And about the bangles thing, its a spoiler which I told Tanu also, but just read it here! See, he wanted to do something special for Navya, especially that his family wanted to get him married. Since in my fic, their family is based in Kanpur, so all the pushtaini jewelry is there too. When he went to talk to Mohan, as described in an earlier chapter, he told him the plan, and Mohan went to the locker and took out the bangles. He'll tell this to Navya in the next chapter, as she too asks him the same question before he puts on the bangles! The Meeta-Anant confrontation is gonna be a bit different, so I'm hoping you all will like it! Its not for another 2 chapters though!

Chapter 10: Meeta sees Anant

Author's Note: Extremely for the delay, I've been really busy with some work. Won't be able to update next week cause I've got relatives coming over, so will be a bit busy taking them around. I'll try and write a chapter by this Friday, and then ask my awesome beta to upload it, but only if things work out. Till then, hope you like this chapter, and do press like and leave your comments!

(Navya's Tayaajee's house, Kanpur)

"Navya, tum dono ka kya dimaag kharab ho gaya tha? Aise wahaan pe baithe the, jaise akele mein ho! Agar koi aa gaya hota toh?" chided Renuka, as she was sitting with Navya in the latter's room.

"Di, main kya karti? Usne mujhe shaadi ke liye propose kiya, toh main bahut bahut bahut khush thi! Toh is sab ka khayal hi nahi aaya man mein!" replied Navya, with a dreamy look in her eyes.

"Kya? Anant ne tujhe propose kiya? Aur tune kya kaha?" asked Renuka, visibly shocked.

"Maine haan keh diya di! Vaise bhi main toh usse he shaadi karna chahti hoon, toh haan toh kehna hi tha!"

"Navi, tujhe pata hai naa ki tune kya kiya? Shaadi tu Anant se kar rahi hai, lekin tujhe uske family ke saath bhi rehna hoga, aur Anant ki family ko tu mujhse behtar jaanti hai. Main maanti hoon ki maa-papa humein zyaada chooth nahi dete, lekin Anant ke yahaan toh humare ghar se bhi zyaada kaid hai! Apne pasand se khana, kapde pehenna, bahar jaana, Rits-Appy se milna, yeh sab tu nahi kar paayegi. Iske baare mein tune kabhi socha hai? Ki bas emotional hoke haan keh diya?" said Renuka, rather pensively.

"Di, is sab ke baare mein main jaanti hoon. Lekin yeh bhi jaanti hoon ki Anant mujhse bahut pyaar karta hai, aur mujhe hamesha khush rakhega. Voh hamesha mere saath hoga." replied Navya with conviction.

"Agar tujhe is baat par bharosa hai ki Anant tera saath kabhi nahi chodega, toh phir toh main tere liye bahut khush hoon Navi!" said Renu, as she hugged Navya and left the room.

Navya lied down on her bed, and stared at the mehendi on her hands, as she remembered all the moments she'd spent with Anant in Kanpur. While she knew her mother wanted her to forget about Anant in this trip, she realised that she fell all the more in love with Anant, as she got to see a whole new side to him, a side which she loved a lot. With thoughts of Anant in her mind, she fell asleep with a smile on her face, knowing that she was soon going to be a Mrs Anant Bajpaayee.

(Anjali's house, Kanpur)

Anant went up to Mohan's room, and knocked twice on it. Mohan realised that Anant probably was outsid, and he snuck out of the room, so as not to disturb Rama. He always suspected Rama, as he didn't trust her at all, especially after the huge lie she'd told his family, about her false pregnancy.

"Yahaan nahi Anant, tere kamre mein." said Mohan, as he walked with Anant to his room. On reaching there, he closed the door, locked it and turned to face Anant.

"Accha bhai, ab bata. Navya se baat hui?"

