Part 3:

When Shiva came back to the kitchen after taking a shower, he saw his plate set out on the table with his food served on it already. As he got closer, he got a better look at the contents of the plate and his face immediately paled.

Meanwhile, Raavi observed him like a hawk, a giggle threatening to erupt from her lips. She managed to control herself by biting the insides of her cheeks.

"Yeh...yeh...tune jaan bujh kar yeh kiya? Haina?!" Shiva glanced at Raavi accusingly.

Feigning innocence, Raavi gave what she thought was a fitting reply. "Kya bol raha hai? Maine itne acche se tere liye yeh sab set up kiya aur tu hai ki mujhe aise bhoothnath waali aankhon se ghoore ja raha hai."

"Chipkali kahin ki. Mujhe sab pata hai. Ab samajh bhi aaraha hai ki tu mera intezaar kyun kar rahi thi. Tujhe bada shauk hai mujhe satane ka!"

"Issmein satane wali kya baat hai Shiva?" Raavi asked.

"Toh phir bata tune yeh baingan kyun banayi?!" Shiva narrowed his eyes.

"Woh aur koi sabzi thi hi nahi. Bas yahi tha. Aur mujhe laga tujhe mere haath ke bane hue baingan pasand hai." Raavi said softly, jutting her lower lips out, and lowering her gaze.

Hearing her soft tone, Shiva couldn't help but give up. He sighed and sat down with his shoulders slumped.

"Ek tere hi haath ka baingan main kha sakta hoon. Aur kisika nahi." Shiva stated before grumpily digging into his food.

He didn't argue with her. That filled her up with warmth as cozy as the sun. Raavi smiled from ear to ear after hearing those words from him. Shiva appreciating her food gave her an altogether different kind of joy. She couldn't describe it in words.

When Shiva was done with his plate, Raavi frowned.

"Bas itna sa hi khaya? Tu toh ek number ka bhukkad hai! Tera pet bhar gaya?" Raavi questioned in astonishment.

"Nahi."

"Toh phir tune aur kyun nahi liya? Ya phir mujhse keh deta." Raavi scolded him.

Shiva watched as Raavi continued with her chatter, scolding him animatedly while making random gestures with her hands. The sight ensnared him, and he made sure to engrave it in his mind.

"Shiva?!!" Raavi exclaimed, waving her hands in front of him. She had been calling out to him for the past two minutes but he wasn't responding. Ugh bhootnath!

When she noticed him staring at her, her words got caught up in her throat at the intensity dripping from his gaze. She clutched her dupatta with a fist, her heart thumping erratically, which was the new normal for her these days. Using her other hand, she slowly snapped her fingers in front of him, effectively bringing him out of his stupefied state.

"S-Shiva? Kya hua? Main tujhse kuch pooch rahi thi? Tune aur khaana kyun nahi liya? Matlab hum dono ko pata hai tera dinosaur jaisa pet bhara nahi hoga..." Raavi trailed off.

Shiva rubbed the back of his neck before continuing. "Tujhe yaad nahi hai kya?"

"Kya yaad nahi hai?"

"Maa ne kya kaha tha? Ki main utna hi khaunga jitna tu mujhe degi." Shiva answered.

Raavi looked at Shiva stumped. Her mouth opened to reply and then shut just as quickly. She drew in a shaky breath as she saw Shiva watching her with his chin propped up on his hand.

"Yeh toh kitni purani baat hai Shiva. Haveli ki baat hai jo mujhe laga tha hum wahi chhodh aaye the. Mujhe nahi pata tha ki tujhe yeh yaad hai, ya phir tu isse itni shiddat se follow karega..." Raavi spoke gently. She was both elated and surprised at what Shiva had just uttered. Elated because he unknowingly had given a right and a place that only she had in his life, and surprised because this was something that she herself didn't remember. Then why did he?

"Tujhe pata nahi hai pann mujhe tujhse judi hui har ek baat yaad hai, chipkali." Shiva declared, clearing his throat a little to clear the air of uncertainty that was now clouding his brain. He didn't want to scare her off, but when he saw her grinning at him like she had won the lottery, his heart eased into a rhythmic pattern.

Raavi patted his cheeks and beamed at him.

