according to wiki vasuki was the king of snakes but it does not seem so in Nagarjun😕

and accroding to wiki astika was a sage who was the son of a sage and serpent goddess manasa devi and astika saved takshak. Here he is shown as a ruthless and duty bound naag warrior who serves tashak and is unwaveringly loyal to him as if he is the one who owes his life to takshak instead of the other way round.
This shows naagvansh are definitely more inspired by the naags of mahabharat as opposed to being completely true to the original story of mahabharat. It seems instead of going true to the actual naag characters of the original story they tweaked them to make this show more interesting.
