Sigh. I have no idea why I am even bothering to type this out. I am not a women-have-to-maintain-the-decorum fan but today, Navya reached out to me pretty well. That is sick of me, sure but the show's kind of helping me understand the queer and illogical restrictions my girl-friends are exposed to. So, way to go, writers, dun mess up the show please!
Navya was concerned about Sonia and she's brainy, so we'd not like to believe she had an idea, Sonia despised and treated her like a parasite or something. Anyhow, Navya behaved in a not-so-dignified manner, inquiring about her health in that hour of the night. Dignity is dignity, like a constant number - in any of its dimensions; it shall be the same then why is that two insults of different natures act on Navya's dignity differently?
Navya even confronted Sonia and believed it was her duty to conceal the truth regarding Sonia's disappearance. And tonight, when she was subjected to embarrassment right in the middle of the class - she burst into tears. All her friends, and Anant also whose sister happened to mess his CD thing and put him through that went out running for her.
Being concerned about somebody gets you their wrath and you're insulted but you do not mind whereas when something such as this happens wherein your new-found friend's sister burns his mischief on a CD and he mistakenly submits it as his project and you know he's a lad who's most likely never to do that to you, you run out of the class, with tears welded to your eyes and you are totally embarrassment-ridden.
I agree, the nature of both these insults is in contrast. But somehow, they highlight our society's double standards, or decently-speaking, how a female tends to be in our nation. Her dignity is several things to her. She'd compromise with it for the sake of compassion but she'd never let understanding or even truth come in her way to feel offended and shaken of what somebody, such as a male put her through. Exclusively a male, I should say. Her dignity is several things to her.
