They hyped the entire childhood lovers thing to a different level. Because in the original book it was different. Devdas wasn't even that attached with Parvati neither was Paru found by Dev's father and the additional drama.

Well, I told you, already I totally don't like the story, casting was great. Am not even interested in the book.
Dances were awesome, which we can't deny.
Also SLB just uses grandeur, Kalank many just saw the movie for grandeur and sets.
