Excellent point to ponder on!Its impossible to make sense of any character in this family, but i shall try to guess...logically!!
Sometimes, parents believe that their kids are not mature enuf to decide the best for them.
I think Om does not believe in Anant, whereas Babaji has some belief in him.
Remember, Babaji had the guts to forward Anant for the "pravachan". That was a big risk on the bajpai khaandaan's reputation...
But Daddy "hot hot" is still in doubts about how capable Anant is in making decisions.

This is the max I can think logically.
I understand that Logics dont work at Anant's place...but I am still trying to make sense of the weird dad!!!!Maybe I need to take a chill pill and go fishing...hahaha!!!!

Excellent logic used there, but as u said, Anant's family is pure illogic!
My mum and I were watching the whole last week episodes, and she was like "they holler on their sanskar and all, but they have the would-be-bride living there with them which is even not allowed in modern days, so its pure illogic"..I was like mum let me watch lol...she kept cracking jokes at their family haha..

But yeah Om doesnt have trust in either mohan or anant and he very welll knows both of them...he caught mohan straight away when he changed the topic inside baba's room...only if he loved them as much ther relationship would have been so much better 😭