"Mujhe nahi pata tujh jaisa bhootnath bhi itna cute ho sakta hai. Tere gaal ko pinch karne ka mann kar raha hai." Just as Raavi blurted that out, Shiva pushed her hand away.

"Khabardar tune mere gaal ko haath lagaya toh." Shiva warned.

Raavi pouted at that. "Accha tu ruk yahan. Main abhi waapas aayi."

As Raavi walked away, Shiva's brain finally focused on her words. Chipkali ne mujhe cute bola?

When Raavi came back, she had a bowl in her hand. She placed it in front of Shiva and nodded towards it.

"Tere liye. Maine specially banayi hai." Raavi curiously observed Shiva and squealed internally at the spark that appeared in his eyes. Mera bhukkad.

"Shrikhand? Mere liye?" Shiva quirked up his brows but swiftly grabbed the bowl and dragged it closer to him. He had been craving shrikhand for the longest time. Did the chipkali have some sort of telepathy going on with him? He glanced at her from his periphery before taking in a spoonful of the dessert. He almost moaned at the taste. So good!

Raavi sat back as if it was the most natural thing to do. She wanted to keep him company until he was done. Maybe she also wanted to feast her eyes on him a bit longer. She hadn't seen him the whole day after all. With her palms resting upon her face, Raavi soon lost herself in the sight before her.

When Shiva felt a pair of eyes on him, he looked up to see his favorite honey-colored eyes watching him earnestly.

"Aye gadhedi, aise ghoor kya rahi hai? Khayegi kya?" Shiva asked.

Raavi sighed dreamily and nodded innocently.

When Shiva thrust the bowl in front of her face, Raavi scrunched up her nose in confusion.

"Kha." Shiva pointed at the bowl.

Raavi's eyes widened ever so slightly when she realized what she had been doing all along. She let out a nervous chuckle and pushed the bowl back towards him.

"Tu kha le. Woh mere muh se bas aise hi nikal gaya."

Shiva shot her a look of wonder before going back to his dessert. Raavi sighed in relief. Thank god he was so invested in his food. Raavi felt a blush creeping up her cheeks and stood up, clearing the plates. She went back to the kitchen and started cleaning up. Shiva followed her soon after and helped her in washing the dishes. While Raavi was putting the dishes away, she heard a clunk from behind. Looking back at what made the noise, she noticed Shiva staring down into a pot while the lid had slipped from his hand onto the counter.

Raavi nervously spoke out. "Shiva?" She started walking backwards immediately when his head turned towards her.

"Tune aloo gobi ki sabzi banayi thi? Lekin mujhe baingan khilayi?" Shiva asked in irritation.

Raavi smiled cheekily. "Dekh maine tujhe shrikhand bhi toh diya nahi? Gussa mat ho na. Main tujhe bhi kal aloo gobi khila dungi."

"Chipkali, teri toh..!" Shiva lunged towards her while Raavi squealed and ran towards their room with Shiva hot on her heels.

*****

The next morning, when Rishita went to Raavi to talk about an upcoming event at her new job, she found wads of cotton messily strewn across Raavi and Shiva's room. Rishita looked at Raavi with a questioning gaze while Raavi gave her a sheepish smile. Raavi mumbled something about a pillow fight before dragging her out of the room to avoid any more questions. On her way out, as she was walking across the courtyard, Raavi found Shiva preparing to leave for the store. She couldn't help herself and asked Rishita to wait for her while she walked towards him.

"Oyee hero!" Raavi called out, approaching him with a Cheshire cat-like smile.

Shiva almost cracked a smile at that. Almost.

"Kya hai?" Shiva asked grumpily.

"Kya matlab kya hai? Biwi se aise baat karte hai?"

"Aur jo meri biwi ne raat ko meri neend haram kar di, usska kya?" Shiva asked, placing his hands on his waist sternly.

"Teri galati hai! Tune mujhe dauda kar sab shuru kiya. Main toh bas khud ko defend kar rahi thi." Raavi replied with a shrug of her shoulders.

Shiva rolled his eyes and grabbed her forearm swiftly. "Tune defend kar liya na? Pann mujhe kuch maza nahi aaya. Mujhe refund chahiye." Shiva drawled lazily, pulling her closer to him.