"Haan bhai! Khana khilaane ke bahaane main use bahaar le gaya, aur uske baad maine use shaadi ke liye poocha! Usne haan bhi kar di! Bas ab kangan pehnane hain! Thank you so much bhai! Agar aap nahi hote, toh mujhe voh kangan kabhi nahi milte!" gushed Anant, as both of them remembered the conversation they'd had in the morning.

*FLASHBACK*

Anant thought about what Mohan had told him, and realised that he needed to do something to avert his wedding. He had to tell his family about Navya, in a way that they would accept her, and not create too many problems. But what could he do? Suddenly, an idea came into his mind, and he rushed off to find Mohan to tell him about it.

"Bhai, mujhe aapse zaroori baat karni hai." said Anant, as he pulled Mohan aside.

"Haan bol Anant, kya hua?"

"Bhai, aap ne hi kaha tha ki Baba meri shaadi karwaana chahte hain. Toh maine socha, agar unki ladki pasand karne se pehle, main hi Navya ko shaadi ke liye propose karoon toh? Aap hi ne kaha tha, shaadi abhi karne ki zaroorat nahi hai! Voh toh baad mein bhi ho sakti hai, lekin main chahta hoon ki bas duniya ko pata chal jaaye ki humare iraade galat nahi hain. Aapko kya lagta hai?"

"Idea toh accha hai Anant. Lekin yeh sab tu mujhe kyun bata raha hai?"

"Kyunki mujhe aapki thodi help chahiye bhai! Voh jo maa aur bhabhi ke paas voh khandaani kangan hain? Maa ne voh meri hone waali patni ke liye bhi banvaaya tha naa, aapki shaadi ke time pe? Toh agar aap voh locker se nikaal denge?" asked Anant rather hesitatingly.

"Bas? Yeh toh mere baaye haath ka kaam hai! Aaj mehendi ke rasam ke time tak main tumhe voh kangan dilvaadoonga, theek hai?"

"Thank you bhai!" said Anant happily, as he hugged him.

*FLASHBACK ENDS*

Mohan smiled, as he realised his brother was truly happy. He wished he too could have found true love, but he realised that not everyone was so lucky. He hugged Anant, and left the room after a little small talk.

(Navya's Tayaajee's house, Kanpur)

After Navya woke up the next morning, she went along with the rest of the ladies in the house to wash off the mehendi, in the backyard. After everyone's mehendi had been nicely washed off, and only the design was left, Navya was happy to see that her mehendi had turned out very dark and beautiful. She turned to tell Renu that, but to her surprise, she saw a lot of the ladies in the house around her, admiring her mehendi.

"Jee, kuch hua hai kya?" said Navya, a bit apprehensively.

"Beti, tumhari mehendi ka rang bahut accha aaya hai! Itna nikhaar aaya hai isme, aur itna gehra rang hai!"

"Kisi ke naam ki mehendi hai kya Navya beta? Agar hai, toh maan lo ki jiske naam ki mehendi tumne sajaayi hai, voh toh tum pe apni jaan chidakta hai!"

Navya blushed, as she didn't know what to reply to that. Fortunately, Renuka came to her rescue and said, "Nahi kaki jee, yeh toh isne aise hi lagaya hai, wahaan pe sab zor de rahe the hum dono par. Lekin haan bhai Navya, rang toh bahut gehra hai!"

All the ladies hung around a bit longer and admired her mehendi, and finally the crowd began to disperse.

"Navi, teri mehendi ka rang toh sabse gehra hai! Aisa lagta hai ki Anant tujhpe poora lattoo hai!" said Renu with a wink.

"Di! Aap bhi naa!" said Navya, as she blushed and ran off inside. Renu laughed, and looked at the rather bleak color of her mehendi, as she saw Gautam chatting up one of her cousins. A tear unknowingly escaped her eye and fell on her palm, and she closed it tightly as she got up and walked off from there.

As the day passed, everybody in Ravi's house was rushing about, trying to finish the remaining work. Finally, all the ladies went to get dressed. When Navya went into her room, she saw that there was a text message on her phone, and that too from Anant. She read it, and a beautiful smile spread across her face as she read the message.

