She eventually fell asleep watching Grey's Anatomy without setting an alarm. The morning came quite quickly and she woke up at 6.30am wanting to wake up at 6. However, she quickly turned off the TV and switched her laptop off and charged it. She rushed in the shower and got dressed within half an hour in her formal attire. Luckily her hair was straight and she quickly combed it and looked presentable. She applied light makeup and some perfume and rushed in the kitchen.

"Oh god... what am I going to eat? Where's mum when you need her?!" she remembered and got a little upset. She raided the fridge and found some milk and got some crumpets from the side and put them in the grill to toast. She quickly drank some milk while they were done and applied some butter on them. She had 10 minutes to eat them and then she needed to catch a taxi to the hospital for 8am. She ate her breakfast and left the dishes in the sink to wash later. She grabbed her purse, phone and her belongings and left the apartment making sure all the doors were closed.

She caught a taxi and asked the driver to take her to the hospital. The car set off for the hospital and it sped through the roads of New York. Beeping and traffic emerged as she got closer to the hospital and Navya smiled to herself. She spoke to herself "However modern or unique New York is.. its just like Mumbai when it comes to traffic!" the driver looked at her through the mirror and pulled a strange face. "Are you okay there?!" he said in his new york accent. She looked up and realised he heard her. "Yeah I am fine!" she replied in English. They soon reached the hospital and Navya paid and thanked the driver. She looked at the hospital and was amazed at the infrastructure of it.

She was excited but she had butterflies in her stomach because it was a new beginning and a new start that was filled with opportunities but her heart was still unsure with the way her life would be in New York. She entered the hospital and went straight to the reception desk. She smiled at the lady and said "Hello!" she smiled "One second!" the woman was frantically writing and on the phone at the same time. Navya felt weird. She put the phone down and walked off to get a file. "Excuse me!" Navya said and she walked off. Navya was shocked. She was confused by her behaviour. "Miss Mishra!" Navya turned around to find her manager Mr Shukla. Navya smiled and was relieved she found someone. "Good Morning Mr Shukla!" she shook his hand and smiled professionally. He welcomed her into the hospital and took her to the appropriate unit. "Sir what unit will I be working in today!" she tried to start a conversation as they went up the elevator to the floor. "Well Navya on your application form you said you have a keen interest in all areas of medicine so I think we should start you off in the cardiology unit today and you will rotate and move everyday!" he smiled as they reached the floor. "After you!" he added. She followed him to the main unit where all the doctors and junior doctors were together to welcome her.

She was slightly nervous as everyone was looking at her intently. Mr Shukla smiled at everyone. "Good Morning all, this is Miss Navya Mishra from Mumbai... she is the new intern here and she will be going into all departments helping senior doctors and getting valuable experience!" everyone smiled at her and they all started greeting her. After a few people a young and dashing man came up to Navya and said "Hello Miss Mishra!" he put his hand out to greet her and smiled at her romantically. He was completely awestruck by her beauty and innocence. Navya was a little tense and she shook his hand. "Hello Sir!" he smiled as they shook hands. "Not Sir... call me Raj!" he added. "Sure!" Navya added. She slowly moved away and he watched her walk off. "Wow!" he said to himself.

She was taken to meet the senior doctors of the department and they helped her get used to the work and the department. Navya was showing her talent and intelligence amongst all the junior doctors and they were highly impressed. "I must say Miss Mishra, your knowledge on Cardiovascular Disease is very sound, please fellow doctors learn from this young lady!" everyone started asking Navya questions about how she remembers it so well. Amongst the group was a girl called Shraddha who was from Bangalore she was jealous of the attention she was getting from everyone. "Miss Know it all!" she murmured under her breath. She was taken to perform some tests on patients in the unit and to get familiar working in this type of environment. Her first shift was 9am to 2pm and then 5pm to 10pm. Her colleague was none other than Raj.

He was ecstatic when he found out he was working with Navya. Together, they had to perform a series of tests on patients and take them for sampling in the labs and then write reports on the findings in the computer suite. "So Navya... have you lived in Mumbai all your life?!" he tried to find more about her. "Yeah I have lived there since childhood but my family are originally from Kanpur and that is where I was born!" Navya added and she got a bit emotional thinking about her family. She was quiet for a few seconds. "Are you okay Navya? That's really nice to know... waise it must be hard leaving your family like that since you are a girl and going to a completely different country I must say you are really brave!" Raj tried to reassure her. "Yeah I am fine... just got a bit upset but my family were very supportive, I didn't want to go but my Dad encouraged me to do so!" she added. Raj smiled and they continued writing the report. "So where are you from?!" she asked after 5 minutes. "Me.. well I am from India but I moved here 2 years ago from Delhi... I got the same internship as you and then they offered me a job to stay so I decided to move here!" Raj added. Navya nodded. "What about your family?!" she replied. Raj looked at her for a few minutes with a blank face. "I dont have any family!" Raj replied. He stood up and went to the printer to avoid eye contact. Navya was shocked. She didn't know what to say. She felt weird, she wanted to help him and talk to him but she didn't want to make him feel bad. She didn't pluck up the courage and the whole day passed.

She got to know Raj a bit better and he got to know her better as well. They spent most of the day together and he even offered to drop her home as it was the first day. It was around 10.30pm and she was dropped home by Raj. She liked him but she felt there was a mystery behind his life. Something happened in his life that has transformed him into another person.

Precap: Navya decides to Skype Anant at night time in New York because it will be early morning in India. Anant is getting ready in his room when his laptop flashes. He looks at it to see Navya calling him. He jumps on the bed and opens his Skype account and they start talking.
