Dear Vasu,

You are spot on about the Mylapore Kurukkal, but from what I remember, his hair would have been far more orderly, swept back in a nice, neat kudumi (top knot for men, for non-Tamilians).

Poor Asha indeed, as far as the hair goes, but what is it with that squeaky, grating, baby voice she produces for her chirpy scenes? It is same regardless of whether it was with Arjun then or is with Onir now, Listen to her as she insists on the vada pav - it is frightful, and I felt .like clouting her good and proper. And later, at the table, when she is teasing Onir, it is the same, artificial and very irritating. She cannot blame the production team for that!

Plus, and this is for Purvi, not Asha, that kahin na kahin about her galti in getting Onir's licence cancelled quite took my breath away!

Shyamala Aunty, After a hectic couple of days at work, I got some time today to run through the two days worth of pavitra (!) at one go. The watch was worth the wait I would say, as I could recollect your musings when the drama was unfolding !! And you would be amused that instead of being engrossed in Purvi's facial expressions, I was analyzing Purvi's crowning glory, the frontal (curls and all) vs the rest of it with a fresh pair of eyes!. It certainly reminded me of the Pillayar temple's Kurukkal back in chennai.😆 Poor Asha is all I can say.

Well, Vasu, anyone can be excused for feeling terminally exasperated with PR most times, but there is a little confusion re:Ovi and Pari.

She dreams that she hears the baby crying; waking up that and getting up to attend to the baby has become second nature to her and she cannot shake it off. Next she goes to the wardrobe and finds the Lakshmi pendant and chain that Manav had given the baby saying that she would bring khushi to the house and family, It is in this context that Ovi says that Pari has brought not khushi but maatam (mourning). She is not calling the baby names, she is just stating the obverse of what Manav was predicting, I think it is quite natural.

When she goes to the Kirloskars to pick up her documents, she is not expecting to see Pari crying; that at once triggers off the same reaction and she races upstairs. If, as I had mentioned in my post, Arjun had had a bit more of commonsense, he would have slipped away quietly, leaving Pari, who recognises Ovi at once and smiles at her, to charm Ovi back to the old state of play. It just might have happened, Instead, he handles it in the worst way possible and puts her back up. It is like the last time when he babbles to her of Purvi';s great sacrifice. With such an idiot in action, what Ovi then does is entirely predictable.

For Purvi, just as her mother was more important than Arjun earlier, salvaging Ovi's marriage is now more important than Pari. She is quite consistent in her priorities. Next, now, she has neither the place nor the resources to to keep a child with her. Plus, she seems to genuinely believe that Ovi's heart will melt one day and she will accept Pari fully. She might well be correct.

Lastly, a downstairs neighbour of ours in our building, who works full time with her husband in their family business, has full time servants to mind the kids, but also CCTV cameras in all the rooms.

And Sakhile, no, nannies/ayahs are not in such short supply in Mumbai that such a rich man cannot rustle up a top notch nanny thru a reputed agency.

As for how he and DK ran successful businesses, the skill sets for that are different (even those seem to be failing Arjun now and he is running his business into the ground), but surely they can get this problem solved easily. Any competent personal assistant would be able to produce a certified nanny in a day.

And now the fool has managed to lose the baby in a park. He will now go bleating to Purvi, or at least to her cellphone. As you can see, I have no sympathy for incompetent idiots.

DK is now stuck between a rock and and a hard place, so his desire to get Ovi back is understandable. What I fail to understand is how the Ds expect Ovi to accept the child of her husband and another woman, that too his (ex??) flame. Her grandpa even insists that Pari is her daughter. It is idiotic.

Exactly. After watching last couple of day's episodes, I feel Pari is better off with good experienced nanny than with Ovi. Haven't they heard of video cameras that can be monitored 24 hours a day? When Arjun and Manav are shown to spend so much time outside work (in the D-house and in hospitals ), can't Arjun take few minutes of his time at work every now and then and check on Pari through his web cam? Lot of my colleagues do that while leaving their babies with the live-in domestic helpers.

On a more serious note, I could not understand Ovi's attitude and behavior towards Pari in yesterday's episode. In one shot, she finds the baby's cries (imagined) irritating and throwing Pari's anklets away and calling the baby names and in the next shot, she goes around and picks up Pari when she hears her crying. She scolding the servant of leaving Pari alone made me remember her reaction to Purvi's comments not so long ago. And drops Pari back on the bed when all she can see on Pari's face is Arjun & Purvi.

I would understand if Ovi is mad at Arjun for not grieving with her for their dead baby, doesn't want Arjun (and hence Pari) in her life, not love Pari like she did before, even be indifferent to the baby but to hate the baby and call it names when she knew the history of Pari, just makes her behavior irrational. Ovi is an adult who should know that it is no fault of the baby to be in this situation and it is just the unfortunate set of events, one after another that has led to the current state.

