Yes, actually we have this joke about engineering, find me one home in which there isn't an engineer. 😆 People really are entering engineering like crazy, every boy wants to be one now. I want to enter it because I really love computers, but see many friends entering just because. That's why the stats say that only 20% or so engineers are good enough to work properly in the industry.

They basically check ranks and stuff and if the college admitting is a properly recognized institution. Basically, banks want to ensure that the student will get a job and will be able to pay them back.

@FT True. Thank God I was good in deciding against Engg at the last moment😆

#Student Loan...so the banks will wait till the student get the job. Till that the student need not pay interest?

If it wasn't your passion, then definitely good for you. 😆

IIRC, they don't charge interest for the course duration i.e. four years for engineering. After that, they will charge interest, whether you got a job or not.

I took science in high school..which itself was a huge mistake. I was about to get into an engg college paying 3 or 4 lakhs...but thankfully I got enlightenment and told my parents I dont want to do engg..😆 as my goal was MBA..😊

Its risky to take student loans then...if the student does not get a job...parents will have to pay...and loan itself would have been taken as parents cannot afford such a huge amount.

Good you realized it sooner than later.

Any loan is risky, you need to have confidence that you may be able to make it work and pay it back. Although Banks do their research too and provide loans to those who they have confidence in. Not everyone can get it.

In the case, students have to be matured and take a proper decision which will not affect their future. It should not be like they become an engineer but for their entire life they repay their loan.

Not just in engineering, for any stream. But that's the problem isn't it, to earn you gotta study, and to study you need money.

@FT True. Any stream the case is like this. But why does not the government regulate the fees private colleges are getting? Atleast that will give some relief. And in the name of donation lakhs are being got from students. Should not govt do something to make students education affordable for eveyone?

Yes, that' s a major problem. Government should regulate and subsidize fees, make it affordable for everyone to get education. But they can't do anything about donation, that's not an official matter and people can go on merit instead of paying money. Education needs a great haul in this country.

@FT I dont know about other states, but here in TN..government has regulated fees of private schools. Hopefully same thing should happen with colleges also. And nowadays in every street along with an engineering student there is an engineering college also😆