*TEXT MESSAGE*

Mrs Anant Bajpaayee, aaj thoda jaldi aane ki koshish keejeeye, aapko aapki amaanat jo deni hai! Love you..

*TEXT MESSAGE ENDS*

Navya smiled to herself, and hugged her pillow, as she stared at the message. After about 5 minutes, she came back to reality, and realised she had to get ready, so she kept the phone, and went into the washroom to change.

Finally, everyone was ready, and the baaraat left the house after a few last minute ceremonies. They all left in cars, but parked it a bit far away, and everybody got down, to dance in front of Ravi, who'd climbed up on a horse. Navya too joined in with her cousins, as the rest of the Mishras were watching everyone else.

Finally, the baaraat approached Anjali's house, where Anant was standing along with his relatives. While he pretended to talk to Nimisha, Mohan and some others, his eyes kept darting over to the baraat, trying to catch a glimpse of Navya.

After what seemed like hours to Anant, he saw Navya swirl in front of all those who were dancing, and drop her bangle in the process. As she lifted her head while picking it up, she caught Anant's eye and winked, as she disappeared back into the crowd of dancers. Anant's joy knew no bounds as he saw how beautiful she was looking that night.

All the Mishras came forward, and Anant saw that Meeta was busy with Gudiya, so she hadn't seen him yet. He took the opportunity to run off from there, and he hid near the mandap where he pretended to be checking the things out. His hand went into his pocket where he'd kept the bangles that he had to put on Navya that day, and he felt reassured by the fact that she had agreed to marry him. Now even if God came and asked him to leave Navya, he wasn't going to do so!

As the entire baaraat came in the house, Anant frisked through the crowds, trying to avoid Meeta, while at the same time try and meet Navya. As his eyes were darting around the room, he landed up bumping into Renuka.

"Renuka Di, aap?" said Anant rather nervously.

"Haan main. Kyun? Yahaan nahi aana chahiye tha?" replied Renu with a laugh.

"Nahi, mera matlab voh nahi that Di! Erm, kal ke liye thanks! Voh, maine erm..Navya ko...erm.." stuttered Anant.

"Navi ne mujhe sab bata diya Anant. Main tum dono ke liye bahut khush hoon! Bas meri ek request hai."

"Haan Di, kahiye naa?"

"Meri Navi ko khush rakhna. Voh bahut bholi hai, aur use is duniya ke baare mein kuch nahi pata hai. Vaada karo ki tum use hamesha khush rakhoge? Vaada karo ki tum use kabhi nahi rulaaoge?" said Renu rather seriously.

"Di, Navya meri zindagi hai. Main use kuch nahi hone doonga." replied Anant with a smile.

Renuka smiled back at Anant as she thought to herself how lucky her sister was. Her eyes then found Gautam, who was busy chatting up some girl. She averted her eyes from him, excused herself and walked off to find her mother.

Soon, it was time for the wedding ceremony to begin. All the elders of the Mishra and Bajpaayee families were sitting in the mandap along with the bride and groom. Anant noticed this, and took his chance to find Navya. To his luck, he found her standing next to Renu. For a minute, he just stared at her, drinking in her beauty. He thought she looked like a princess dressed up in a purple salwaar suit. He slowly went up to her, in a way that no one would notice anything suspicious. He landed up standing behind her, and whispered in her ears.

"Mrs Anant Bajpaayee, mujhe aapko aapki amanat deni hai." whispered Anant huskily in Navya's ears.

Navya's heart skipped a beat and hairs stood on end as she realised Anant was right behind her.

"Anant, sab dekh rahein hain, aur is samay Ravi bhaiiya aur Anjali ki shaadi ho rahi hai. Baad mein milte hain."

"Nahi Navya, tum mere saath abhi aa rahi ho, nahi toh main sabke saamne tumhein voh kangan pehnaaoonga." replied Anant rather stubbornly.

