Hope you are all well! I am back with the FF update! Sorry for the wait again but after Sacrifice is finished I will hopefully be able to update more often after exams of course! 😭 This is quite a long update but a bit boring after the Anya convo so I am really sorry for not making this one as entertaining! Please leave your honest comments and views!

Part 24

Navya got back home in her apartment and went straight to into her room to change. She lay on her bed for a few minutes and thought about her life. She smiled thinking about all the positivity that was around her and her thoughts trailed towards Raj. For some reason she felt there was something wrong. "Dunno why he is like that... he is such a nice guy but his life seems very out of place!" Navya wanted to be his friend and help him. She looked to her right to see her laptop and thinks to go on Skype and talk to her gang and see if Anant is also there.

She logs onto the computer and opens up Skype. She rings Anant through it. In Mumbai, Anant is resting on the bed with the laptop open coincidently. Anant hears the message and jumps up he sees a message flashing and looks at it for a second and closes his eyes. He opens them again and is shocked to see it is Navya. "NAVYA! he sort of shouted but then covered his mouth as someone might hear him. He clicks on his Skype and accepts it. He sorts his hair out and lays on his stomach on the bed. Navya smiles as she sees Anant. They just stare at each other for a few minutes. Pehla Pyaar plays. They smile at each other and Navya starts crying in happiness. "Navya!" Anant broke the silence. "Dont cry... I dont want you to cry... I want you to smile!" Anant brushes his fingers over Navya's face on the screen and smiles. "Anant.. are you okay?!" she wanted to tell him everything. " I am okay Navya... but life here is so incomplete without you... but I will always support you in every decision!" he smiled and reassured her. "Now tell me pagal ladki how are you? How is New York and how is your work?!" he got really excited to find out. Navya giggled. "Hehe... Anant all of these questions at once, well firstly I am doing really well.. you know Anant the people here, the life here it is very similar to Mumbai.. no one has time, they live there life with freedom and no rules! Then... my work well I started today at the hospital and I am working in Cardiology... I have also made some friends and it is just AMAZING!" Anant smiled as he imagined him being there with her. Anant became slightly emotional. "Navya... you know I really am happy for you! I can't express how happy I really am about your success... but in my heart you not being here hurts me but I know you will be back and I dont want anything to come in between your dream!" they both continued to chat and Anant didn't attend college and Navya slept for a few hours because it was night there.

Navya showed him every room in the apartment and he was amazed at the class and beauty of it. The conversation filled the gap of their relationship which the distance was killing. Navya woke up to find the laptop still on and she could still see Anant's room clearly. "Pagal Ladka, left the laptop on and was probably watching me sleep as well!" she hit her head and closed down the laptop and charged it before she went to work. She rushed into the bathroom and had a quick shower before she ate her breakfast. She came out in a high waist skirt with a shirt and her hair down. She used the hair dryer quickly and the straighteners to make herself look presentable. She applied light make up and she was set to go. She took her phone and keys and locked the house.

Downstairs she caught the lift and got in a taxi and set off to work. She stopped halfway to get a latte from Starbucks and went straight to work. She went into the hospital signed herself in and went straight to the Cardiology department. She passed by a number of patients and wished them a good morning. She bumped into Raj and he dropped all his files due to the collision. "I'm so sorry Raj!" Navya apologised. Raj smiled. "Hey.. it's okay dont worry about it!" he looked at her and smiled and he couldn't take his eyes off her innocence. He finally gathered all of the files. "So what are you going to do today?!" Raj added as they both stood up. "Well... I think I am going to do a few more tests in the Cardiology department and then tomorrow will move elsewhere. Wherever Mr Mehta tells me to go!" Navya smiled. They walked down the corridor together and then Navya entered the ward and started working alongside the head of Cardiology Dr Steve Phillips. "Hey Doctor... what will I be doing today?!" Navya asked eagerly. He explained to her what she will be doing and she started working enthusiastically.

