Today Raavi raised the Q of expence for education &. Lack of them for them .

My problem with this is point is valid but has anyone thought abt it ? Like in this family one sole earner & 5 mouths to feed , among them jeet is looking @ 3 college expenses . Plus not to mention his retirement . Raavi was looking @ prestigious college which is very expensive , shouldnt jeet explain to her that same education she can get somewhere se with less money which doesnt shove family in debt . I m not against raavi for choosing the college but she is bit too young to realise this on her own . Thus job falls to jeet & pinky . As for sunny , atleast he realised there is a problem & found easy solution for 10 year old can .

All parents teach their kids abt value of money & lack if them . Educate them abt not having enough or how the system works . Not all parents afford expensive education & expensive education doesnt insure great job prospects . Parents should teach children to realistic achievement rather then great dream .

@Nets Yes a very valid point raised. (I dont want to go into execution)

Cost of education has definitely soured up a lot in the past 5 years. Even if you get the best of the marks, you still need to pay in lakhs. As parents even though they can make their child realise the situation, they cannot stop her/him from reaching their goal. In that case, goals itself has to be set according to family financial situation is it?

In India, only rich can become doctors. I am serious. Many students have stopped dreaming to become doctors.

As for Raavi...it is complicated. She is not a baby to be ignorant about how fees are in today's world. It is weird that she does not know how much fees is being charged in the college she is dreaming to enter.

For me...I think is paying so much money and studying worth it? Why not study something that comes in less amount and yet try to achieve in ur life?? I did that in my life...and I am proud of myself for that.

totally agreed. It doesn't really matter in which college do you study! All matters is how well do you study! (well prestigious colleges do offer better education but not everyone is meant to attend those institutions.)

@Pritam I dont completely agree that prestigious colleges offer better education. Normal colleges also give good education. The main difference big colleges bring in is campus placement and the name of the college itself.

PS: Will continue discussion tomr:)

I would rather slightly disagree with all of u
In all fields there are some prestigious government institutes that offer quality education and job prospects at a very nominal fee.
but the rue of the nation is that the ratio of such institutes to students is very very low.
BUT still rather than giving up ur dream and chosing a second strung field which u dont really enjoy is even more miserable.
And parents are in a way justified to spend that money into education taking the burden upon themselves.
And as in show so far in all the approx 350 episodes the way character of jeet and pinky has shaped up they are shown to be the parents that will try that extra bit when required for their childern especially there darling sweetheart raavi.
So lets face it this is a truth. There are many many parents out there like jeet and pinky.

@dmg I quite agree with your point too. There are few govt institutes which do give education at an affordable fee.
But the prob is..nowadays the criteria is just not the marks only(atleast in TN state) your caste is taken into account, your second language is taken into account...that is seriously unfair.

Dream is in one place..but the student shud be ready to face reality too. If they dont get into the institute, they need to be practical abt it.

As for JP, yes they are the kind of parents who are ready to do anything but fulfill their children's dream. But somewhere I find in impractical. They need to think about the other 2 kids too. If JP takes a huge loan say 12lakhs...they need to repay it...and is risky to take another loan for Raashi's education. And if they don't fulfill Raashi's dream saying they can't take loan...problems of partiality will start

i really dont know how colleges and stuff works in India...
all i can say is that if u do well in studies and are good in it... and are willing to put in time and effort into ur studies then ur parents should spend the money...
so Raavi should try to get out of her dream world and should think more practical.. like does she know the fees of the school, whether the school is the one that will help her achieve something or is she just joining it for cause of its big name!!!

There is another point too. Parents can spend the money if the child is really the best and will do great justice to the course she/he is going to join in that big college.

There is no point is spending lakhs when the student is an average student. The child will never be able to cope up with the course, parents will feel the heat as the child is not performing and their money is wasted. Relationship will be affected then.

@Shwets
Firstly regardin institutes i meant like IIT's and NIT's and other in similar ballpark for engineering aspirants.
I mean lyk in my college in Chandigarh only criterion is your rank in entrance exam(in my case AIEEE). and it is a reputed institue with good placment stats and there is no such concept of donation or such and even fees is quite reasonable.
And i know quite a few of such colleges in north. In Maharashtra as far as i have seen in local colleges condition is more grave
i would also agree on ur point about medical.
There the situation is more malignant.and true that except for a top 1000-2000 AIPMT cleared students all have to pay a heavy donation for entring into any prestigious instiutte
