Thank you Shamayla Aunty, Kools di and all kc members for your appreciation and well wishes. Shamayla aunty and hillydi really enjoyed your posts on Delilah and Circe. There is a very interesting song by Regina Spektor that gives an interesting spin on the story. i thought about it when i saw the comparison between purvi and delilah. delilah had the guts to admit what she did was for money but purvi thinks too much of herself and her sanskars to admit that she destroyed arjun, ovi and now onir and pari's life for no good reason.
chinyere you are 100% right about sanskars. its not sanskari to drink during pregnancy, or be a gunda or try to separate your parents. but the thing is archana and manav's bio kids never give bhashaans about how sanskari and poojari pious goodhearted people they are. they are upfront about their flaws and they realise their mistakes and correct them. ovi regrets drinking during pregnancy and pari is her life now, sachu takes care of the family whilst manav acts like a devdas who lost his paro (archana), soham regrets mistreating his mother. but purvi literally has no regrets for her actions. she takes no responsibility of things that happen because of her stupid decisions! she pretends to be sati savitri but she's not. she is ruining people's lives and has no realisation of it. when onir married her he didnt know about her past and it didnt affect him but when arjun came back into the picture she either shud have told him everything and left him or stayed away from her past life ttly. instead she involved his life into this cycle of lies that she spun. as far as punni goes purvi harassed her saying that she shamed the family- it was not about her personal morals. well purvi did the same thing. whether it was for love or money the end result is the same. it is just as shameful for the family that purvi was an unwed mother as it wud b for punni. its not about with whom or why they had premarital sex but rather the fact that they did. it brings shame to the family. archana should not be anymore proud of purvi than manju shud be of punni. in indian culture premarital sex and resulting pregnancy is as shameful for a good middle class girl as it is for a prostitute.
it is human to err but if you are too self righteous to realize your error and use the tag of sacrifice to hide and perpetuate your mistakes instead of rectifying them within the limits of a human being then it is a problem. that means you are trying to play the role of cosmic forces in the lives of other people who have not given you that right. that is unacceptable.
