Now read and review... Hope you'll like it...
As the full realisation and the consequences of his early demeanor's, finally sank in Dr Singh decided to confess his misdeeds. From out of the very depth of his being flowed all his remorse and as the groaning flow passed his lips, it became a cry of confession, a wail reaching out for redemption.
"I m sorry Vishu. He's.." Dr Singh tried to reach out his daughter.
"He's Neil Khanna. I know! I wanna know the part of story... That I don't know but you do. Or speaking more clearly... You planned and executed" Vishakha spoke almost robotically and sat down on the floor pressing her back against the bed like a audience ready to witness a play but without any expression.
Avni stood rooted at her place near the entrance. She was waiting impatiently for Dr Singh to reveal the truth himself. But finally when he's doing it, she wasn't feeling overjoyed or excited. How could see feel excited to see the painful demotion of Vishakha from a happy smiling girl to a lifeless body sitting in front of her. Avni had no words to comfort the poor soul...
"Neil and Ayna were returning to India. Ayan decided to stay at USA for one more month. We decided to surprise Neil and Vishakha by announcing their engagement. Ayan decided to settle back in India once Neil and Vishakha get married.
When I went to Mumbai Airport to receive them, we came to know that the flight has been hijacked by a terrorist group known as "Death Angels" lead by a international terrorist Mark. They demanded India Government to free their ten fellow terrorists and a safe escape to Iran from India. Indian Government wasn't ready to bow down. They tried to negotiate with the them because the terrorists whose release they demanded were too dangerous for India.
This stiff behavior of government made Mark mad in anger. To threaten the government, he decided to kill the passengers one by one. The first person they shot was... Neil Kapoor. Ayna was in trauma. She couldn't believe that her brother was shot dead in front of her eyes.
On seeing them killing people reklessly, the Indian Army and Mumbai Police carried out a collaborated Operation. Finally, by a 9 hour operation all the passengers were rescued. Ayna couldn't move due to shock. Neil Khanna was leading his team " Delta force". He saw Ayna and went to help her. As he approached her a terrorist Mark who was pretending to be dead pointed his gun at Ayna and asked Neil to drop his gun down. He shot his first bullet at Neil's heart which fortunately didn't hit his heart. Second at his stomach.
The two gunshots brought Ayna out of her trauma. As she saw Neil getting shot she stood in front of him and took rest four bullets on herself. They both fell on the floor. Mark escaped the place in the hustle bustle.
Using my contacts, and being a doctor I was allowed to enter the site. I found Neil and Ayna lying side by side in a pool of blood. Till then Vishakha reached there. There was a lack of doctors compared to the patients. The whole city was under emergency. On meeting Ayna for a last time, Vishakha decided to save Neil.
The operation was going on and Ayna was taking her last breath. Jusr then, I was informed that Neil Kapoor's body has been found with his passport. I thought there must be some misunderstanding. I went to check and got the biggest shock of my life. After getting confirmed that the person in operation theatre is Neil Khanna and Neil Kapoor is dead, I wanted to inform Vishkha. But till then, Ayna passed away.
Neil and Ayna were dead. I was feeling like my world has shattered. I didn't wanted to loose Vishakha.
We lost our everything to save Neil Khanna, So I decided to make Neil live the life of Neil Kapoor.
As soon as surgery finished, I sent Vishakha away. I did last rites of the two child whom I always considered my own.
I got the sample of Neil Khanna's DNA submitted in the list of dead peoples. But his team wasn't ready to believe that he's dead without his dead body.
Neil gained consciousness after three days. I got him airlifted to Dehradun. As he opened his eyes he asked me to call his wife and family.
I injected him with drugs which pushed him in a state of half consciousness. Within a regular dose of month and high psychiatric technics my team of psychologists succeded in erasing his memory.
In next three months, we brainwashed him in his semi conscious state. Neil Kapoor was fond of writing his daily diary. We narrated him the diary in a tone which was violent to his ears so that could get imprinted on his mind. Through the videos made by Ayna we made him recognize each and every person.