"Tum naa bahut badmaash ho gaye ho. Ab tum jaao, main tumhare peeche aati hoon!" replied Navya exasperatedly, as she shook her head at her fiance's stubbornness.

Anant made his way through the crowd, and walked off to a place where the crowd was relatively lesser. He saw Navya following him, and he went and waited for her behind a pillar. When Navya finally came, he pulled her towards him in a way that he was holding her waist, while her hands were splayed on his chest.

"Anant! Koi dekh lega, yeh kya kar rahe ho tum?" said Navya as she tried to free herself from Anant, but he was having none of that.

"Nahi Mrs Anant Bajpaayee! Jab tak main tumhe yeh kangan nahi pehnata, main tumhe toh nahi chodoonga!" replied Anant with a wink, as he took out the bangles from his pocket.

Anant let go of Navya, and held her hand close to his heart, as he put on the bangles. Navya stared at him with moist eyes, as he realised she was about to cry. He once again pulled her close and hugged her tightly.

"Kitna roti ho tum? Ab shhh! Main hoon naa? Sab theek hoga!" said Anant in a soothing tone.

Navya only responded with a sniffle, as she buried her face in his chest. Anant kissed her head and stroked her back, and they stayed like that for what seemed like eternity. Finally they both realised where they were standing and the risks involved in them being caught. They let go of each other rather unwillingly, and with a smile, Navya kissed Anant on his cheek and left from there. Anant just touched his cheek at the place where Navya had kissed him, and stared at her retreating figure in awe.

Navya went back to where she was standing, and Renu came up to her, and looked closely at her right hand, where Anant had put on the bangles.

"Toh yeh hai Bajpaayee khandaan ke pushtaini kangan? Bahut khoobsoorat hain! Aur tujhpe toh aur bhi zyaada acche dikh rahein hai!" said Renu sweetly.

Navya blushed and hugged her sister, while at the same time Meeta came up to them.

"Renu, Gudiya Ammajee ke saath hai, aur lagta hai uska diaper badalna hai. Tu jaake use sambhal le, theek hai? Navya, tu chal mere saath, thoda kaam hai. Bhabhi ne kaha ki shagun ki tokri mein kuch saamaan theek se nahi rakha hai." said Meeta, as she dragged Navya along with her.

Navya and Meeta went up to the place where they'd kept the shagun ki tokri, and they began to rearrange it, as Tayeejee had asked Meeta to do some last minute changes in them. As Navya was rearranging the fruits, Meeta noticed the new bangles on her hand, and questioned Navya regarding the same.

"Navya! Yeh kiske kangan hain? Kaafi mehenge lagte hain! Maine toh ise kabhi nahi dekha, tujhe yeh diya kisne?" asked Meeta, the suspicion evident in her voice.

Navya stared at the bangles and her mother in shock, as she didn't know what to reply to her. Meeta jumped on her momentary hesitation and asked the question that Navya dreaded the most.

"Anant yahaan hai kya? Sach sach bata Navya, yeh sab kya ho raha hai?" admonished Meeta.

Before Navya could say anthing, Renuka appeared and stared at Meeta with a rather confused expression on her face.

"Maa? Yeh Anant kaun hai? Yeh kangan toh maine Navi ko diye! Exams mein iska naam merit list mein aaya, toh maine socha ise kuch de doon! Kyun maa? Nahi dena chahiye tha?" asked Renuka rather innocently.

Meeta was a bit pacified with Renu's explanation, and she brushed the situation off. However, she couldn't forget the shocked look on Navya's face when she first asked her about the bangles and realised that something was fishy. She went off from there to get herself a drink, while leaving Navya and Renu to work and talk.

As Meeta went to get the drink, she bumped into someone and dropped her phone. The person who she bumped into just walked off, and Meeta was left screaming at his retreating back. She then bent to pick up the phone, but she realised someone had picked it up already. She smiled as she looked up to see who had picked her phone up, but seeing the person's face, the smile completely vanished from her face.

The person was none other than Anant Bajpaayee.
