Savenavya - A campiagn from the heart for something that touches lakhs n lakhs of hearts.
It has been barely 4 months and savenavya 1 memory is still fresh in viewers minds.
SaveNavya is a campaign against the unfair and abrupt ending of a show that is still in its prime.A campaign that has been trending for the past 10 days on Twitter, a campaign that has flooded Star Plus offices with calls from India and abroad.
Navya has always been a show that has tried to bring something new,something fresh for the viewers to rejoice.
The show and its characters are tailor made and suit their roles perfectly.
The USP of this show are the leads and their on screen chemistry, that makes millions and millions of hearts swoon and fall in love again.
The story has been going smoothly with the regular doses of ups and downs that,I am sure, that all shows go through.
But all of a sudden, especially when, new changes, nayi soch was just starting to seep into the charcaters of the show, a bomb gets dropped on the viewers that the show is going off air in few weeks time.
Just like the last time(Save Navya1), this time too, the ending is abrupt because there are so many more issues tht need to be addressed in this show and in the society that the show is trying to reflect and change.
Star Plus is a channel that itslef claims to be the frontrunner in its attempt to bring about change in the society.The tagline for the channel is "Nayi soch ki nayi leher". And when a show is following its tagline to the T, a decision is made by them to axe it??How fair is that?
Now coming to the viewers sentiments, there are lakhs and lakhs of viewers that breathe this show day in and day out.
These include not only the youth and college going students but working women and full time mums.And the show's popularity is not only limited to India but millions of viewers abroad- US,UK,Canada,MiddleEast,Pakistan..you name a country, and we have it.
Star Plus claims that the show garners low TRPs...our question is- what kind of TRPs does this channel expect at a 6PM slot??
With zero, absolute zilch promotions, how does a channel expect high TRPs and how does it expect to pull in more audiences??
We see all other shows getting regular promos or atleast banner promotions in between other shows.Then why not Navya?Why this unfair treatment to this particular show??
And just for the information, Navya's TRPs are close on heels with the next show at 6.30.Then why does Navya have to bear the brunt??
Also,I would like to add here , the method of calculating TRPs has still so much left to be desired for.There are so many discrepancies in calculating the said TRPs.
Fans and viewers of this show have been campaigning incesscently for the past 10 days.And these fans to know how to fight coz they have done it in the past and that too not long ago, barely a few months.
So,as a parting note, all I want to request, as a viewer and as someone who professes change and development in the society, that let Navya be.
Let it breathe for some more time, let it show to the society and to the world what it intends to.
And a request to the channel from an ardent and sincere viewer, sometimes, decisions should not be based only on the monetary aspect.In this dog eats dog world, sometimes, lets try to act emotionally, lets take a smile on that face as a reward for the time and effort..What say??
