The divorce date will not be fixed the next day Archu leaves the house...it'll come sometime later.

I was thinking about this and what was said made sense initially but then I took a different view point which I think is the viewpoint of the character Manav.
Manav may be from the younger generation but his behaviour and thinking is very old school (maybe because he acted as the head of the house so early on in his youth). He is surrounded by housewives in his community and his family and friend circle. This role of the women is more familiar to him than that of a career woman. He does not see this as being an injustice to her but just a way of life. I do not think he intentionally expects his wife to be a bread winner. That would be a blow to his own ability to support her financially (which he as a husband would take pride in doing).
I think seeing her as a career woman might also be intimidating for him (knowingly or unknowingly). He wants to take care of his wife, protect her and provide for (outside of the Shravani element), anything else would be foreign to him. I therefore cannot think negatively about his inaction in this area.
My own experience living among lower middle class families, is that many a times (not always and definitely not if both the girl's parents are educated themselves) a girl is given a higher education so that she can find an equally or better educated husband. End of story. The intent is not the girl's professional development but, and I hate to say this, marriageable prospects. Most girls are not expected to use that education as a career advantage after marriage, unless they have their husband's or his family's blessings in this regard or their financial situation makes this a necessary option. In those instances, it is quite likely the girl will have a job not a career.
I knew several girls from lower middle class families who were fortunate enough to find progressive sasural's that were pleased with their education and their careers. But I noticed that, in middle class Indian society, this was the exception not the norm. Again, I could be wrong, I have been out of India for the last 12 years. Not sure how much has changed since then.

👏👏Very well said. This is exactly what happens in most middle class families.I just get a feeling this garage thing coming up,manav will gradually understand a career woman in a different light....the creatives can actually send across a good message to the middle class viewers effectively, how education and job should nt be restricted to marriage proposals only.Life is so uncertain and jobs are more so..if two people work ,atleast the chances of bankruptcy will be less

very curious thought that this did not come up athe mortage verification time.they usually check title, liens and encumbrances
@stillhopeful:What shud I call u?Creatives leave loose ends...did u see how easily they ended up breaking the FD...shravani's FD broken without her knowledge...get a life. This time, particularly after the garage prob,if Archu says she'll work,Manav may not disagree...even if he does, she can explain it to him...but for all this to come, first they need to tackle the divorce thing😃
