Well said Shamala ! my hat's off to you. Get's carried away reading your comment.

From my observation I see that Purvi though being a Karanjkar for the last 18 years, she's not even an inch behaves like one and niether is she like the Deshmukh. She is so cool, calm & collected and obviously has her own style of handling matters from the beginning . She is a class of her own just like the Kirloskars. She fits very well into Kirloskar family - " Birds of feathers flock together" .
Look at both Karanjkar and Deshmukh, all the time hissing at each other. Even the 3rd generation (Ovi, Tej & sachin) , they are following the same footsteps as their ancestors. Thank god Purvi is adopted or else she may/may not follow suit.
Anyway whatever said and done I loved the bonding of Arvi, it's so lovely.

Dear Kalapi,

Of course the whole bail thing was cock-eyed and it could NEVER happen in real life. That was why I wrote that apocalyptic post about the mystery of the body in the boot, before the CVs reduced the whole thing to a farce.

It is my understanding that bail does not necessarily need a court hearing -otherwise no one could get anticipatory bail - and a magistrate can grant it after a personal application, I believe, if he/she is satisfied. I am not a lawyer either, but I think a court hearing would be mandatory if the police opposed grant of bail. Here, it would seem that the inspector is now convinced that Arjun has been implicated in this by sheer chance, and so he does not oppose the bail. Arjun's family background and the testimonies in his favour would have had a good bit to do with this perception, plus the fact that he can lay hands on him again easily if it should become necessary.

My post about the Indian judicial system had nothing to do with this, as you must have seen since you have read it. That was to in response to a very sweeping and generalised indictment of the whole Indian system based on a few individual instances of corruption.By that yardstick, no judicial or other system in any country would come out unscathed.

One cannot judge a country's police or judicial system basing oneself on a TV serial, can one? Any more than I would judge the US political system based on the apocalyptic films on corruption at the very top and extending all the way down, like Viewpoint and so many others.

Why talk only of the judicial system as it is shown here, almost every technical plot point in almost every TV serial is plain goofy, from the ubiquitous 'divorce papers', after signing which, the CVs would have you believe in most cases, the leads can merrily go off and marry someone else. Or the apparent belief that getting bail is the end of the story as far as the person involved is concerned, whereas it is most emphatically NOT the end, but only the beginning of what could be a most trying legal process. The number of bail cases trailing across the average TV serial is mindboggling. So, if viewers of PR or any other serial think that getting bail is so easy, or divorce, for that matter, it is their problem, or rather it would be if they ever ran into such a situation in real life.

And then, in BALH, they showed the opposite: a very serious charge against a very prominent accused, the wife of a top industrialist, ending in being sentenced to 14 years in prison, and the appeals to the High court and the Supreme Court apparently disposed of and lost in a matter of days! It was so laughable that I could not even laugh. The court proceedings were equally ludicrous - the defense could easily have proved that Priya Kapoor had NOTHING to do with the actual running of the company, and that it was Siddhant who ran it, irrespective of the date on the approval concerned. Nor could it have been a question of just one date and one approval for which Priya's sister could give Siddhant an alibi. This is not how any company works, any more than any "project file" could be as thin as the ones that are carted around in every serial. Any self-respecting project file would be a minimum of 300 pages after 2 months! And the number of contracts that OVT gets so easily after making a few presentations - how and by whom are these actually executed? Not by Purvi or Punni or even Arjun, that is for sure. It is all nonsense, and I would hope the viewers factor that in from the beginning.

I personally am convinced that sensible TV serial viewers the world over would not take this pap as a source of information on anything at all, except perhaps on the latest sartorial innovations, whether it is gorgeous evening gowns or Archana's backless blouses! Thank God she at least has a very nice back, otherwise it would be insupportable!

As for DK, you are of course fully entitled to your point of view (which is always the preamble before one begins to differ sharply with it!😉), but I am sure that he would have been keeping track of the situation, just as he was obviously keeping track of Arjun. and if it had seemed to be getting out of hand, he would have stepped in. Even so, in the real world, it would not have been anything like as easy as he makes it out to be.

For anything approaching realism in Indian TV serials, you would have to go to Yashraj's superb Powder, and the slightest less superb Kismat. Not to PR or any other of its ilk.

This said, I must tell you that I really appreciated your raising this very solid and relevant objection; it is a refreshing change from the norm. As for my post and the general rejoicings in the forum, they could be called childish, but I think they are genuine and have to be taken as such. After all, the whole concept of the forum is rather like that of the many Sherlock Holmes societies, that debate the Master's Canon (Arthur Conan Doyle's 59 short stores and 4 long stories featuring Holmes) with absolute seriousness, exactly as if Holmes and Watson were real life characters.

Well, Shyamala, I read somewhere that you vehemently talked/defending about the Indian judicial system against a post that I guess said something about the corruption in the system. So, reading your post today, I was a bit surprised. Yes, Purvi did get Arjun bailed which is great, but the process was anything but perfect I believe. She did not use the proper channel instead she used her personal judge to bail Arjun. The judge should be charged for conflict of interest, which is beside the point. But, the Cvs are in essence portraying a flawed system to the audience outside India, so can't blame members to have less than favorable attitudes towards the Indian system. And can a bail be produced on probably criminal intent without any court hearing? Well, I myself am not a lawyer, but found something wrong with the whole picture.

