Yeahhh! It's cool though! 😆
I strongly believe that a parent should have the final say in deciding your career as long as you're dependent.
And I feel the opposite.. Just because a parent is paying for the admission fees, that doesn't mean that this young adult shouldn't have a say or choice in selecting his/ her career. Why should a child nod his head in a 'yes' just to keep mom/dad happy? Mom dad ne tohh jee li apni zindagi! How suffocated would he feel if he keeps forcing a parent's choice on himself?
If you're driven enough to get something then by all means rebel! Stand your ground. Find a way to get what you want.
Haan this I Agree! 😆 You have to be a little obsessed with your dreams. People will call u 'ziddi' but hey, what do they know.. 😉
When you're independent, you've already proved that you can sustain yourself if required. Then nobody can stop you. You can't expect to be mollycoddled all the time.😛
Yeah! But don't wait to be independent and then start chasing ur dreams! In India, this is a HUGE problem especially with the young women! After 30, in common households, ur life is 'sacrificed' to ur sasural and ur kids.. and before 30, u are expected to have a career which ur parents decided for u when u were 15.. So this philosophy of first become independent and then live ur life- "aaj kare so kal kar.. kal kare so parso.. itni jaldi kya hai jab jeena hai barso" doesn't work!
Don't just sustain urself- LIVE ur life! I know kaafi difficult lagta hai yeh sab actual mein karna! But there are some crazies who do this- and survive to tell the tale! 😆 I didn't spend a lot of time in India after competing my 12th. Out here in US, I saw 40-50 year olds getting college degrees.. I even had a 60 year old in my class! I was like WOW- they didn't give up.. They made different choices when they were young and now they were changing careers. I can do that too in case, I realize my choices and rebellion was wrong! So it strengthened & reinforced my beliefs over the years. U can be whatever u want to be.. and u can do whatever u want to do! I was like- "Koi baat nahii beta Jahhnavi, agar galtii bhi ho gayii tohh phir se chance mil jaayega" 😉

P.s. you're a med major? Aashirvaad please!
Aashirvaad putrii 🤣
P.p.s.- I went through your profile, what does RN stand for?
Registered Nurse from California -and I am working on changing that as well! 😉

But I would definitely not agree that Ramesh didn't have guts. He did and that's why he ran away from home chasing his dreams. Dadaji forcefully brought him back home after 6 months. Not everyone can reach dreams immediately and certain achievements take time and lot of persistence is needed. Ramesh failed because he was too emotional. He couldn't go against his father more.

Ramesh has the flair for singing and has potential which could have been developed by Dadaji. Is Nisha a good shooter now? She is going to undergo training right? Who knows what training could have done to Ramesh?

Again...just keep the past aside...what is Dadaji doing with Ramesh now? From what we saw in the episodes earlier...is taunting about ones past failures good? Insulting in front of his own children and others good? That's where I feel Dadaji was the one who was wrong in the past because people who make mistakes rarely admit.

You know, I would LOVE to see Ramesh pursuing his dreams abhi bhi.. and work and train to become a singer! Mayyybe he secretly starts singing at a local orchestra late at nights.. 😆 And in the morning, Dadaji thinks he's having a hangover by looking at his red eyes.. 😆 He can continue working at the jewelry shop during days! Crazy I know, but atleast he'll get a satisfaction of performing as a musician.😃
And I completely agree with 'What is Dadaji doing now?' Taunting him for something he did 2 decades ago? What izzat has Ramesh earned through his career at the shop? Is he happy? Why do u think he has a drinking problem? Has he accomplished all his goals when he was forced to become a jeweler? All I know is RL are always struggling with their finances. Broke my heart when they gifted a jacket to Nisha on her birthday. The elder brothers-Viren and Mohan tauji- fail to even ackowledge that he's being discriminated against when it comes to their paychecks? Mumbai se waapis laa kar Babuji ne kaun sa palace banwaaya Ramesh ke liye? 6 months alag rehhne ki hee saza mil rahi hai abb tak?

The thing which makes me like Ramesh a lot is...he still smiles even after so many difficulties. He doesn't care what others say about him, for him the happiness of all the kids is more valuable.

