Yes sami the condition for second marriage islamically is to give equal rights and not to marry for pleasure, its only to give security to women. So men havent been asked to marry someone just for beauty etc but to marry orphans/widowed women who have no one else to support them. Even then Allah has mentioned how difficult it will be to treat all wives equally so dont marry unless you are sure you will be able to fulfil those rights equally which is very tough and those who wont treat equally will be punished severly (i think there was a hadith about it)

haha you have become a fan of mohib

No . Permission of the first wife isn't needed in Islam. A guy can marry another woman even without informing the first wife. It s clear that if he has to seek his first wife permission he won't be able to marry another, because no wife will give it.😊

The first wife has the right to ask for divorce if she thought that the 2nd marriage may cause her any harm.

In Pakistani dramas , they rarely show the guy getting the permission of the first wife. So it is clear that in the laws is Pakistan permission isn't needed.

I don't know about the laws in India ..but I remember reading that when Dharmendra and Hima Malini wanted to get married, (he was already a married man) they converted to Islam to do their nikaah. 🤔this means that in India polygamy is allowed. I think I've seen it in the drama: Ishq Subhan Allah.

How about old girls who fear getting older and not having kids?😉

I don't find anything wrong if the man marries another woman for his own pleasure, Islam isn't against having pleasure. It forbided affairs, zina, so it allowed four marriages..

@blue . True. I think you are refering to this:

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (ï·º) said: When a man has two wives and he is inclined to one of them, he will come on the Day of resurrection with a side hanging down.

awida in india polygamy is only allowed for Muslims. And if you try to sneak and fake convert to just marry someone..there is ruling about it in supreme court. You have to I think convert 6 months or 1 year before you do second marriage and it's pretty complicated as people were abusing the process...as in example of dharmendra and hema.. I mean think how abusive it is to use someone else's religious beliefs for your own selfish sake.

Neither of them are Muslims...hema is full on south Indian hindu and on top very religious one while he is Sikh...his family goes to gurdwara and his first family don't even acknowledge his second family.only abhay does a bit.i mean that mess and tragedy is perfect example of misuse ...on top his first wife is even more beautiful than hema . In Pakistan hina is right legally you need written permission.

I dont think so awida...from what we studied i think there was a hadith or something indicating that second marriage cannot be done without informing the first wife. I may be wrong here but i think only permission isnt needed, but the husband is still obliged to inform her of the marriage otheriwse his second marriage is a sin as its done in secret. Its just like marrying without informing your guardians is also void.

I dont know about dramas but my hubbys lawyer friend in Pak told him that they have to get documents signed by first wife to give permission for second marriage...otherwise she can take him to court and nullify his second marriage

I think i also read a hadith which told men that if they wanna remarry they should choose widows/divorced women or orphans. And i also read that multiple marriage was allowed at that time because there were more women than men so it was not possible for every woman to get a husband therefore men were permitted to marry multiple women.

I think some international shiekhs give different fatwas about Islam because they are living in the west, where women have many rights regarding marriage, and divorce. So they try to palance between Islam and the culture in the west..they don't want to cause problems for muslims abroad. Coz in Islamic fiqh there are no rules about informing the first wife. You know if a guy traveled away and stayed there for a long time, and needed to remarry, how can he inform his first wife! The commenucations were very difficult at those days. Secret marriage is that which doesn't have any witnesses, if there were qazi and 2 men witnesses , so it is not a sin. a man needn't inform everyone about it. It is his personal matter. 😊

Thanks for the information about marriage in Pakistan. I know governments have their laws. But nothing of that sort happens here.

And you are right about the reasons which drove men to get married to more than a woman in the early days of Islam. But Islam is for every society and every age. Islamic rules can be valid even now.

Thanks for the informations about the rules in India. And how about permission of the first wife is it needed in India?. 😕

There are strict rules about converting to Islam and then returning to your first religion . But I don't think these rules are applied in India.

I know Dharam and Hema aren't muslims, they just miused the religion for their own selfish reasons. And I was sure that Dharam's first wife must be a beautifull woman..coz Panjab is famous of beautifull ppl .😳