"K-kya matlab refund chahiye? Main koi dukaan thodi hoon. Kuch bhi kehta hai. Teri baaton ka na sar hota hai na pair." Raavi muttered.

Shiva laughed at her answer. What a Raavi thing to say. When she wasn't being his little spitfire, she was absolutely adorable. And all he wanted was to spend a few more minutes with his cute chipkali. He instantly pulled her even closer, his free hand reaching out to gently place itself on her waist.

Raavi sucked in a breath as she felt the warmth of his hand seep into her skin. Her eyes fluttered closed momentarily, relishing the feel of the fiery flame crackling within her. Her lips parted in a dreamy sigh before they snapped shut in realization. She opened her eyes and looked around and noticed they were standing by the door entrance of their home. Anyone could see them if they entered or exited the house at that very moment.

'Oh, how scandalous.' - a voice inside her head whispered back sarcastically and Raavi frowned. Now was not the time to have a battle with herself.

Pushing all of those thoughts away, Raavi gulped. How did he always manage to turn the tables on her? It wasn't fair!

"Shiva chhod na, koi aajayega." Raavi whispered against her will. She wanted nothing more than to stay close to him forever.

"Kyun?" Shiva murmured, leaning closer. "Thodi der pehle toh tu badi sherni ban rahi thi, ab kya hua? Bolti kyun band hogayi?"

Mustering up all of the energy she could find within her, Raavi pushed at him with all her might. He barely budged. Stupid Chattan Pandya with his stupid smirk, unbelievable strength, and his rock-like body...a very delectable bod-.... Focus, Raavi, focus!

"Shiva, chhodh! Rishita mera intezaar kar rahi hai." Raavi pleaded, ignoring his question on purpose.

"Chhodne ke liye thodi pakda hai, chipkali." Shiva whispered intently before letting go of her hand. He walked backwards, his gaze never once wavering from her face.

Giving her a wink on the way out, he left a stumped Raavi struggling to catch her breath. His words echoed in her ear.

Chhodne ke liye thodi pakda hai, chipkali.

A small smile graced itself upon her face as she pondered over his words. He wasn't being literal, she knew it. His words held a promise; his eyes seeking trust; his gentle hold upon her arm forging a mark of its own. With his words, the grip he had over her heart had only strengthened and her smile widened at the thought.

What a way to begin the morning!

*****

A few days later, Raavi found an opportunity to strike again when she saw the table in the family room piled with a huge number of receipts and a few documents.

"Yeh kaam toh humesha Shiva hi karta hai..." The cogwheels inside Raavi's brain started turning as she cautiously approached the table. No one was around and she chuckled to herself, feeling mischievous. She checked her surroundings again before turning on the fan. As she watched the receipts fly around, a feeling of déjà vu rushed over her, making her memory fog up with the incidents from just before her wedding. Something akin to thunder struck her very suddenly, a jolting electricity coursing through her veins when an image of her applying haldi to Shiva flitted through her mind. How could she have forgotten such an integral moment of her life? She had colored him in haldi with her own bare hands, and he had done the same to her. A ritual completed and witnessed solely by them. Was that fates way of signaling to her? To them?

That it had always been him. That it had always been them.

As Raavi's mind spun with the past incidents, Dev walked in and let out a groan, breaking her out of her mini-reflection phase.

"Yeh kya hai?!" Dev yelled out.

Raavi looked up in surprise, not expecting Dev to be there.

"Dev, tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?" Raavi asked.

"Kaam karne aaya tha, lekin yahan toh mera kaam shuru hone se pehle hi aur complicate hogaya!"

"Yeh fan tumne on ki?" Dev asked in irritation.

Raavi nodded hesitantly.

"Sorry Dev! Galati hogayi. Mujhe laga Shiva-"

Dev cut her off. "Yeh kya bachkaani harkat hai Raavi? Tumhe dikh nahi raha tha ki yeh important papers aur receipts hai? Tum humesha aise behave nahi kar sakti. Thodi toh accountability lo."

Tears pooled around Raavi's eyes, as embarrassment took the foremost spot within her. She tried to explain herself but he wouldn't let her and continued on with his rambling.