Ramesh pursuing his dreams now may not happen, but he will make sure his kids pursue their dreams and achieve in their life. I felt so bad when Sukku shouted at Ramesh that he never wants to become like him.

Answers for your questions...😆
Nothing...no respect..no happiness staying in the shop. It's a source of income for him, which is more important to lead their lives.

Is he happy? He is happy when his kids are happy. He probably has stopped thinking of his happiness.

He drinks because he doesn't want to think about that 6 months and his failure, which is baar baar raised in the house by everyone. He feels it's because of that 6 months that he is unable to keep his family happy.

I really feel bad for RL. They have equal share in the house, but they never get it. They are trying their best to manage their finances. Viren and Mohan, even after knowing Ramesh's condition still get him into problems cutting his pay. Though Lakshmi works, she is taking care of her mother also. With all this, they want to give all the facilities and fulfill all the wishes of their kids.
Dadaji has made sure that Ramesh regrets mistake for his entire life and never move on. He hasn't tried to understand his perspective at all, and his style of parenting. Freedom of speech and expression doesn't mean they are arrogant and badtameez. I am happy RL hasn't suppressed their children. Even though they have a weak position in the house, they have made sure their kids are strong. Ramesh, even now can rebel, and talk against Dadaji to his face, telling how his non-support has caused him his life and happiness. But he won't because he is a father now.

There are lot of unconventional professions and kids can have interest in that. Parents have to support them and see how best they can come up. Being successful in a career where they have no interest in will never give them happiness.

Sports is also a profession where there is high risk...which Nisha is going to take.

@Bold: Yepp.. I did a paper in my psychology class once.(Why do u think I am on Shekhs team, haan?😆) I read about kids going through severe depression, having anger problems, doing drugs, alcohol problems, having anxiety, and contemplating suicide.. Why? Just because their parents didn't allow them to become what they wanted to be.. That's why I feel losing kids this way is difficult, than accepting their choices or working together to reach a common point! 😊

Though I haven't done any paper on Psychology, I am very much interested in human behaviour. (Team Shekhs ki Jai..😆) Have worked closely with kids and parents during my previous stint. Anyways, as you said, a gap between parents and children arises when the parents outrightly disposes the kids' ideas and dreams. Even if it is logically impossible, there is way to convey them. As Lakshmi said, allow them to fall but be there to give them the hand to get up. Life becomes easier then.

@bold That explains Ramesh's problem.

@Bold: And this is what I fail to understand in the older generation 😆 Mayyybe I am too inexperienced and young to get it... HOW DO U "LIVE" and BREATHE WITH THIS BURDEN, DADAJI?
Meri toh conscience hee mujhe maar daalegii if I realize I stopped an individual from fulfilling his aims! And Dadaji actually uses this as a weapon against Ramesh!! 😲
I mean, HOW do u do that? How do u become so mean and selfish at that age? "Dekho maine tumhein roka, aur abhi bhi tum dukhi ho, but I don't care coz I had my way??" WTH 😕 Kya mentality hai yeh!? Kaun sa ehsan kia janam de ke phir if he just wanted Ramesh to be his clone?🤢

That's what I don't understand about Dadaji. He is so wise otherwise but when it comes to Ramesh, he becomes so... Apne zindagi ki panne palatke dekho Ramesh! Why? To see how disastrously he has failed. Is Dadaji trying to cover up his failure as father by blaming Ramesh?

That's because Dadaji thinks he did the right thing by stopping Ramesh, shooting his dreams. He thinks he has done the best by bringing him back and make him sit in the shop. He is doing the same with Umesh too. Who knows Viren and Mohan too had dreams which they never had the courage to tell Dadaji.

I remember the line from Ramesh...Ek ehsaas hote hai jo hum zindagi ki khushi kehte hai..something like that. Dadaji wants his children's life to be successful, even at the cost of their unhappiness.

Oh haan... Umesh is suffering too! Man, that kid needs to get out of that place. He's becoming a scaredy cat day by day & if Aman were my sister, tohh I would definitely ask her to reconsider her decision of marrying such a coward. Sorry, Viraj. Umesh should just elope and start a dhaba with Amanpreet.. Best Love Story Ending EVER! 😆
