Producers and Actors need to act in a socially responsible manner depicting scenes in serials that promote harmony in society and entertain at the same time. Violence, the use of weapons, use of limbs and unlawful behavior must be stopped. Women must be treated with equal respect to men. Gang violence must never take place, and the use of gangs on TV should completely be stopped.

The censor board is urged to take stringent action against those who violate screening material that is not approved for all audiences including children.

Aye Aye. I second this whole heartedly.
I would also like to add children to
the list. Abuse of children in any form is
unacceptable.

meli.
I have visited Karthikaa's site and left a comment. That was only about women.
This one is different, it's on censorship.
The censors seem to have gone to sleep, lets awake them. Artistes, producers seem to think that circumventing the law is okay.
Viewers of all ages are subject to prime tme telivision on which violent acts such as stabbing a pregnant woman, perjury, gang violence etc. Perjury, kidnapping and other crimes are openly being shown on small screen. How can the censors permit all this?
Either a warning must appear on the screen saying "this episode is meant only for mature audiences" or a certification that says "this episode has been approved for all audiences" must appear.

A very good cause, Jagdu!

I don't watch serials anymore, but the one that I used to watch before had so many of these scenes, it was just so disgusting to sit thro it..

Count me in to sign the petition..

Jagdu, I totally agree with you. And this petition should be extended to all Indian TV channels; Sun does not have a monopoly on indiscretion.

But, rather than censor programmes -- since producers will claim to be only reflecting society and that they do depict good triumphing over evil (albeit in episode 1000!) -- I'd urge a classification system, as in the US. Serials with themes meant for mature audiences could be screened after, say 9 pm.

Jagdu, for this petition to be effective, Id suggest that we have a simple poll where viewers could cast their votes and an aggregate view can be easily discerned. Then, the poll/petition should be forwarded to the main Indian newspapers in Tamilnadu. Otherwise, even if the producers' assistants scan these pages, no change will be forthcoming.

Well done Jagdu.TV isn't safe anymore - what with humour injected into limbs blown apart! Yup the censor board needs to sit up to snip snip snip....