"Dev, meri baat suno. Main nahi jaanti thi ki tum-"

"Yeh kya horaha hai yahan?" Shiva's voice boomed suddenly from behind them.

Raavi watched as Shiva came to stand beside her.

"Shiva, main-" Raavi started but got cut off, once again, this time by her own husband. Her nose flared in anger. Why did these brothers keep cutting her off?!

"Raavi, kuch mat bol. Tujhe explanation dene ki zarurat nahi hai. Maine sab sunn liya." Shiva nodded at her once before turning to focus on Dev.

"Aur Dev tu? Yeh kya itni der se broken recorder ki tarah bakwaas kiye ja raha hai? Raavi ne kaha na ki galati hogayi toh issmein itna bhadakne ki kya zarurat hai?" Shiva glared at his brother.

"Kaam toh mujhe hi karna hai na Shiva? Tujhe ya Raavi ko nahin. Gussa toh aayega." Dev replied.

"Tujhe itni si baat pe chidh horahi hai?! To tu dukaan pe ja. Yeh sab mat kar. Main sambhal lunga. Waise bhi humesha main hi karta hoon. Aaj ek baar tujhe kya sambhalna padha, tune toh ghar apne sar pe utha liya." Shiva grunted.

"Gaumbi ne yeh mujhe karne ko-"

"Gaumbi ne issliye tujhe bola kyunki main nahi tha, pann ab tu ja sakta hai. Teri yahan zarurat nahi hai. Kaka dukaan pe akele hai. Tu udhar ja." Shiva retorted matter-of-factly.

Dev started to leave when Shiva put out his hand in front of him to stop him.

"Ek aur baat. Ayinda Raavi se aise baat karne ke baare mein sochna bhi mat. Woh meri biwi hai. Teri devrani hai. Iss ghar ki bahu hai. Tameez se pesh aa, varna...samjha?" Shiva trailed off, an air of threat lingering in his tone.

Dev understood what Shiva meant at once and mumbled a quick apology to Raavi before leaving.

Shiva turned around to look at Raavi. He saw the wet streaks around her eyes and reached out to her immediately.

"Tu theek hai?" Shiva asked her.

"Haan. Shiva, mujhe nahi pata tha Dev yahan pe kaam kar raha tha." Raavi pouted, looking like the very vision of innocence.

"Mujhe pata hai. Fikr mat kar." Shiva assured her.

"I'm sorry meri wajah se Dev se teri ladai hui..."

Shiva chuckled. "Koi ladai nahi thi. Jab koi apna galat hota hai, toh usse line par lana humara farz hota hai."

"I know Shiva lekin..."

"Lekin kya?"

"Kya tujhe pata hai ki maine woh jaan bujh kar kiya tha?" Raavi spoke guiltily, peeking at him from her lashes.

"Sab pata hai. Aaj kal toh tu bas mujhe satane mein lagi hai. Tujhe laga main yahan kaam kar raha hoon issliye fan on kiya?" Shiva gave her a knowing look.

"Tujhe pata tha phir bhi tune mera side liya?" Raavi asked. He never failed to amaze her.

"Haan, kyunki tujhse ladhne ka, aur tujhe daat ne ka haq sirf aur sirf mera hai. Mera hote hue koi aur tere saath aisa bartaav kar hi nahi sakta." Shiva gave her a sly smile, wiping her remaining tears away.

Feeling overwhelmed with his response, Raavi flung herself into his arms and encircled her own arms around his neck.

Shiva stumbled a few steps back from the force with which Raavi threw herself at him, but he quickly wrapped his arms around her as an innate reaction, trying to steady her clumsy self. He felt himself still for a few seconds, but when he was sure Raavi wouldn't pull away, he tightened his arms around her. And in that moment, he felt complete, never wanting to let go of her. One of his hands reached up and weaved themselves within the soft curls of her hair and started playing with them. While taking in the comfort of her presence, his eyes eventually closed to bask in the moment.

Raavi held onto Shiva tightly, her tiny fists balling up the back of his shirt within her palms while she nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck. His scent was intoxicating. The familiar fragrance of cedarwood mixed with bergamot and a hint of cardamom drove her insane. Being in his arms felt entirely otherworldly; it was a divine feeling. All of the world's burden had been lifted from her shoulders at that moment, and all that remained was the security that came with the joy of having a companion for life.