I understand why Purvi cannot be seen not to take the baby back till she is completely sure of Ovi and Arjun's married life but it equally repels me that knowing Ovi, how could she be willing to take the risk with regards to Pari. And that Arjun going on his knees and pleads to both the women so that Pari can have 'maa ka dood' ... Sorry for the rant but what a stupid show!

Dear Vasu,

You are, as always, admirably coherent and lucid. But I am afraid I have a rather bad attack of conjunctivitis, so I am dropping out for the present, and thus depriving myself of the pleasure of this debate.

Even without that, I am beginning to feel like an automaton, regurgitating old arguments with small new tweaks, like Novartis and the other Big Pharma companies trying to get new patents for miniscule 'innovations'

Plus, I really no longer give a tinker's cuss (don't ask me why a tinker, I have no idea!) what happens of Arjun, Purvi, Ovi or even Pari (who will be much better off away from this dysfunctional trio).

That leaves Onir, who is appealing even in his benighted folly of being wrapped up in his Mishti. They were amazed in another thread as to why he is not devastated by the loss of his licence. Well, he is, only he is not the kind to beat his breast and wail about it., like Arjun and Purvi weeping at every single sticky situation. The buried anguish wells up every now and then when he says that he has nothing now, and when he stops suddenly, when he is applying the antiseptic to Purvi's injured foot, after asserting that he is a doctor.

Besides, he cannot now start thinking that he was wrong in following his wife's instructions on the baby swap, for then he will really crack up, like a prophet who has lost faith halfway. So he has to cling to the belief that his sacrifice, including the loss of his profession which was his passion, was worth it because the person for whom he did it was worth it.,

As for the rest, they can go to the devil for all I care. Not that they will oblige.

Bye for now,and have fun on this thread, which is now beginning to resemble Hanuman's tail.

Dear aunty, Pls trust me, I have put myself in Ovi's and Purvi's shoes regarding Pari before defending them in a few posts that you may or may not have come across. Your sentiments are very similar to mine on why Ovi & Purvi would not want to take the baby now.

However, I was appalled at Ovi's attitude and behavior to the child and calling it naajayaz and the baby brought not happiness but mourning; As an adult she should know that Pari is in a bigger mess than her and if Ovi is honest, she too had a role in the state that Pari has landed up now.

So, what is Ovi angry about?
a) That Pari was the result of Arjun cheating on her? Nope, she knows that when Pari was conceived, Ovi was not in the picture. Arjun had truly broken off with her in every sense of the word. It doesn't matter if Ovi had not realised that then
b) That the truth was hidden from her before Arjun agreed to marry her? Ovi was no innocent bystander who was brought in to the matrimony with Arjun. The deal was offered just a day before marriage would mean that Purvi was in a big emotional turmoil and Arjun, poor guy, had only minutes to react to the news that the bride has changed in the last minute

Or would it make a difference if Ovi had known the truth (from Purvi) after marriage but not after an year? From what they showed of Ovi-Arjun's rocky marriage, the truth would have sealed the fate.

Anyways, I am a bit wary of this love-hate, hot-cold mood swings of Ovi's. She had done that with Arjun and from what I have seen, she will repeat with Pari. She can very well ignore Pari and not want to be a mother for her but to pick her up one moment and drop her off the next and her acting all 'wronged' with respect to Pari, sorry, does not gell with me a bit.

I may be harsh on Ovi but I have read and heard of many instances of the rape victims who had given birth to babies because of the brutal incident. They are mentally scarred, many young, their careers taken away, had to face the social stigma; it was no decision of theirs that the baby be brought into the world and the responsibility has been thrust on them but do they not love the children irrespective of whose face does the baby bear? Or of people who have adopted children, irrespective of their past and despite the parents having children of their own too ( recently happened in my family and god bless them!).

If by what I saw the forum's reaction yesterday, Ovi has turned around and instead of hating Arjun because of Pari, she has reconciled with Arjun for Pari's sake and all that in matter of days? Let me give her the benefit of doubt and see how the show shapes up this week. Meantime, lets blame it all on CVs!

Three questions on today's epi - has Purvi fallen for the good doctor? Why are they feeding each other? Why does Arjun leave Pari in the pram and walk away, is he an idiot?
Shyamala, your malaise has rubbed off on me, I care a tinker's hoot for these characters anymore, they are all stranger than the next.

Well, Janhvi, as for the first, one presumes so, at least in baby steps to match her baby voice.

As for the second, even in the far gone days when I was young and very much in love, I always preferred to eat under my own steam, instead of having food dropped down the front of my dress or smeared on my cheek because I moved unexpectedly. But here, it seems to be a litmus test for affection, and who are we to quibble?

