DARWIN AWARDS

Sharing an EMAIL I received

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us. Here are the glorious winners

1. When his 38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California, would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.

A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for
his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her.

An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit.

A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer... $15.

Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly..
He decided that he'd just throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape...

When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street by sucking on a hose, he got much more than he bargained for... Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near spilled sewage.
A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline, but he plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had.

THE MORALITY OF DISHONESTY

Robbers entered a bank in a small town.
One of them shouted: "Don't move! The money belongs to the bank. Your lives belong to you."Immediately all the people in the bank laid on the floor quietly and without panic. This is an example of how the correct wording of a sentence can make everyone change their view of the world .
One woman laid on the floor and lifted her skirt in a provocative manner. The robber approached her saying, "Lady , this is a robbery not a rape. Please behave accordingly." This is an example of how to behave professionally, and focus on the goal .
While running from the bank the youngest robber (who had a college degree) said to the oldest robber (who had barely finished elementary school): "Hey, maybe we should count how much we stole?" The older man replied: "Don't be stupid. It's a lot of money so let's wait for the news on TV to find out how much money was taken from the bank." This is an example of how life experience is more important than a degree .
After the robbery, the manager of the bank said to his accountant:"Let's call the cops and tell them how much has been stolen." Wait, said the Accountant, "before we do that, let's add that money we took for ourselves over the past few months and also add in any other problems and just say that it was stolen as part of today's robbery." This is an example of taking advantage of an opportunity.
The following day it was reported in the news that the bank was robbed of 3 million. The robbers then counted the money, but they found only 1 million so they started to grumble. "We risked our lives for 1 million, while the bank's management robbed two million dollars without blinking..? Maybe its better to learn how to work the system, instead of being a simple robber."
This is an example of how knowledge can be more useful than power .
Moral : Give a crook a gun, and he can rob a bank . Give a crook a bank, and he can rob everyone.

Redemption-chapter 51

There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
"I feel this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong."
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What's right for you--just listen to
The voice that speaks inside."
Shel Silverstein

Police commissioner Rakesh menon absorbed the information that the Police commando chief Acp Abdul shakir had just told him and slowly walked towards Rudran and stood casually facing him and then he turned towards everybody and said " gentlemen, all of you go wait on the ground floor while me and Mr.rudran have a small chat.Abdul, take your men and go through each room of every floor of this hospital and clear it of any danger."

Everybody quietly moved away but commissioner Rakesh saw that both his men Acp Balaraman and Acp Abdul shakir remained looking at him and he nodded to both of them " what is it gentlemen ?"

Acp Balaraman spoke softly " sir,Mr.rudran is also an IPS officer."

Commissioner Rakesh menon " Okay, a man of many means and guises.Thank you Balaraman, carry on."

Acp Balaraman lingered for a second and his eyes met rudran's who gave a very subtle hint that it was okay and Acp Abdul's eyes met Rudran's to say hello and rudran nodded as he acknowledged the support and respect that he had been shown by a fellow officer.

Alone in the silence of the hospital both men looked at each other as two lions would do as they met up in their boundaries that marked their territories.

Commissioner Rakesh menon walked tiredly towards the large window that overlooked the city as its lights glittered like the stars in the night sky.He turned suddenly " Rudran, the same rudran who was involved in breaking up that criminal ring in delhi and rumors were that the daughter of the Home minister had been kidnapped and this started the whole operation that has more or less wiped out major criminals operating there."

Rudran smiled and nodded yes.

Rakesh " and i wont be surprised if Acp balaraman and you passed out in the same batch from your IPS training and i am pretty sure you were the one who made the call from phoenix mall after rescuing those three women from those rapists."

Rudran " yes,right again sir."

Commissioner Rakesh menon " And those men in that parking lot of that dhaba and a few more in the areas surrounding it,that was also your handiwork, wasn't it."

Rudran smiled and shrugged " sorry sir.But i cannot comment on an ongoing investigation."

Commissioner Rakesh menon chuckled " ongoing investigation. My dear chap,i am heading the investigation and so you better answer my question."

Rudran with an apologetic face " sorry sir for i mean no offence. But i am referring to the ongoing investigation by the intelligence wing and since that case comes under its purview i cannot say or comment anthing for you do not have the clearance for more details."

Commissioner Rakesh menon's face filled with anger " mr.rudran,I am an Inspector general and the city police commissioner and don't insult me by talks of clearance for i need to know what the bloody hell is going in my city and what the bloody hell you are doing in it leaving dead bodies in your wake.perhaps,i should just take you in and then what to see what happens."