When they pulled away after a few minutes, Raavi beamed at him brightly, throwing him off-guard.

"Itni battisi kya phaad rahi hai?" Shiva asked, looking at her calculatingly, still processing what had just taken place a few minutes ago.

"Kyun? Smile karne mein tax thodi lagti hai? Tujhe bhi mujhse kuch seekhna chahiye." Raavi teased him, her hand reaching out to muss up his hair in the process, surprising him for the nth time that day.

"Ae chipkali, yeh kya tha?!" Shiva jumped back, his hands flying to his hair. He narrowed his eyes at her, making his forehead scrunch up.

"Kuch bhi toh nahi." Raavi spoke in a sing-song voice, reaching out to smooth the lines across his forehead, enjoying the way his eyes followed her every movement.

"Ab tu aise kaddu jaise shakal banana band kar." Raavi ordered and turned around, marching up to the fan and turning it off.

Shiva joined her soon after when he was done recovering from the happenings from a few minutes ago. Together, they collected all the strewn receipts and documents from across the room and stacked them up.

Raavi left to help Rishita out with some work after while Shiva was left to ponder upon the antics of his chipkali. Later, when Suman noticed him smiling to himself, she mumbled a 'petticoat chhaap number 3' under her breath, wheeling herself away swiftly, a smile of her own making its way onto her face.

*****

A week later, Raavi was hastily getting ready for college and muttered a few curses to herself looking at the time. Pulling out her cosmetic purse, she started putting on her makeup, before reaching for her hairbrush.

"Ae chipkali, tune aaiyne ko hadap liya hai kya?" Shiva called out to her, walking into the room, clad in his signature cream vest and black jeans. He saw her brushing out her hair and stole her comb from her hand, using it to brush through his own hair.

"Shiva! Yeh kya kar raha hai? Woh meri kangi hai!" Raavi voiced out, jumping a little to take it back from him.

Shiva gave her a smug smile and lifted the comb higher, knowing she couldn't reach up.

"Haan toh? Jo teri hai voh meri bhi hai!" Shiva replied coolly.

"Mujhe der horahi hai! Shivaaaaa!" Raavi whined.

"Chipkali, mujhe bhi der horahi hai. Tu itni der se kya kar rahi thi? Ab meri baari hai." Shiva taunted.

When Shiva was done with the comb, he handed it back to Raavi who was silently fuming inside. She glared at him before quickly turning around to fix her hair.

As Shiva was putting on his shirt, he noticed Raavi applying lipstick. His eyes glinted with mirth as he nudged her in the side, making her get off her path of proper application.

"Shivaaa! Yeh kya kiya?" Raavi yelled out, her head snapping back to look at him.

Shiva burst out laughing seeing her face. "Joker lag rahi hai!" He pointed at her face and guffawed again.

Looking at the mirror, Raavi's mouth widened when she noticed the pink streak of jagged lipstick straying away from her lips.

"Yeh sab teri wajah se hua hai." Raavi huffed out, slapping his shoulder lightly. She was about to wipe the streak away when Shiva pulled her back into him, making her go crashing against his chest.

"Ek minute." Shiva stopped her, one of his hands finding purchase on her waist while the other reached out to gently swipe against the misdirected lipstick. He took his own sweet time wiping it all off, noticing how Raavi had relaxed into his hold and was leaning closer to him.

Raavi reveled in his touch, forgetting all about the time and what had happened a few seconds ago. Her breath quickened when his fingers ghosted against the side of her lips. Her eyes fluttered upwards, staring back into his dark orbs, which were staring right back at her.

"Hogaya." Shiva murmured, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. When she was about to pull away, he pulled her back. "Wait."

He leaned forward without wasting another second and planted a soft and lingering kiss against her cheek. He pulled back, seeing a rosy hue creep up her cheek and across her neck. "Ab hogaya." Shiva whispered.

Raavi felt her entire body warm-up and gingerly reached out to touch her cheek with her palm. She had loved the contrast of his scratchy beard rubbing across her soft skin; it felt invigorating. Wishing she could relive the moment, she turned back towards the mirror, her eyes locking with Shiva's in the process.

