What do I say but thanks, thanks, and thanks again? I try my best every time, but when it gets past midnight it is not easy. Then I have this very time-consuming habit of polishing and fine-tuning the text; it comes from a lifetime of drafting political despatches and talking points for the PM and the External Affairs Minister, and earlier in my service, for my own Ambassador, and it is not easy to shake off! So I usually end up much later than Cinderella, and I am almost nodding. If you like my posts so much despite all of this, it is truly gratifying!
Yes, of course I have a soft corner for DK. Someone as effortlessly superior and so well bred is rare even in real life, and most definitely so in our TV soaps. So he is what one would call a pearl of great price. Even earlier in PR, I used to admire his invincible calm, and the way in which he used to dominate any group of which he was a part.
And yet, when he wanted to be assert himself, his voice would be as cutting as cold steel. I remember him telling Dharmesh, whose Bandra plot DK's firm had just then sold to recover the unpaid loan to Dharmesh, who is protesting strongly that DK cannot do this to him, "Main kucch bee kar sakta hoon". The voice was as low as ever, but it stung like a whiplash.
Naved Aslam, who plays DK, was seen in the successful Once upon a time in Mumbai (also an Ekta Kapoor prodction; it was really good), as Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgan)'s right hand man, Patrick. Also in the art film director Ketan Mehta's superb thriller, Time Bomb (2005), which is being retelecast nowadays on Zee at 2230 hours on Sundays. He is an Indian intelligence agent there, and he is very good, as usual, always radiating intelligence and total control.
@red: you are spot on, my dear. I hope the silly girl has enough good sense to realise this!

Another fantastic write up dear Shyamala. I read it over and over again because I just love your style of writing, so classy.
Had some deadlines to meet at work so couldn't connect earlier but here I am. First I'd like to say a big thank you for appreciating my 'interview' post. Sorry if some of them thought it was the real thing but sometimes when I'm loaded with work I tend to do such things to ease the tension.
Well! I see you have the 'softie' for DK eh?
But I'm still mad at him for returning so late and still feel he could have given some indication to Manav over the phone from Australia.
Well, the best news is Arjun and Purvi are back together?
As for the Deshmucks, they can sort out their problems behind closed doors. They have washed enough of their dirty linen in public already. Savita spoiled the peace of the neighborhood the very first day she arrived in India. Purvi should change her last name to Kirloskar asap, the name Deshmukh spells trouble!
