Why do celebrities come in pairs?
MUMBAI: Remember Bhagyashree of 'Maine Pyar Kiya' fame? Once she tasted success, she decided to pass on her loyalty towards her husband Himalaya to her potential producers. She coyly put down one strange condition — she will do a film only if her husband plays a role opposite her.
Some hapless producers fell for the trick and we all know where Bhagyashree's career went from there. But looks like we made a Himalayan blunder by pooh-poohing Bhagyashree at that point of time. She was a pioneer of sorts, after all.
A PR calls in to say that two celebs are the chief guests for an event. Turns out it is Shweta Keswani (a little known TV actress) and Alex (when asked who's that, we are told in a hurried tone, that he is Shweta's boyfriend!) And this wakes us up to the fact that suddenly everything around us seems to be coming in package deals.
Who knew about the beefy Abhishek Awasthi before Rakhi Sawant declared her love for him? Now, wherever Rakhi goes, Abhishek comes close behind.
If a Hanif Hilal graduates from being a mere choreographer to Pooja Bedi's boyfriend, he automatically starts enjoying the celeb status that she does, simply because he is stuck to her wherever you spot her. Whatever little attention that Suchitra Pillai gets is happily shared by husband Lars. (His celeb status? He is Suchitra's husband!)
So in this 'take one, get one free' world, would it be any wonder if someone is inspired to do an 'Ambar-Dhara' sequel?