Shiva grinned back at her through the mirror and pointed at her cheeks. "Bilkul tamatar lag rahi hai!"

Raavi frowned and whipped around in defiance. Before she changed her mind, she stood up on her tiptoes and cupped one side of his cheeks, leaving her lips to do their job on the other. She softly pressed her lips against his cheek once, before going back in with a firmer kiss. Stepping back, she smiled back at him smugly, watching the imprints on her lips on his cheek.

"Ab hum matching tamatar hai." Raavi laughed. His bronze skin reddened under her watchful gaze and her heart squeezed internally at the vision.

Once he regained his composure after the initial shock, Shiva wasted no time in pulling Raavi into his arms. When she was settled within his warm embrace, he gave her a heart-stopping smile. Raavi smiled back at him vibrantly, patting his cheek lovingly, and wiping away the lipstick marks she had left. "Tu toh bahot tez nikli chipkali." Shiva lauded her and leaned forward again, trying his luck. He received a slight push back in return.

"Shiva, der horahi hai! Meri class hai 15 minutes mein." As much as Raavi wanted to continue with what they were doing, she couldn't be late. Not again.

"Romance ki dushman." Shiva mumbled, letting her go hesitantly.

"Haan, tu toh jaise bada Shah Rukh Khan hai na?"

Shiva rolled his eyes and started to walk away.

"Kahan ja raha hai?" Raavi stopped him.

"Abhi toh tune kaha ki tujhe jaana hai?"

"Tu mujhe college tak chodega nahi?" Raavi pouted.

"Ek khatara scooter hai. Uss pe chodun?" Shiva asked.

"Bike hai na. Yeh le." Raavi happily thrust a key into his hands.

"Isspe chhod de."

"Yeh toh teri bike hai..." Shiva trailed off.

"Toh? Abhi tune kuch minuton pehle kya bola? Ki jo mera hai woh tera hai. Aur yahi sach hai. Tera mera alag alag kuch nahi hota, humara hota hai. Samjha?" Raavi assured him.

Shiva nodded with a smile, his hand naturally reaching out to hold hers.

"Chal phir." Shiva signaled towards the door. Raavi's grip upon his hand tightened as they walked side by side.

When they found themselves settled on the bike comfortably, Raavi gasped looking at the time again. They only had five minutes left until her class.

"Shiva! Teri wajah se main late hojaungi." Raavi groaned, her eyes connecting with Shiva's through the side mirror.

Shiva chuckled in elation, his eyes glinting with mischief as they stared back at Raavi. "Aadat daal le, chipkali."

Charam Sukh has Entered the chat 🤡❤️

RES

UNRES

Chalo pehle chhootu sa sorry kyunki mtlb der hogyi unres mein...but life got in the way.

Moving on-

I KNEW IT! I just knew it had to be baingan ki sabzi. Inkling hogya tha mujhe pehle se hi ki aisa hi khurafat kregi dobi madam hmari.🤣

Shiva eating the sabzi even after professing dislike only to see her smile has my my heart.

I blushed SO HARD in the next instance...I can't with Kaddu Pandya's charm man.

'Main Utna hi Khaunga Jitna tu Plate me dalegi' .....HAYYEEE RE CUTIEE.

Raavi flustering afterwards was so so so relatable I went all - "I know Dobi behen. I know."🤡

Lattoo Raavi entered the chat pretty soon afterwards yo. Understandable hai.

Shiva Bhaiyya needs refund from Raavi didi. Pls dedo ASAP. Hm yahi chahte hain.

Itne mein hi scandalous hogya iska tho kahan hm aur bht kuch soch ke baithe hain.

Ughhh Dev babu is such a pain. His MBA crap got no chill. Always the one 'jataaoing his Bht sara dimaag' and how he's too good to work all this. (I honestly feel he doesn't want to work at all. Ghar ke kaam bhi nhi hote bahar hm dhoondhenge nhi ghar ka bahana maar ke.)

I was glad Shiva gave it back to him.

The hug again took my breath away. SO beautifully written.

Sach me aadat daal lo Chipkali we need the romance here. Sigh.

Loved this Blissy. LIght hearted-Fluff-cuteness all in one. It was a fun read.

Waiting for more content from you okieeee? 🤗❤️
