi and rushes to kitchen to make tiffin and breakfast for everybody. She yells at Pranav whos still brushing.

She packs the kids tiffins and hurries them up. She says Omaa as Sonu drops something, she puts tiffin boxes on table, gives Prashant his poha, then puts tiffin in Sonu's backpack.

She calls Pranav who comes running, without pants. Anki scolds him that hes so old and cant put on his pants? She puts on his pants for him.

Ankita tells Prashant to go to school and find out abt admission formalities, so that he can resume his studies. Prashant doesn't reply so she yells at him if he heard her or not!

A new guy enters the house, Anki's friend, Shashank. He says he will go with Prashant and help him with the formalities.

Sonu runs to Shashank yelling Bhaiyaa...and they clap hands then he gives her a candy. She thanks him and tells him to take Tayi to Bappas temple. Today is Tuesday and also Tayi's INTANBUE (interview)

Anki looks amused, Shanky promises to take her. Anki gives the kids their backpacks and asks Shanky to help, tells Mansi to go to college on time and lock the house properly, she and Shashank take the kids to school.

Mansi tells her to have tea, she says she will have it in the evening. Shanky says lets go to temple first.

Shanky says, its Tuesday lets go there..

Anki tells him, Shashank u know naa that I don't believe in God!

Shanky asks Why?

Anki says, if there was a God, then today my siblings would not be living in this condition. This is my father!

Shanky looks at Soham sleeping drunkenly on the porch. Sonu suddenly runs in yelling One minute!

Shanky says, Today try praying for once! Who knows maybe u will get a job? Anyway if u get a job then Prashant will be able to study. You want him to study right? So try just once!

Anki agrees because of his request. Sonu brings dahi shakkar (curd and sugar for good luck) from inside. Anki is pleased and amused, she takes it and thanks her little sister.

Anki tells Shashank she has a condition that today he will pray on her behalf. Because she knows God wont listen to her but maybe He will listen to Shanky? Shanky says this time God will listen.

Anki calls Sonu , they say bye to P and Mansi, Prashant tells Shanky to take Anki and make her pray at the temple. He knows Anki doesn't believe in God still...

Anki and Shanky leave with the kids.

Canada

Purvi is writing in her diary: 20 yrs have passed! Since we separated. Life has gone ahead, today Im in Canada with my daughter. Im not happy but Im alright. Once again today Pari reminded me of Arjun and I asked her again to call Arjun. And once again she got angry with me! How will I explain to her that Im also suffering. When I ask her to call Arjun, I feel as much pain as she does when she hears her father's name!

Whatever Arjun did with me, I will never forgive him, Arjun's lies, his deception, his betrayal, I have carried that pain in my heart for 20 yrs! Every night before I go to sleep I write in this diary, every moment spent without Arjun I have written down in this diary. I have never hated anyone in my life as much as I hate Arjun. Perhaps because I have also loved Arjun the most in my life! I saw him for the last time 20 yrs ago. After that I never met him or talked to him! But in these 20 yrs there wasn't a moment when I didn't remember him! Even now when I write my diary at night, I still feel that somewhere its morning and Arjun is with his new family. Someone is waking up Arjun lovingly, hes happy there with everyone!

Mumbai: Kirloskar house

Alarm rings. Arjun reaches out and stops it. He chooses a white and blue suit and wears it. He puts on his glasses and calls someone to give him breakfast. She says shes getting it!

Arjun tells her to hurry as hes getting late for office.

Purvi is writing in her diary: Out of Purvi and Ovi he chose Ovi, the day I saw him with Ovi and her baby, I knew from his face that Arjun gave my place to Ovi.

Arjun at breakfast table, a plump girl comes and serves him food.

Arjun looks at the piece of burnt toast and tells her: This is great! Today u burnt my toast again! Very good! But u know what, I will still have it! I will still eat it because I love you!

Arjun eats the toast with a pained expression.

Purvi writing her diary in Canada: Arjun is happy in his life. I don't want to disturb him! Only one thing bothers me, I couldn't give Pari her father!

Arjun says, Today is a very important day for me.

The girl says, I know Papa!

Arjun: Come on, wish me luck!

He bends down, the girl kisses his cheek (they don't show the girl's face)

Arjun says, Aah...happily.

Purvi thinking: Now its morning in Mumbai and night here in Canada. Just like its morning in Arjun's life and night in my life! Night forever!

Purvi cries, a single teardrop falls from one eye...

Purvi smiles and says, Arjun don't change the topic by saying all this! Tell me honestly, who is more beautiful, me or Aayi?

Arjun looks cornered, he says, No Im not evading the issue, Im saying out of u and Ayi, most beautiful is Pari! The most lovely girl in our all 3 generations!
