thank you! I've always wanted to see an independent Raavi, however it's too much to ask from ITV!

I didn't plan an epilogue at first but I'm certainly considering it now! At least, ShiVi can be happy this way somewhere šŸ˜†

Isn’t this the most logical way to show their love and growth in the relationship. Thank you for writing this.

Thank you!ā¤ļø

Agreed. This could have been a more logical way to proceed! I certainly would have loved to witness their journey in this way onscreen!

EPILOGUE

ā€œShiva! Shiva! Kahan gayab hogaya yeh ladka? Itni saari taiyarian karni hai. Kapde select karne hai par yeh toh dikh hi nahi raha.ā€ Dhara sighed as she made a list of things that needed to be prepared for the wedding which was planned abruptly.

Six months ago, Shiva and Raavi had declared their relationship in front of a number of people. It was a spectacle much talked about and the whispers still haven’t died down. In fact, the wedding announcement of the two had fueled the talks even further. It was baffling to people how two supposed enemies could come to be so in love with one another. Some declared that it was meant to be. Next to Prafulla, Dhara had been the only other person who seemed to be quite in shock. But when she recovered from the initial jolt of surprise, she couldn’t have been happier for her kids. She realized that all those times Shiva had refused for marriage was because he had already been waiting for someone: his Raavi. Her heart swelled at the thought of the love they shared.

Dhara called Shiva to ask him about his whereabouts. He needed to come home so that they could get him fitted for his clothes and start with decorations for the pre-wedding rituals that were to follow in two days.

ā€œHello Shiva, kahan hai tu? Tujhe pata hai na humme bahot saare kaam niptane hai. Chal jaldi se ghar aaja.ā€ Dhara spoke just as she heard a giggle in the background with a ā€˜sshh’ following after. ā€œAccha, toh janab apne hone wale biwi ke saath hai. Thoda intezaar kar le, shaadi ke baad toh saath hi rehna hai!ā€ Dhara laughed at their antics. It wasn’t uncommon for Raavi and Shiva to be found with each other. More times than not, everyone could already assume their location just by knowing where one of them was. It was quite a sight to behold at first because nobody could have ever dreamt of these two being so in love. They were inseparable.

ā€œWoh bhabi, aisa kuch nahi hai. Main kahan Raavi ke saath ho-ā€ Shiva stopped in his tracks, letting out a groan.

ā€œBas bas, mujhe pata hai tum dono ka kya chal raha hai. Mujhe aur kuch sunne ki zarurat nahi hai. Chal aaja. Raavi ko bolna woh bhi aa jaye tere saath. Humne uss ke liye kuch kapde rakhe hai jo usse kal ke pooja mein pehenna hai.ā€ Dhara hung up the phone and smiled, elated that her kids were finally getting their share of well-deserved happiness.

*****

ā€œAe gadhedi, kya kar rahi thi? Thodi der chup nahi reh sakti thi. Khee khee karne lag gayi. Bhabi ko pata chal gaya.ā€ Shiva feigned annoyance. ā€œAur woh jo tune usske baad kiya na...ā€

ā€œToh kya hua agar Dhara di ko pata chal gaya? Tu toh aise behave kar raha hai jaise kisiko nahi pata tu jab dukaan par nahi hota toh kahan hota hai. Aur jo usske baad hua, uss mein teri galati hai. Tune aisi aawaz kyun nikali?ā€ Raavi teased, knowing fully well why he did what he did. She had bitten him on his neck, maybe a little too hard. She smirked in satisfaction. As much as she loved him, annoying him was still a favorite thing of hers.

ā€œBadi hasi aarahi hai tujhe na? Abhi main tujhe batata hoon.ā€ Shiva stalked forward, a predatory gleam in his eyes. Raavi squealed when she felt him lunge forward. She managed to dodge him and stood behind the chair in front of her dresser. They went around in circles around the chair for a bit before Shiva sighed and gave up.

ā€œTheek hai, main jata hoon. Tu baith yahan aur musical chairs khel apne saath.ā€ As soon as he took a few feeble steps, he knew Raavi would let her guard down. He pulled her to him as soon as she wasn’t paying attention, and sat at the edge of her bed with Raavi in his lap. She squeaked as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Shiva snaked his arms around her petite waist and gave it a squeeze. He’d be damned if he didn’t admit he loved having his arms around her waist a little too much.

Shiva nuzzled her neck and took in her scent. She always smelled so good that it drove him insane. Her signature strawberry and vanilla scent suited her quite well and it had become a sort of addiction for him. He nipped at her neck lightly with his teeth, feeling her trembling against him. He placed a soft kiss on her collarbone before peppering a trail of kisses over the expanse of her exposed neck. Raavi shivered under his ministrations and clutched onto his shoulders. In the process of wreaking havoc upon her neck, his beard rubbed against her bare skin. A giggle escaped Raavi’s mouth, making Shiva look up.