Rudran looked at him kindly " sir,i respect you and have great admiration for your character and your career but i have to say that Acp Abdul made a small mistake when he told you who i was and what my ranking is."

Rakesh menon surprised " what was the mistake Acp Abdul made.Go on and enlighten me."

Rudran " sir,Like you just said, you are an Inspector general of police and i am a Lieutenant general.I am sorry to say this but i out rank you by one level and even you cannot arrest me and maybe that can be done only by the Dgp of police and even that is a doubtful one for as you know an army man cannot be arrested by any civilian law enforcement agency."

Commissioner Rakesh menon knew when he was beaten and nodded his acknowledgement and his expression changed as did his voice which spoke softly " what are you doing hunting in this city and so far away from the capital?"

Rudran in turn relaxedly " permission to speak freely sir."

Rakesh " you just said that you are an higher ranking officer and so i guess you don't need my permission."

Rudran " sir,i will be able tell you more if you could kindly let me go and check on my mother and also i need to go see another lady about her husband.I would totally appreciate it if you could wait or if you please, just come along with me.After that we will chat more over a cup of coffee."

Commissioner Rakesh menon " okay rudran, carry on and i am right behind you."

Redemption-chapter 52

"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." - Pericles

Police commissioner Rakesh menon walked with Rudran and yet all the time the police chief was assessing the man and weighing his options on what to do in the current situation for he knew that the tv crews and journalists would be descending on the hospital any moment. But the gentleman in him knew he had to extend a bit of courtesy to the man beside him and his own instinct told him that it would be the best course for the time being.

Rudran reached the door of the room opposite to the one he had left his mother and babu in and gently knocked on it and told babu that it was him and it was safe to open the door.

The door opened just a crack and both Rakesh menon and Rudran saw the eyes of the old man peer out and then widen in happiness and excitement on seeing Rudran.

Babu opened the door wide and in panic " thambi,i am so glad you were here. The man came in such a hurry and told me to place your mother in a wheelchair and bring her to this room.He said he was not sure if it would work but that it buy time and he would also try to distract the men who were coming to harm us.Then your phone came and well we have been here for the past half an hour behind locked doors.I hope everything is okay."

Rudran gently told Babu that it was okay now and that it was safe to go back to their room.

Babu breathed a sigh of relief and then he stepped out and his eyes searched for something or someone and with a look of disappointment turned to rudran " thambi, where is the man? I guess he must be in the ICU staring at his wife who has gone in for a bypass surgery.Poor guy, kept going on and on worriedly about his wife and how much he loved her and cared for her.He kept making jokes about all the murukku and seedai that his wife ate and felt that along with those oily foods, all the mega serials were also a reason for his wife's heart condition.Funny chap, but a really brilliant guy.He kind of vaguely mentioned that he was a scientist of some repute, somewhere in some college called IIT.what do i know about all that? But you know what,he never ever made me feel small or unintelligent although he was far superior to me in every way and we spent many a long hour talking about old hindi and tamil films. But most importantly he seemed to very fond of you and said you were very important person and that he was happy that he met you.But the past two days after you both met in the hospital cafeteria,he seemed lost in his own thoughts and i found him talking to himself and mumbling something."

Rudran waited patiently until babu had finished and then looked at him with tears in his eyes " Babu, the old man you are talking about is no more."

Babu whimpered in fear and stared at rudran not able to comprehend what he had just been told and then the news started to filter in and along with understanding and shock came the pain " dead, but i saw him just a little while ago and all i could think of him at that time was that he was acting strange and had probably gone mad for the way he was behaving and now he is dead.what happened? how did he die?"

Rudran looked at rakesh and then at babu and struggled to find words and finally mumbled " he died for us,trying to save us."

This was too much for babu, who was an old man himself and he slowly sank to the ground devastated.Rudran knelt next to him and gently stroked his shoulder " Babu,i am sorry but all this is because of me and because of the enemies i have made through my work."

Babu angrily ' please don't say that.we know what work you do and how dangerous it is.I am feeling guilty and ashamed that rather than me sacrificing my life, someone else has done it for us.How will we ever repay this debt and most importantly who is going to tell his wife this news, when she is just out of surgery."

Rudran " i am going there now and i will talk to her.let me handle that.Go inside and i will be back shortly."

Rudran slowly and wearily struggled to his feet, weary in soul than in body and walked towards the ICU.

Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death
they would be asked two questions
and their answers would determine
whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife.
The first question was, "Did you bring joy?"
The second was, "Did you find joy?"

I rose from the comfort of my bed and saw the light all red streaming in through the windows, bathing the room with the color of blood.
Red, bed as the thoughts and blood rushed into my head and i thought well said and the salty air brought the whiff of sea and fish
and it was another day,a new day and a new beginning.

