Well the reason cousins are allowed to get married to each other is because in the past there has always been a shortage of men. You must realize that in older times Muslim men had to fight wars to defend their religion and fight oppression from non-Muslim rulers. This resulted in a lot of death and thus the shortage of Muslim men and increased amounts of widows with children who needed to be looked after. The other reason this has persisted is because many families want to keep their bloodlines free of non-Muslim additions and a convenient way to ensure that is get their children married into known Muslim families and as is often the case, with their cousins. Ideally it should be second cousins but in times of need or for lack of better proposals, it can be between first cousins. I believe that there is nothing wrong with that as long as the cousins did not grow up together (in the same house-hold) thinking of each other as brother and sister.
thanx for the amazing explanation...i kno its a serial so i shouldnt take it personally but hey it doesnt hurt to learn about other cultures....