ā€œAbhi bhi hansi aarahi hai?ā€

ā€œWoh...teri dhaadi se mujhe gudgudi lag rahi thi issliye...ā€ Raavi smiled in response before pecking him on his lips.

ā€œToh kya...dhaadi shave kar doon?ā€ Shiva asked with furrowed brows, knowing very well the answer which was coming his way.

ā€œMaine aisa kab kaha?! Khabardar jo tune apni dhaadi ko haath lagaya! Ab yeh dhaadi meri property hai. Iss pe sirf mera haq hai aur mujhse pooche bina, isse trim bhi mat karna. Tu jaanta hai teri dhaadi tujhe bahot suit karti hai.ā€ Raavi spoke dreamily, running her fingers over his jaw, making Shiva shake his head in amusement.

ā€œMujhe kabhi kabhi lagta hai tujhe mujh se zyaada meri dhaadi se pyaar hai.ā€ Shiva chuckled.

In response, Raavi pulled his cheeks calling him her ā€˜sweetu’ and ā€˜jaanu,’ knowing how badly these names irked him. She ended up receiving a glare from him. Raavi laughed in response, kissing his sullen look away affectionately.

*****

Shiva stood in front of the mirror fixing his hair. Dev and Krish were standing beside him and talking about the miraculous event that was taking place today. It was Shiva and Raavi’s wedding. Dev helped Shiva put on his safa before lovingly patting him on his back. Krish continued with his incessant chattering after which Shiva kicked both of his brothers out of his room.

Today was the day he had been waiting for ever since he realized what Raavi’s presence meant to him. Even before the epiphany had struck him, he had always wondered why he was way more comfortable with his chipkali than any other girl. A good number of girls had often approached him but his quiet and non-inclusive demeanor had chased them all away. Raavi had never been like those girls. She had been different and each day, she came back to him to get her fill of her daily argument with him. She challenged him at every step of the way. She looked at him in the eyes fiercely when they fought. She gave his anger back to him with equal fervor and that had slowly but surely earned her a tiny bit of space in his heart. As the years passed by, that tiny space kept growing larger and larger. When had he become so consumed with her being, even he did not know. The biggest turning point in their relationship had been her broken marriage. As much as it bothered him how badly she was wronged, that too by his own brother, he couldn’t help but thank the fates for letting it happen. If that event never took place, he and Raavi wouldn’t be where they were today. They wouldn’t be crazy in love; they wouldn’t have each other’s hands to hold; they wouldn’t have each other’s comforting presence when one or the other felt down; most of all, they wouldn’t have grown into the people they were today. They had indeed evolved while maintaining their basic essence. And as each day passed, Shiva fell for Raavi even harder. Each day, he loved her more than the previous one. Each day, his admiration for her increased tenfold; and each day, she awoke a new emotion within him.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Shiva heard a buzz from his phone and grabbed it to check who it was. He already had an inkling. He grinned when he saw Raavi’s name. Of course, she was messaging him on their wedding day, just minutes before the baraat was supposed to be leaving.

R: Shivaaaaa!! Tu tayyar hogaya hai kya? Ek picture bhej na please! Mujhe tujhe dekhna hai. Main toh tujhse milne bhi aarahi thi lekin maasima ne mujhe range haath pakad liya :(

S: Chipkali, tujh mein sabar naam ki cheez hai bhi ya nahi? Jab dekho idhar se udhar ucchalti rehti hai. Thoda aur intezaar kar le, hum abhi thodi der mein nikalne wale hai.

R: Bhoothnath! Aaj mujhe tu chipkali nahi bulayega, samjha? Aaj toh main tere muh se apne liye sirf aur surf tareefein sunna chahti hoon! Waise, jab baraat aajayegi, tab main bhi bahar aaungi. Aakhir dulhe aur dulhan ka bhi haq banta hai ki woh apne shaadi ke din ek saath naach sake.

S: Theek hai hone wali biwi ji. Aaj teri har baat sar akho par.

R: Hayeeee, Shivaa! Main kitni excited hoon!! Tu nahi jaanta mera mann karta hai ki main bahar jakar zor se chillaun aur apni khushiyaan baatun.

Shiva couldn’t help but laugh at her excitement. She really was something else.

S: Thodi excitement shaadi ke baad ke liye bhi bacha ke rakh le ;)

ā€œShiva! Tayyar hai tu? Chal, baraat ka jaane ka time hogaya hai.ā€ Dhara called out and Shiva sent another quick message to Raavi before he left.