Raj made sure she was okay and kept checking on her. Navya felt a bit weird always being around him and tried to maintain a distance but the more she moved away the closer he got to her. She knew there was something about him that she found very strange. They had lunch together and Navya bought up the question again "Raj... yesterday you didn't tell me who was in your family?!" she added cautiously. Raj tried to shift the conversation by offering her more sandwiches but she was adamant to know. Just then his phone rang and he went off the table. Navya was lost in thoughts to why he was not answering her. "There is something for sure that he is hiding I wonder what it is?!"

Navya finished her lunch and he still wasn't back it was time for her next shift and she stood up when she noticed he left his wallet. She decided to pick it up and go and find him. After searching she found him on the balcony of the hospital by himself. He was crying and looking at the night sky as the sun lowered. She heard his weeping and approached him. She held his shoulder and he jumped in fear. "Navya you here!" he looked away and wiped his eyelids for any tears. "Raj are you crying?!" Navya asked. "No Navya... I am not crying... I remembered that I have to go to the unit upstairs and check on a patient!" he tried to walk off when Navya stopped him with her hand. "Raj.. wait your wallet!" he took it and ran off into the ward. Navya was left shocked and worried. She needed to do something and find out.

Later that evening she finished off her shift in the ward and went home. She thought of a plan and rang up the hospital to get Raj's address because she didn't know where it was. "Thanks a lot Sheila!" she said to the receptionist. She grabbed her purse and went down to catch a taxi. It was nearing 9pm and she passed the address onto the taxi driver who knew where the apartment was. It was quite far from her apartment but she didn't mind. She decided to stop on the way and get some coffee and noodles to cheer him up. She didn't know what they were like but she wanted to cheer him up. The taxi stopped and she paid for the fare. She caught the lift to the 21st floor and was amazed at the beauty of the apartments around. "Afterall, he is a doc!" she giggled to herself.

She knocked on the door a couple of times but no answer. She rang the bell and then someone opened the door. It was Raj. She looked at him and she could see he was crying. She was shocked. "Navya!" Raj was too in the same shock as he didn't expect her to be at his house. He let her in and wiped his face. She walked into see the house was a mess. Everything was scattered and it was a complete mess. She went straight into the kitchen to take out the coffee and food because she knew he hadn't eaten because the kitchen was spotless. Raj followed her in. "Navya why are you here?!" Raj asked. "Because I am worried about you... you are not looking after yourself and why are you upset? I want to know!" she went to him and sat him down. She got a plate and took the noodles out of the container then gave him his coffee. "Navya I dont want it!" Raj said. Navya put her hands on her waist. "Raj... my mum says that if someone offers you food you must not decline it!" she smiled innocently and he agreed. "Okay...but you have some too!" he added. She showed him her noodles and coffee and they both had dinner together. Raj felt bad but his pain couldn't vanish.

Navya thought in her mind. "I will find out what is wrong and will help you Raj!" she added. They finished dinner and Navya cleaned up the mess. She started cleaning the living room and Raj tried to stop her. "Raj let me do it... what are friends for?!" she smiled. They both cleaned the house together and then she sat down with him. "Raj... I know you are sad about something and I can see it in your eyes.. I have known you for only a couple of days but I can see there is a pain that is inside you and that is affecting you in every way! I know we have not known each other for long and you are still getting to know me but what is the matter? I can't see my friend sad!" she put her hand on his shoulder and he looked at her. "Navya... it's not that I dont trust you...it's just I dont and I can't share it! There is no point!" Raj looked down. Navya knew this wouldn't be an easy task. "Raj you know sharing your problems eases the pain!" Raj looked at her and tears started flowing from his eyes. "Navya... it's from childhood that I have had this problem... but you will promise you won't tell anyone?!" Raj finally agreed and made her give a promise.

"Raj I promise I won't tell anyone!" she put her hand on his and firmly agreed.
