I am going to preface this post by saying that anything can change at any moment according to the CVs whims and sometimes with a little nudge from the fans so really anything is possible.

I know everyone is upset with Purvi because of her lack of willingness to meet Arjun ' even if it's just a quick dine and dash (not the literal meaning of course) but I'm not upset with her and I think she's staying the course.

*** Laurie runs and ducks for cover. 🤣 Ok. I see this won't be an easy feat today but I'm not giving up either.***

Her behaviour maybe puzzling to some - hot one minute and frigid the next - but there's always a reason behind what we do. Let's review Purvi's dossier, shall we? 🤓

  • Archana took in (adopted) Purvi after she was orphaned and raised her like her own daughter after her children went to Canada. (The debt of a mother's love)
  • All Purvi's values and upbringing were instilled by Archana who we know to be a champion of disadvantaged and an advocate of the truth (we are not going into Archana's Deshmukh life here - that's for another post)
  • Until Arjun came into her life, Purvi has never disobeyed her mother and was always the dutiful daughter.
  • Even after Arjun came into the picture and gave Purvi such scorching treatment, Purvi stood her ground and fought him valiantly because it was the right thing to do (she also had her mother's support)
  • Purvi's 'chawl mentality' taught her (whether from her observation or Karanjkar ninja training) that falling in love was never an option for her. She was supposed to have an arranged marriage and then her life would be her children and husband - no mention of love or feelings.
  • Her mother's and aaji's feelings and well-being always comes first - bar none.

Now that Purvi has accepted Arjun's hand and made the choice to be with him what's changed? 🤔

  • The woman that took her in and raised her slapped her - very violently - three times for breaking her trust
  • Her mother has forbidden her to meet the man that is fighting the world to be with her - the man she also loves (we have not seen the depth of her love YET)
  • She is jobless at the moment. She tried to be professional and leave her job (the right thing to do) but now can't get a job because she can't reveal the reason she left.
  • She is trying to help Arjun through 'undetected ways' - via Churran ⭐️
  • She knows her love is suffering and she IS praying for him 👏
  • She even worked up the courage to tell her mother belatedly that what she was doing to Arjun was wrong - that took guts - however softly spoken. 👍🏼
  • She wants her mother's trust back and will do whatever she is told to get there. She's never been in this position before and with the other pressures her mother is going through she neither wants to add to it nor rock the boat.
  • She has the support of her aaji (A blessing from the heavens) and only through her insistence will possibly meet Arjun directly (disobeying Archana's orders)

So what now? 😕

  • Purvi wants her mother to be ok with her loving Arjun. They haven't had that heart to heart yet. Archana never gave her the chance to explain herself or to express her feelings. Archana does NOT know of the sacrifices Purvi's had to make to get to this point.
  • Once Archana has given Purvi her blessing that Arjun is a good boy then all bets are off.
  • Purvi does love Arjun, fiercely, and will defend him in front of anyone. She will not stand by and watch his character get tarnished. ⭐️

And this maybe the most important point of all...

Arjun doesn't care. He doesn't care if Purvi brings him hot tea or three meals a day. He doesn't care if she washes his clothes or cleans his room - only if she fixes his shirt buttons 😉 . He doesn't care if she comes to meet him at the garage because HE is on a mission. It would be a bonus but not a necessity.

He already knows Purvi is with him through thick and thin - they gave their hearts and souls to each other on that little bridge of happiness. He already KNOWS he has her support and anything else she does is just a bonus. HE doesn't want her to disobey her mother and get in trouble because he knows how important Archana is to Purvi and as he so sugarly put it the other day - he's never had a mother - and he is craving that love too.

He wants to be part of a family - not break one up - so he will support Purvi obeying her mother until Archana gives her consent. 👍🏼

All frustrations aside, we can't expect a complete defiant change in Purvi because it's not in her nature. She loves Arjun, she's accepted him, she's supporting him and the rest will be like icing on the monsoon wedding cake once Archana gives them her blessing. 😍

It's coming soon, friends, very soon - just hang in there! 👍🏼

*** Is it safe to come out now? I'm getting kinda hungry *** 🤣

Why can't the girl have it all...
Arjun's love and her mother's blessings ...both .She has faith in her love and of course in her mother's concern for her ...
Just give it a little time , that's it .The challenge of 10000 ruppees is really a very easily attainable one ..