Redemption-chapter 53

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it always."? Mahatma Gandhi

ICU

In 1854, Florence Nightingale left for a Crimean War, where triage used to separate seriously wounded soldiers from the less-seriously wounded, was observed. Until recently,it was reported that Nightingale reduced mortality from 40% to 2% on the battlefield. Although this was not the case, her experiences during the war formed the foundation for her later discovery of the importance of sanitary conditions in hospitals, a critical component of intensive care. In 1950, anesthesiologist Peter Safar established the concept of "Advanced Support of Life", keeping patients sedated and ventilated in an intensive care environment. Safar is considered to be the first practitioner of intensive care medicine as a speciality. In response to a polio epidemic (where many patients required constant ventilation and surveillance), Bjrn Aage Ibsen established the first intensive care unit in Copenhagen in 1953. The first application of this idea in the United States was in 1955 by Dr. William Mosenthal, a surgeon at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. In the 1960s, the importance of cardiac arrhythmias as a source of morbidity and mortality in myocardial infarctions (heart attacks) was recognized. This led to the routine use of cardiac monitoring in ICUs, especially after heart attacks.

Intensive care is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. The concept arose from the devastating Copenhagen polio epidemic of 1952, which resulted in hundreds of victims experiencing respiratory and bulbar failure. Over 300 patients required artificial ventilation for several weeks. This was provided by 1,000 medical and dental students who were employed to hand ventilate the lungs of these patients via tracheostomies. By 1953, Bjorn Ibsen, the anaesthetist who had suggested that positive pressure ventilation should be the treatment of choice during the epidemic, had set up the first intensive care unit (ICU) in Europe, gathering together physicians and physiologists to manage sick patients - many would consider him to be the father' of intensive care.

Max Harry Weil is considered widely as the father of modern intensive care' - he established a four-bed shock ward' at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center in the USA during the early 1960s.3 During the 1960s and 1970s, ICUs were established in the UK. This was aided by rapid expansion in consultant anaesthetists during the late 1950s, together with an increase in junior anaesthetists who could staff such units around the clock. In the UK, the first full-time intensive care clinician was Professor Ron Bradley, who ran the ICU at St Thomas' Hospital, London. This ICU, known as Mead Ward, had initially been set up by Dr Geoffrey Spencer in 1966.4 Professor Bradley worked there with Dr Margaret Branthwaite, who herself went on to lead the ICU at the Royal Brompton Hospital, and together they developed the first pulmonary artery catheter.4 The first microprocessor-controlled ventilator was developed in 1971 and this, along with the development of a multitude of new equipment and drugs, stimulated a rapid growth of intensive care medicine.

Inside the hospital

Hippocratic Oath

I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:...

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures which are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humility and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.
If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

Written in 1964 by Louis Lasagna, Academic Dean of the School of Medicine at Tufts University, and used in many medical schools today.

The hospital is a strange place,an alien place and yet it is one place where you can witness heaven and hell in action in its many guises.

Heaven when a family is told by a doctor that the patient is okay and that they were able to save him or her.For the family members who are being told this, the doctor appears as god himself or in the least a protecting guardian angel.Yes,god, angel are some of the titles bestowed wholeheartedly by people when their loved ones are saved, cured and everything is right.

Hell is when the doctor informs that the patient has passed on and that it was too little too late or that there were too many complications and too little time.

I,yours truly have seen for myself the bodies of loved ones, close friends and the state of a human body bereft of life and as it lays cold to the touch for it is now in the possession of death, that mysterious state when is becomes was and all of a sudden, loved ones are clinically and vaguely called " body ".

One can see and hear this when we go to pay our condolences and hear people whisper " body eppa release panraanga, bodya eppa kondu varaanga, bodya enga cremate panna poraanga."

HA,HA,HA Body, konjam neram munnadi sadashivam ippo verum shavam.

The hospital functioned as usual and the work of saving, nourishing life went on quietly and the slight flutter of the emergency an hour earlier was forgotten and it was normal again.

The Cardiac and Cardio thoracic CCU was on the third floor but in a different wing and it took them five minutes of walking to reach the place which was isolated from the outside world and its many germs, bacteria and viruses.

Two men of the hospital security team stood guard at the entrance to the wing and although both of them recognised Police commissioner rakesh menon, they politely requested him and rudran to stay put while they went to fetch the duty doctor.

The duty doctor was one mr.ravindran and his walk and expression told them that he was highly agitated and had a lot on his mind.