Coming to Dk, I found his attitude extremely unbelievable. He seems not to do anything becoz Arjun wouldn't like. Have yet to see a parent who will not jump to help especially in a foreign soil (really Arjun has only been in India for 3 / 4 months and and is being/ probably be charged under criminal jurisdiction. So, his sitting and talking to Archana calmly was unbelievable, my POV. I found his priorities were always wrong from the beginning from his relationship with Ashana, his not wanting any kids etc... anyways my 2 cents for what it is worth...

Dear jam,

I could not agree more with your observation.

I had earlier noted, after Archana's high decibel confrontation with Arjun, that he must have been glad that she was adopted, and thus could not have inherited these unpleasant traits common to the Ks and the Ds.

The Kirloskars are quite different, they have, as I never tire of repeating, class. And not just because they are rich. Manav is now very rich as well, yet see how he handled Arjun's awkwardly timed confession!

If you were really 'carried away' by my post, that is the ultimate compliment, and I am not just happy. I am elated!

My dear ss4123,

Do tell me your real name, I seem to get you numbers garbled time and again! I wrote it the other day as 1234.

Thanks ever so much for the very warm words. They, and others like them, are the reason why I sit up every now and then till 1 am or even 2 am to get my posts out, even if my poor eyes are in open rebellion against such overload, for the morning would be too late for those in the US. Or would it? If not, I can do these in the morning and spare my eyes. If you are US-based, do let me know, It would be a great help.

No, my dear, I watch only two other serials, BALH on Sony and Afsar Bitiya on Zee, and recently I restarted DEK on Sony, but that is happily on its way out soon, and I am not active on any of those forums. I find it increasingly tough to find the kind of time day in and day out that I seem to be devoting to PR, and what I need to do is to cut down on this, if only to spare my eyes, and not take on any more forums!

Wonderful analysis Shyamalaji, as always 😊! I am all smiles today😊!!!

Shyamalaji, your posts are such a delight to read that after watching the serial I am frantically looking for your analysis.. it not only brings a lot of relief to our troubled souls but provides us with an insight and fresh perspective to look into things more deeply😊.

I had a question for you though.. are there any other serials that you enjoy watching (analysing)...I might start watching them too...

Cheers,
ss4123

Dear bee5,

It is so good not only to have one's efforts appreciated, but appreciated with attention to the nuances. Thanks.

I agree with all the points you have raised, and you would have seen that I too have underlined Nos. 2 & 3. No.1 one is totally valid as well; if I was Purvi, I would feel that I was in a remand home.

Instead, the girl is back to apologising for her own existence as soon as she is back in the hospital room. And Arjun babbling about her aai's forbidding her to meet him - that REALLY got my goat.

No, we are not out of the woods yet, and as you would see from my response to Kalapi, the whole bail process as it is shown here is pure balderdash. But then we expect that from PR, don't we? All that matters is that Purvi is showing some backbone at long last. I hope it lasts, that is all.

Dear Shyamala,

It is a treat to read your write-up on the episode. You capture even the smallest little detail.

I too loved the scene outside the Police Station and their conversation. That was the best in the episode. The pride and admiration Arjun shows towards Purvi was too good.
And when she says "I mustered the courage and got the bail papers ready", he is listening to her with so much of encouragement and admiration. This scene reminded me of the airport confession when she narrates how she came in search of him and thought that she had missed him for her life. His reaction today was the same kind when she says "How could I have left you here" and he is listening to her nodding his head and all going "Awww my poor little girl, what all you did for me, I am so proud of you and no, I will never be far away from you".🤗

Now to what I did not like or found little dicey:
1. Archana's accusatory tone while enquiring about Purvi's whereabouts when she calls her on phone. She was like "we both left the police station at the same time, I did so much of other things like, went and talked to DK and am already back, so why aren't you back yet?" Meaning to say what the heck were you doing all this time! This reminded me of the scene where Archana drags Purvi by arm and says "You want to feed him right, come lets go together and feed him" (This scene happens after Archana summons Purvi back home when she had gone to deliver the dinner to Arjun on Sulo's insistance. )

2. Archana assuring Purvi that she did no wrong today and displaying "Understanding" of the action - that Purvi just did the same thing that Arjun did by saving Sulo. If Archana did understand this, then why Archana could not understand that her challenge was illogical and totally not required?

3. Archana telling Manav that I didn't wanted to hide anything from you. Hmmm .. 1st there are really a lot of things that she hasn't told Manav and then when she does tell she doesn't tell all the things properly. So, her statement today was like ... errr .. emmm ... whatever am I supposed to understand from it ?!🤔

Anyway, I too am waiting for a good interaction between DK & Purvi.

Still we are not out of the woods yet, Rahim has not gained consciousness and hopefully he will not be knocked off by the CVs and we don't know what is in store for us in future, but today, I don't want to hesitate in praising the CVs. "Give credit where it is due" was my thought when I wrote the "Thank You, CVs!!!" post. 😊