Thirdly, I cannot imagine how, after my 'wicked' post of 2 days ago, you STILL have any doubts about Arjun being an idiot. I think his IQ is 58.😉 Now if Ovi had done that, she would have been tarred and feathered, but of course AK will have 80% of the forum weeping over his predicament. If he had looked even better, like Hrithik Roshan or the young Siddharth Malhotra of SOTY, the percentage would have touched 90. You and I are of course looking for a used pair of hobnailed boots!

Oh Shyamala, how I wish I had more time to read everyone of your posts on this forum. You are killing me. I think Arjun is definitely in the lowest two percentile of the netire world population in terms of IQ. If he is an example of a good businessman, is it any wonder that the world economy is in the state it is in?

My dear Sakhile,

What can I say but that I am deeply flattered! Thank you so very much.

Now, if you want an extra dose of pure entertainment, do watch today's PR in the telecast. There are some priceless gems that need appropriate resolution (in pixels, not sorting out problems, which never gets done in PR anyway). I am going to summarise it for you, and conjunctivitis be damned.

I am skipping the scene of Arjun losing the baby, and then mucking things up at the police station by antagonising the inspector with his highhandedness. It is left to Manav to smooth things over and give the details about his poti (I leave it to you to decipher the significance of this statement) to the police.

- The Ds are all sitting around like a congregation at a wake, mourning the disappearance of apni Pari. Now this is a manifestly incorrect statement, as she is a Kirloskar-Karanjkar, or K2, and not a Deshmukh by any manner of means, unless they have all now decided to gather Purvi to their collective bosom. But even Savita sports a double dose of glycerine in her eyes.

- Ovi comes in, looking very hep and with it in a salmon pink outfit, and when she hears the news, she duly registers shock by dropping all her shopping bags. A thali with something on it would have been more effective, as it would have clanged satisfactorily, but she is a practical girl, and makes do with whatever is at hand. After the specified 15 seconds, she coldly voices the hope that Pari's parents will get her back, and retreats to her room, while Savita, by now reinforced by Sulochana, mumbles, in a kind of sotto voce duet with her samdhan, that Ovi really feels very sad about the kidnapping.

- But the best is of course reserved for Ms. Mahaanta. First, she has premonitions that something is wrong with Pari, and to make sure that her patidev does not miss her emotional turmoil, she goes on pouring the tea into the strainer till it overflows.

When Onir, looking a tad exasperated for once, attributes his Mishti's agitation to their travails over the last 2 days, she will have none of it, and reacts as though he had attributed it to acidity and recommended Eno Fruit. No, she insists, you must call Arjun and make sure that all is well with Pari, and then alone will my maternal heart be at rest.

Onir, probably grateful that it was 9 am and not after midnight (as at the time he was similarly forced to call Arjun and babble about a checkup to camouflage his enquiry about the baby), is about to comply, when Arjun himself calls to convey the fell news. He does so, for once, to the patidev, not for reasons of propriety, but because he is afraid to call Purvi directly.

- In this, he is on solid ground. For, after registering shock with eyes open to their widest, Purvi, with her appendage, the hapless no-longer-doctor Onir, hares it to the Ds' place and pounces on the shrinking Arjun like one of the Furies. Summoning up all the reserves of mamta that she had laid by for just such an occasion, she lets Arjun have it with both barrels.

"I gave her to you with poora vishwas", she screams, shaking him by the collar, "and see what you have done now! Can you not look after ever such a small child! If anything happens to Pari", she snarls, "I will never forgive you!"

That she foisted the baby on the hapless Kirloskars without their knowledge is of course of no account. For Purvi, the truth is a foreign land, where she avoids venturing unless it is a case of force majeure.

I was waiting for one of her horsehair wigs to fly off amidst all this vigorous action, but the Balaji hair stylist (?!?) needs to be congratulated, for they held firm.

At this point she also demonstrates that she is Archana's maanaseeka putri, and more like her than her own daughters, by pointing one painted fingernail to within 6 inches of Arjun's face, exactly like Archana did in the dus hazaar rupiye kamaa kar dikhao scene. Arjun must have felt that he was receding into the past, except that Archana was much, much easier on the eyes than this bedraggled harpy who has him by the collar.

He literally cowers, as he tries to explain that he had left Pari only for 2 minutes, when he had gone 'to save the life' of another child (this is phenkna at its best, for all he does is to pick up a little boy who falls off his tricycle).

But the mamta ki moorti facing him will have none of it. "I don't care" she screeches, "I want my Pari back!" So much for the mahaan tyaag of her child, made for the bhalayi of the Kirloskars. It is obviously reversible whenever it suits her.