Dr.ravindran was a man lost in the world of medicine and surgery and had no clue as to who both rudran and rakesh menon were and coming to a halt before them he raised both hands "gentlemen,i hope you have no outlandish requests as to enter the sanctum of this ward. The attack on the hospital has put this entire institution under a lot of stress and frankly speaking it is unheard of,that a hospital could come under attack.so kindly state your business and leave immediately."

Rudran " doctor,we are all very sorry that the hospital has had to experience such a traumatic incident. But it is over now and we assure you that everyone is safe now.By the way i am Rudran and this is mr.rakesh menon, the police commissioner of chennai."

Dr.ravindran as any normal person should have reacted when they are introduced to a distinguished person such as a police commissioner but he appeared not to have heard it at all and instead looked at rudran " Rudran.did you just say your name was rudran ? Just the man i wanted to see for i have a patient who was saying your name over and over again.she had just come out of surgery and practically went mad and was mumbling words, stupid old man, reckless man and then she mentioned your name and said it was very important that she met you right away.I had no other way to calm her down but by sedating her for she was under a lot of stress and i was very worried that she might hurt herself, considering that she has just come out of surgery."

Rudran was lost for words and he looked at the doctor " please, look after her really well.I will give you my number and please call me when she is fit enough for me to visit her."

Dr.ravindran nodded okay and took down rudran's number and then " sir,you have blood all over your shirt. If it due to an injury, please take care of it immediately."

Rudran looked down at the blood stains that had dried and stiffened his shirt and painfully smiled " right and wrong doctor.I am injured but the blood is not mine. This blood belongs to a great man who might have just saved many of your lives. This blood belongs to the husband of the lady you have just sedated."

Rudran turned and walked away leaving the doctor stunned and speechless and commissioner rakesh took in all this and thought to himself " there must be a great story behind this incident.i wonder if he will ever tell me and even if he did,i doubt if he will tell me the whole story."

"This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor...Welcome and entertain them all. Treat each guest honorably. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond." Rumi

I sat quietly with a few friends of the furry and four legged variety and we all waited for the sun to come up.The light from our nearest star had already illuminated the world but it had to make itself physically present and visible. So me and the furballs sat like those crowds one sees during election times, who know the VIP is going to come and feel his or her presence much before the VIP arrives. Many weasels and chamchas will roar out the virtues of the VIP and we feel the presence of the VIP much earlier and then he or she finally comes and is welcomed with loud yells.well today i sat in the light and then much later came the sun and as has been the norm off late,he rose with a red whimper.

But it did make for good photos, the red sun, round as a bun and quickly everyone had their mobiles out clicking, capturing and freezing the moment.

I saw a bunch of college kids, maybe youngsters just entering their 20's and it brought a smile as memories of me and my batch sitting there on the beach but during the sunset, while i the black sheep, shady one kept gulping raw rum from my quarter bottle.

I don't know why,but i wished the crowd of kids the best in life and hoped that the laughter would remain as well as their friendship. But then you know what and how life behaves and how it can place traps and sinkholes in our paths.

A passage from kambaramayanam flashed in my memory and it is that moment when king Dasaratha sees a white hair near his side burns for the first time and realizes that time was running out and decides to crown lord Rama as the new king.He looks at the white hair and murmurs " the forest is calling for me."

Well as for me i look at the white hair and say REVLON IS CALLING FOR ME.

Redemption-chapter 54

"We spend so long trying to be what other people want, that when we look in the mirror,
we see a stranger."? Anthony T. Hincks

Dilemma

A noble warrior went to the Zen temple seeking peace. Upon finding the master in calm meditation, the warrior was overcome with sadness. Though he knew he had fought bravely and justly his entire life, he feared that he would never possess the grace of the man before him.

"Why do I feel so inferior?" asked the warrior. "I know I have fought with honor, defended the weak, and I have nothing to be ashamed of. Yet seeing you just now, I felt my life had no significance whatsoever."

"Wait a while," said the master, smiling. "I will speak with you after I attend to the other visitors."

The warrior sat beneath a garden tree as visitors streamed through the temple, each one leaving the gentle master with expressions of warmth in their faces. The warrior grew even sadder.

As night fell and the visitors dwindled, the warrior became distressed and asked the master, "Can you teach me now?"
The master nodded and they walked to the rear study, where the moon shone through a giant window, washing everything in pale white light.

"Do you see the moon, how beautiful it is?" said the master. "It will cross the sky, and make way for the sun. The sun is much brighter, and stronger, and can illuminate clouds and mountains and trees in ways that the moon cannot. Yet... I have never heard the moon complain Why don't I shine like the sun, is it because I am inferior?'"

"Of course not," said the warrior. "The sun and the moon are different, each has its own beauty. You cannot compare the two."

