Chapter 4----Thoughts
Manav smiled at the young man before him. Arjun was still puzzling over why his parents had never mentioned that they knew the Deshmukh family.
"Well Arjun, have a seat" Manav gestured to his comfortable looking sofa. "Would you like some chai or perhaps a cold beverage?"
Arjun sat down but politely refused to have anything. "Thank you Manav, but I actually just had lunch."
Manav sat behind his massive desk and was about to start his discussions with Arjun when his cell phone rang. He looked at the number and smiled. "Excuse me Arjun; I need to take this call. It's my daughter and today is her birthday."
Arjun nodded and Manav turned to the window to speak to his daughter.
"Happy Birthday to the world's best daughter! How are you spending your day so far darling?
Arjun didn't want to be privy to the father daughter conversation so he got up to leave the room. Manav saw him and motioned for him to stay. He sat back down and was thinking random thoughts when suddenly he found himself thinking of Purvi. He wanted to know more about this angel. He was mesmerized by her beauty and her wonderful smile. He started to wonder where he would find her in such a large city. He just wanted to see her once again. This was strange for him. He couldn't stop thinking about her. "Pull yourself together old boy, remember Ovi!"
"I'm sorry Arjun, but did you say something?" Manav asked.
Arjun looked up and realized that he had spoken out loud. "Oh! Sorry Manav. I was just lost in thought. I didn't realize that you came off the phone."
"It's alright. So who is she?" Manav smiled.
"What?" asked a puzzled Arjun.
Manav smiled a knowing smile. "Son, when a man is lost in thoughts and starts' smiling for no reason it has to be a woman."
Arjun felt embarrassed and tried to cover it up. "What? A woman? Really Manav. I don't have time to think about such things. I'm a businessman first and foremost."
Manav knew better but said nothing of it.
Arjun pondered on Manav's words. He never thought of Ovi like he was thinking of Purvi. "What's wrong with me?" he questioned himself.
"Er, Manav? I am not really feeling well can we reschedule our meeting?" Arjun asked.
"Are you okay Arjun? Should I call a doctor?
"No, I'm just a bit tired."
Manav stared at the young man in front of him but simply nodded. "Alright Arjun. We'll meet when you're up to it. But I would like for you to attend my daughter's birthday party tonight. I've invited some business colleagues of mine and I'll like for you to meet them."
"Okay Manav, I'll think about it. Good day."
Arjun turned and left. He could've have kicked himself. What was wrong with him? He would never leave a business meeting incomplete. He headed for his hotel room. He tried to think about Ovi but it was Purvi who dominated his thoughts...