Meanwhile, Ovi looks on with lip curled fastidiously in faint disgust, and Onir hovers around the amar premis ineffectually, metaphorically flapping his wings. I felt like kicking him in his backside first, and then Arjun. They looked like Tweedledum and Tweedledee today, in their shared lallupan. Only Manav was the saving grace, as he watched the goings on as if it was a circus in action.

I will also omit the herogiri of Soham. and his dramatic entry carrying Pari, whom he has rescued from the clutches of Balan. It was not very interesting, except to prove that the whole purpose of this kidnapping jig was to effect a full scale rehab of Soham, and lead to his being reinstated in the hearts of the Ds and the only K who counts, Sulochana.

The downside of this is that Soham is fast losing all his cheeky charm, and bids fair to become another Sunny (he is goodlooking, so Jignesh is out). There goes one of the very, very few characters who made PR occasionally tolerable!😭

- Purvi promptly grabs meri beti Pari, smothers her in more kisses than Arjun had been lavishing on her since he found out that she was not the pedestrian progeny of his wife, but that of his sainted beloved. "Mummy will never leave you any more", she gushes significantly, as Manav regards her as he would a caterpillar in his salad.

Onir looks bewildered, very likely wondering how he is going to provide for a baby as well in that kholi, and how many more buckets of water he would have to haul up as a result of this addition to his menage.

Arjun was nowhere in the frame when this momentous announcement was made by Pari's official aai, so I am unable to tell you what he looked like, but I bet his face lit up with a blaze of sudden hope,

-
As for the immediate future, the solution that would be for sabki bhalayi would be for Purvi to move into the Kirloskar mansion to mother Pari, while Arjun hovers around hoping for better times, and Onir furnishes the third angle to this menage a trois, since he apparently cannot go back to Kolkatta till the good folks in his neighbourhood have run out of stones.

But this is unlikely to be adopted, as Purvi's sanskaars need all the fig leaves that can be rustled up. This apart, I do not have a clue as to what is to happen next;

- Finally, today's episode made one thing eminently clear. It would be pure folly on Ovi's part to take Pari, and her appendage Arjun back, now that Pari's asli aai has shown precisely how sincere she was in seeking Ovi ki bhalayi. She would be a perennial presence around Pari, sticking to her like a limpet, lecturing Ovi on how to bring up the baby, and alienating the child's affections from Ovi, deliberately or otherwise. Ovi will be left perennially trying to play catch up with Ms. Mahaanta, and being left behind, not only with Arjun, who is a gone case, but also with Pari.

She should pack her bags, send Arjun her divorce papers, and leave town with her pride intact, if nothing else.

Shyamala

Arjun seem the like the biggest loser boy here in PR.
he doesnt know where to stand firm n where to let go...

Ovi- the biggest spoilt brat that i ever came across,
She fails to keep in mind that the world isnt her own n she has to bend down a bit...
never seen such an ungrateful character before.

Purvi- thank god she aint following Archu's footsteps...
who would have stood their n cried n cried yet wouldnt utter a single word in her defense...

Sulo- dear you r getting old, pls dont exert that little energy left in slapping people...
hear them out first, that is better for u.

In the whole show the only person likable i find is Teju...
she is reasonable n know to deal in life.
n the best thing, she doesnt hurl insults...

is it really necessary to have a premarital sex issue in the show??

@ red. Ah, but my dear Sumu, you forget one crucial point. Archana was both VERY pretty, far more than Purvi even at her best, plus she had the vital talent, for TV soap actresses, of being able to cry buckets and still look gorgeous.

Now look at Purvi of late, with her horsehair wigs eternally askew, the clumsy sari, the generally unkempt appearance, plus a sadly distorted face when she screams or cries or both. She is a pain to look at, and as for her dialogue delivery, whether the squeaky baby voice when she tries to be chirpy, or the screechy one for OTT scenes like yesterday's, it is tough to take.

So, do not thank the Lord that Purvi is not like Archana. I wish she was. Archana never would have indulged in pre-marital trysts and produced a baby to boot (in our TV soaps, half the women cannot have a kid when they crave it, and the other half produce a kid when it is least wanted!). Purvi let me down so badly on that one that I am still to recover from the shock.

Aunty, you do have point, not 1 but many.

Pardon me
But here i wasnt actually talking bout appearance...
but yes archana woudnt have indulged herself in sleeping with someone before marriage.
n yes she holds beauty while crying too.
quite an art.

[must be waterproof makeup]😳

*wink*

any way or the other the episode was... Too dhamakedar!!!

P.S loved Onir's supporting nature.

Supporting doesnt only mean arguing in someones favor, but also you should stand by them silently,
giving them moral support.