"So you know your answer. We are two different people, each fighting in his own way for that which he believes, and making it possible to make the world a better place; the rest are mere appearances."

SOUL TALK AS SOULS TALK

Rudran took a sip from his cup of coffee and placing it back on the table stared at it lost in his thoughts and Police commissioner rakesh menon continued to stare at him.

Then forgetting his position, forgetting the surroundings he looked at rudran who looked up at the same time and as their eyes met,Rudran flashed a smile and " sir,ask me what ever it is you want to ask me and i promise i will answer them honestly."

Rakesh menon " tell me about yourself, that is only if you are willing to do so."

Rudran shrugged his shoulders "sir,i am just a normal guy like everyone else.I had parents,a normal childhood,a normal teenage life and after college i decided to join the Police dept because of my economic stability. We are pretty well off and hence i decided to dedicate myself to the people of this nation and for the nation itself."

Rakesh menon " sorry mr.rudran, but i have to confess that i feel that there is nothing normal about you."

Rudran looked at him in surprise " nothing normal about me.I guess you are judging me with what happened today and what has transpired over the past week. But sir, that is due to my training and maybe a bit of luck and also that these criminals had probably never faced an opponent with my level of training and expertise and well it was their bad luck i suppose that they happened to cross paths with me.So let me assure you that i am as normal as you and the next person."

Rakesh " oh,i am using the word normal not in relation to the current cases and what i meant was that you are not normal in a good sense. And that applies when it comes to your job and as a human being. You are not corrupted or tainted like the rest of us and i can sense the motivation and discipline is still burning strong in you and as brightly as ever."

Seeing Rudran stare at him,Rakesh menon sighed " mr.rudran,i envy you for what you are and what you are doing.Long ago i was like you,all fire and zeal but a few years into my job,all of that was trampled into dust by people in office and people with political power and money power.I have been transferred so many times that i became desolate and my vision wavered and now i sit before you all diluted and waiting for my term to get over.I don't think i will feel bad when i hang up my uniform and turn my back on this job for i have ended up doing more bad than good.Honestly, let me confess that many a time i wish i had joined the army for at least then i wouldn't have witnessed so much corruption and abuse of power."

Rudran nodded " i totally agree with you sir.But i have lot of sympathy for the police dept and the armed forces for they are at the beck and call of these bas***d politicians who come to power very briefly and yet leave behind such chaos and damage. At some point,be it a police officer or an army man, everyone stops and wonders 'what the heck am i doing here, slogging my backside for this country, when no one recognizes our sacrifice or the conditions we work in.For example,a typical police man has only a lathi with which to protect himself from criminals who wield knives and guns and let me be brutally honest when i say, that most of us would run to save their lives and would be justified in those circumstances. The naive and stupid public never realise that even a policeman can be targeted by the very same criminals who target them, hiding behind the ruling party. That is why,i never show mercy to these bas***ds who carry guns and target innocent people.I might even turn a blind eyes to petty thefts or small crimes of that nature but i never turn away from people who are involved in kidnapping, murder for hire and terrorist activities."

Rakesh menon smiled understandingly " are you married?"

Rudran shook his head " no sir, unmarried and i doubt if i will ever be married."

" But surely, you must have met someone who interested you or at least someone who showed interest in you."

Rudran stared at the steam coming off the coffee cup and with a shy smile " probably."

Rakesh " Probably,that's it.go on now."

Rudran " well, there is this lady who i have met recently and i sense her interest in me but i am not sure what to make of it or where her feelings are coming from.I mean if they are coming from the right place or artifically created by certain circumstances we both were in."

Police commissioner rakesh looked at rudran with a paternal feeling " i suppose this lady's name is Renuka, the daughter of Kandaswamy mudaliyar."

Rudran nearly jumped out of his chair " what, but how."

Rakesh menon " son,i am pretty sure that you have a wiz brain and genius thought process but i too possess a little bit of that although probably not in the same range as yours."

Rudran looked at rakesh and rakesh looked back at rudran and he knew the commissioner had made the connections from the phoenix mall case and his subsequent involvement in the kidnapping case of Rahul agarwals grandkid's.

Rudran raised his cup in salute " bravo, bravo sir."

Rakesh " so,what is the problem or why the dilly dallying."

Rudran shook his head " I have too much going on in my life sir,too much of stuff which is dangerous and as it is,me and my family are being targeted by a dangerous criminal and if they know that i have someone in my life via the way of love interest, then she and her family will become targets too.Knowingly or unknowingly,i am not prepared to put any other person in danger because of me and my job.Maybe some of us are doomed to spend their lives alone,in their lonely jobs of protecting and defending the little good that still remains in this world."