Exaclty Tanya! 😃
She will have it all. It's like with everything else in life... it's all about timing.
The pieces are still being moved around the board and not all the enemies are known. Offense strikes first before the defense sets in 😃
She'll get there for sure AND she'll do it the right way! ⭐️

completely agree with you laurie.
when we can give arjun the benefit of doubt during his "main sab theek kardoonga" monologue than why not Purvi. Poor girl is crushed under the debt of gratitude, for her archu's trust is more important because arjun's love is definetly there for her no doubt.
think she is acting in favor of situation

Thumbs up for the optimism!! You do know that what u are saying is what we all want to happen. We all understand, ofcourse impatiently, her unending loyalty to her mother. We get that !! We know that she loves him and has promised herself to him. But, other than an occasional feeble protest with her Aai, we have not seen her passionately defend or even proclaim her love for Arjun to anyone yet. Whereas in contrast, you have Arjun, and I dont have to say anything :). This is something lacking in her portrayal of her love which doesnt convince us fully. So, we panic at every small reaction.
We, or atleast I dont expect her to defy her aai, but i expect her to atleast show some kind of regret that she is not able to go meet him. Today, it was just a pat answer. There was not even a sign that she wishes she could do it. That, disappoints us to the core.
The other day when the Queen mother declares that Arjun cannot do it, i didnt see even an expression of denial on her. Just a look of distress, that is all ..

I can go on like this !! I am gonna stop my rant for now.

I do hope that your optimism pays off and we see it happen :) but for today, I am not sure...

As u can see, i am not in a very understanding mood today :)

Other Forumites feel that CVs have damaged Purvi's character just like they did to Arjun's. But that is actually not true. Arjun was a go getter, never accepted No for an answer. so when he was way too soft with the Ovi engagement situation We felt the character damage. But Purvi has always been like this, so I never expected anything more from her. She has never gone against her mom. She just hid Arjun relationship from her Aai that too out of fear.
Laurie, I totally agree with her love, respect and commitment for Archana.
Today the situation is different, Arjun has given up so much for her and when her Aaji asks her to give the food, she should be more than willing to do that. She can always put the blame on Aaji. Instead she lectured Aaji saying "Oh I cannot do that coz it is against mommy's wish" which pissed us off.

Laurie,

Nice summarization of Purvi, the character.

Completely agree on all the point for both Arjun and Purvi.
For me too, Purvi, is still in my good books. She hasn't done anything WRONG yet (Thursday, July 05, 2012 3:39:40 PM (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada))

...and moreover these are the main protagonists (atleast of the young generation) of the daily soap and they have to be in this mold and they are.

Laurie,

Nice try, and argued at length, with amazing fluency and your usual eloquence, 👏👏👏even from the fox pit in which you were apparently hiding.

Your basic conclusion, that Purvi will never go against Archana, and will wait it out till (or if, more like it) her aai gave her the green signal, should make Arjun's heart sink. Though apparently it does not, as per you. You may very well be correct. He seems to be quite happy letting the engine of the client's car get flooded while he floats on a gentle tide or reminiscences (which stop at just the right moment, even for the forehead kiss scene!)

Well, it makes my heart sink.

As for your affirmation that "Purvi does love Arjun, fiercely, and will defend him in front of anyone. She will not stand by and watch his character get tarnished. ⭐️ ", I presume you have already built in the exceptions to this: first of all Archana, then Manav Baba, and then who else? Well, all I can say is that if she actually defends him anywhere at all, publicly and strongly, I will give you at least pass marks. But I have yet to see any evidence to back up this sweeping assertion of yours; you are like a savvy defence lawyer indulging in verbal sleight of hand, Laurie!

As I noted elsewhere, catch any kids these days, adopted or not, being so crushed under the burden of gratitude that they end up having spaghetti for a spine when the parent is concerned! Our sanskaari Purvi, however, defies this 21st century norm. One's heart goes out to poor Arjun. Fate is playing Russian roulette with him.

I agree with every word that you have written about Arjun. But that is the core of the matter. Arjun loves her, and Purvi lets herself be loved. That is all. I dare say she does love him back, but it is not with the kind of visceral emotion that will not be denied, and she probably never will. There is no room for any deewanapan in her makeup; it she had been Juliet, Shakespeare would have expired of a broken heart! But hey, if she, with all her reservations and sanskaars, is what Arjun wants, then that is his fate, and who am I to object!

But what I will not do it is to find excuses for the girl for whom he comes pretty much last on her list of priorities. I like spirited young women who will fight for what they want, and at least try to convince their recalcitrant elders when they are plainly in the wrong. What now is the difference between Purvi - behaving like a German motorist stopping at a red light at 1 am when there is no other car in sight for half a mile - and Archana, whose permanent location these days is apparently behind the kitchen door at the Deshmukhs', peeping out with tearful eyes? Nothing at all.

The curious thing is that if Arjun had been in Purvi's place, and he had held off her or even backed out because DK forbade his marriage to Purvi, he would have been pretty universally excoriated as a coward. Now when Purvi seems likely to do the same thing if her mother is set against Arjun, I am sure there will no voices raised in even much milder criticism. What is this but double standards?

So, dear Laurie, while I am all admiration for your superb thesis, I am not biting, and I vote with Jyoti and Vilasini.

And yes, it is safe for you to come out. I at least am not going to eat you!😉

Shyamala