Raavi stood in front of the mirror, checking to see if she had missed something in her attire. Anita had told her she looked beautiful but she wanted to hear that compliment from Shiva. Her phone buzzed and she quickly looked it over, only to have a blush creep up her cheeks as she read Shiva’s text. She was currently in her vanity room in the wedding hall. Her eagerness was keeping her on her toes as she shuffled from one foot to another. Today was the day. She was finally going to be wedded to her Shiva. Sometimes it all felt too unreal. They waited for each other for three years and the thought of it alone was enough to bring her to tears. Just like Mata Parvati had done her tapasya for Shiv ji, she had done hers as well in the three years she had to be apart from Shiva. Three years ago, when Dhara had asked her to become Shiva ki Gauri, Raavi had refused for her personal comfort and growth. Now, she was indeed becoming his, and this time, both of them had decided upon this on their own. She felt elated. Shiva was her biggest blessing and she couldn’t thank the Almighty enough for bringing him into her life. Each day, she felt more grateful than the other for her happiness has no bounds. She couldn’t wait to start a new chapter of her life alongside her constant; her strength; her love; and her everything: Shiva.

ā€œAe Raavi beta, tu ready hogayi? Baraat bas aane wala hai.ā€ Prafulla called out and Raavi squealed hugging her. She grabbed her maasima’s hands and twirled around, her laughter bouncing off the walls.

ā€œRaavi dikri, tu pagal hogayi hai kyaa? Hai mhara bhogilaal! Yeh toh mujhe girane pe lagi hai. Haath chhod.ā€ Prafulla shrugged her hands out of Raavi’s. She couldn’t help but smile at her niece’s happiness. After the cruel events fate tossed her way, Raavi deserved to be happy.

Suddenly, loud noises were heard from outside and a band started playing some instruments. They were here. Raavi ran to the window to catch a glimpse of Shiva. When she finally caught sight of him, she was left breathless. He looked gorgeous. She couldn’t believe this man was going to be all hers for their entire lifetime. She swooned internally.

Raavi quickly ran to the door so that she could reach the baraat but was stopped by her maasima.

ā€œRaavi tu kidhar jarahi hai?ā€

ā€œMujhe neeche jaana hai. Ab ek dulhan ka bhi toh haq banta hai ki woh apne shaadi ke din apne dulhe ke saath thoda naach le.ā€

ā€œBeta, dulha dulhan shaadi hone se pehle ek dusre se nahi milte!ā€

ā€œMujhe farq nahi padhta! Aap jaanti hai na mujhe inn sab baaton mein vishwas nahi.ā€ With that, Raavi ran off. This time, even her maasima couldn’t stop her determined niece.

That evening, Raavi danced with Shiva to her heart’s content. Nobody said a word to them. They had suffered enough and it was time for them to receive their dues after their 3-year interlude. When Raavi and Shiva had finally made it to the mandap, they sat with each other, hand in hand, finishing every ritual diligently, eager to start their new journey together.

When Shiva filled her parting with sindoor, Raavi couldn’t help but let a tear fall. As much as she tried to control her emotions, she was overwhelmed with all of her dreams coming true. Shiva noticed her crying and had slowly whispered words of assurance before he tied the mangalsutra around Raavi, his Raavi. They shared an eye lock which was filled with unadulterated love. With their eyes, they promised each other a life filled with hope, love, respect, and immense trust. They vowed to always be there for one another; to be each other’s light in the dark; warmth in the cold; shade in the sun; and a voice of reason when things seemed bleak.

When they were done with the wedding, they took their elders blessings and fed sweets to one another. They had pictures taken in which Raavi was absolutely glowing with happiness. She was seen poking Shiva in his ribs to make him smile while everyone around them laughed at their shenanigans. Once they went home, they finished some more of the rituals before Shiva picked up Raavi in his arms and walked off towards their bedroom. Raavi hid her face in his chest while their family, well more like Krish, cheered and hooted from behind.

Shiva sat Raavi down on their bed before locking their door. ā€œSo, Mrs. Raavi Shiva Pandya, kaisa lag raha hai aaj tujhe?ā€ Shiva sat down beside her and took her hands in his. He drew small circles on her palm while listening to her chirpy voice. He looked at her with a content expression on his face.

ā€œBahooot accha! Ek surreal sa feeling hai. Sukoon milta hai. Hum dono sach mein ek saath hai ab, hamesha ke liye. Mujhe toh abhi bhi vishwaas nahi horaha ke hum dono ki shaadi hogayi hai. Can you believe it?! Shiva! Mujhe chiti kaato. Mujhe confirmation chahiye.ā€ Raavi pleaded to him.

Shiva shook his head in amusement and pinched her hand.

ā€œOuch! Itni zor se kyun kiya bhootnath?ā€ Raavi pouted.

ā€œNauntanki. Maine tujhe kaha tha na ki teri har baat aaj sar ankho par rakhunga toh main bas apna vaada nibha raha tha.ā€ Shiva gave her a lopsided grin. He placed a soft kiss on the spot he had pinched.

ā€œAb theek hai?ā€ Shiva whispered, his eyes never once leaving hers.

Gulping, Raavi nodded her head in a yes, not able to form her words. The intense stare he gave left her wanting more. She suddenly jumped into Shiva’s arms and clung onto him tightly, never wanting to let go. Shiva hugged her back and gently stroked her hair lovingly. In each other’s warm embrace, they found the solace they had been craving their entire lives. They were finally home in the truest sense.
