I think Osman seems to be boring because he is too goody goody types . no flaws . no meat .
Maybe in the further epis we will get to see more of him .

@lostmymusic. 😆 I feel as if the audience needs a scapegoat replacement of MM and so in desperate attempts why not take onto Maya Ali's next role, after all bashing's the new form of entertainment. (I am definitely NOT defending MM here, it's just annoying how ppl can get so convenient without even letting the character of Aan unleash). Who knows what she might turn out to become, but for the moment there is no valid reason to predict anything of this sort.

Generally speaking the mental illness angle is obviously a sensitive issue, and I also think this should be handled with care. The problem for me actually was that reaction of shock by Harib at Ayla's 'episode'. If you take that out it might have sit well with the sentiments of a sensitive and an intelligent audience. Because that way Harib would make more sense, he would've married Ayla for the person she is (for whatever he may see in her) behind/despite her illness. And from here on, there would be a solid basis for the mental issue to be adressed.
Nevertheless, I still feel this is a bit too early to judge, we shouldn't go all philosophical at this point yet and wait for what they offer next. Also technically the audience doesn't know yet that she's got a serious mental issue - it's us who having the BTS info are already being judgemental of not treating a particular mental disease right.

Mona Haseeb, the writer, has previously written Nanhi, which basically was a thriller on child trafficking, that got quite some critical acclamation. It messes with my head that she would take another socially relevant topic this lightly, as it appears to many after watching the first episode of Sanam. Well.. let's see what it turns out to be, and be patient for a bit.

Audience loves rona-dhona instead of better characters for twisted reasons so maybe ratings would go up but the rocky foundation of the story gives me no high hopes, The acting by the three leads has been OKAY. not that good at all.

I don't think I would be continuing further then episode 4 if the story continues on the same pace.

Oh good, I am not the only person who has pointed these things out. Honestly, I do not want to see some cutesy romance between a married man and a homely girl while demonising a person living with a psychological disorder. This show needs to prove me wrong.

Why would Harib marry Aila, it's not like it was an arranged marriage, he knew her from before, why was he surprised at Ailas episode?
I wish hareem and Okb weren't paired together, DED is still fresh in minds, it was kinda Awkward watching them as a couple.

I sincerely do hope that this show proves me wrong since Nanhi, the debut script by Mona Haseeb got critic praise for being amazing. Nevertheless, the first episode in plain words 'sucked big time'.

Hello peeps :)..was a silent reader for quite some time, decided to join in the discussions here today!

Talking about the episode, I'd say it was quite alright. It wasn't that much of a dhamakedaar beginning, but that's okay.. we've all witnessed a fall down of a lot dramas after initial highs - I feel comfortable with this pace regarding Sanam 😆

What I demand off it for now is to shed a bit more light on the Harib-Ayla track, coz I found myself scratching my head once or twice.. That being said, there is only so much you can pack into one episode, we should be a bit more patient, and like at least try to keep MM or DeD out of the mind and give the drama a 'benefit of doubt'.

In regard to the chemistry between Harib and Ayla I didn't feel the proper vibes as of yet. I felt OKB was doing his job fine, HF contribution to the chemistry was lacking a bit.. but then again, that might just be on purpose.. maybe Ayla is not supposed to be that much into him. Time will tell.

Again,.. I know MM has left no stone unturned in making us all harsh critics, but we should try to disassociate Maya from Mannu and give Aan a chance. She had limited screen time, and all we know for now is, that she's a responsible, working woman with an MBA degree, who likes to wear the national dress of our country. As for now, I don't know what makes one think that she's oh so typically seedha, sadha or even a Mannu 2.0 ? GIve her a chance please.

Based on some of the comments on Osmaya: Those barely 30 seconds of Osmaya in the whole episode managed to bore some people off to the extent that it made it to their top cons of Sanam? 😲 Like it's fine if you don't like them together per se.. and it's obviously not a secret they've worked together before.. but the conclusion that it's boring off their fans is a bit premature in this case, no? I for once, enjoyed their brief encounter and it was a welcome change of events in the episode.

I'd also like to point out at this stage, that the shoooting of Sanam was majorly done at the time when DeD just went on air.. that massive popularity that Osmaya gained was a lot later, when the Wali Farah track became the focus of the story. So I believe it's wrong to assume they solely tried selling in on Osmaya at that stage with Sanam, since it wasn't that much of a thing back then.

Looking forward to more discussions, you all seem to be lovely people ⭐️

👏👏👏

I wonder what the reaction would've been if it was Harib who'd have gone all out of control saying, "Tum zidd kar rahi ho!" to Ayla and called her in the morning when he didn't find her anywhere near him, demanding that she comes home right away and that she's lying about work...🤔

It's like thinkagain said, all the judgement comes from having BTS knowledge about the characters and themes of the show. That knowledge isn't available to the regular audience. Heck, event the characters at this point don't even know what the real issue is. How was Harib supposed to jump to the conclusion in an instant that Ayla has serious mental condition which should be handled with care when it was the very first time he was seeing her act that way? Does Ayla even know what happens to her? She was shown as not remembering her "episode" mere minutes after it happened which further led to Harib's confusion. But bless the guy who didn't comment on it any further. So far we've seen Harib genuinely care for Ayla. We don't know what's gonna happen in the future but abhi, at this point..I don't understand what else was supposed to happen.

It's way tooo early to say the show will stigmatize mental disorders when that thing hasn't even been addressed in the show. I'm personally interested in how the writer manages to build Aan&Harib's relationship which is, from any angle shape or size, an extra marital affair. Anyway, I'm gonna have my judgy glasses on when I see people who wouldn't have the same stand had Ayla been the one who married a man with a mental disorder, the one even he's not aware of. If Ayla isn't shown seeking help and only expecting Harib to move according to her wishes and whims only...can we really blame Harib falling out of love?

Exactly...before judging Aan harib relationship, one should see what Ayla's character has in store.