We played the videos repeatedly without letting him sleep so as to make his mind believe that all that happened with him only. The videos did their job. Neil slowly accepted himself as Neil Kapoor. He identified the persons from Video and his mind picturerised the things narrated to him through Neil's diary.
When we finally allowed him to gain control over his body and come out from the influence of drugs, he was Neil Kapoor in every sense. He recognized me, remembered his mom and dad and asked about Ayna.
I was almost successful in making him Neil Kapoor. But sometimes, he didn't recognized persons and blacked out while recalling past things. So I told him that he's having a partial amnesia.
The memories he gained through Neil's diary never raised any doubts in anyone's mind about his identity and were wide enough to make himself believe them.
But my all hard work went up in vain. The person for whom I transformed him to a completely different man, he didn't remember her. He didn't remembered that he loved Vishakha. He always thought Vishakha to be his friend because anything about their love relationship wasn't mentioned in Neil's diary. So I kept Vishakha away from him and didn't let her talk to him.
When he met you, he started behaving like Neil Khanna. It made me furious but I couldn't do anything.
When he was again shot and Vishakha treated him, I feared that she might recognize him. But much to my relief she didn't.
I knew that Neil will never come back leaving you. But I knew Vishakha too. She'll never force him to do anything against his will. I was happy that she'll be fine, although heartbroken but she'll be alive... She'll be alive at least..." Dr Singh kneeled down in front of Avni and cried hysterically.
Avni was disheartened to learn about the physical and mental tortures Neil went through in four months. She had no grudges against Dr Singh as he was the reason that Neil is alive with her.
Vishakha already knew this but seeing his father confessing everything she broke a little more... During these days several times she hallucinated her father saying that her Neil is also alive. But today onwards she had no right even to hallucinate him being well.
Vishakha was sobbing silently making as less noise as possible. It was the kind of sobbing that comes from a person drained of all hopes and optimism. She pressed her palms on her face and the tears were dropping through her fingers.
Suddenly, they heard a smash of a vase breaking into thousand pieces. Avni saw Neil standing at the entrance who was witnessing Dr Singh's confession from last half an hour.
The harsh winds blowed into the room. As he entered the room he could just listen Vishakha sobbing in an otherwise silent room.
"Neil..." Avni tried to explain.
His upper eyelids pulled in a stare and he looked at Avni. Their gaze intertwined like they always used too, but his eyes were not the same charming eyes which always displayed love. Today they were having something Avni couldn't understand. Fires of fury were smouldering in his narrow eyes.
Their was an anger, he didn't even tried to mask.
He raised his palm in her direction.
"Not a word Mrs Avni Neil Khanna" he roared.
She backed away in fright. She tried to gulp down but her mouth was devoid of saliva, absolutely dry. Nothing about his fear was making sense, neither his curling fists nor the anger that was radiating in the form of heat.
Neil walked straight to Vishakha ignoring Dr Singh as if he don't exist.
A wave of fright passed over him seeing the blood and pathetic condition of his chubby.
"You Ok" was all he managed to say stooping down to reach her. He took her bandaged hand into his and other hand cupping her face.
"Chubby.." he said.
As Vishakha heard this word she hugged him tightly and her silent cries turned into howlings.
After some minutes, she parted from him. She looked like a picture of grief, loss and devastation.
"Don't do this. I know you want me to be happy. But Avni doesn't love me. She just want her husband Neil Khanna back. She's just using you and Uncle Singh in this drama to make me Neil khanna" he sounded betrayed and heartbroken.
His words hurt Avni like a thousand pin pricking her heart. Her face was paler than she ever recalled it being like that, as if all five litre blood from her body has been drained out. Her almost ghostly lips were quivering.
"This is not a game and I m not a toy. I m Neil Kapoor..." he said trying to prevent his fingers from curling.
The already bleeding beart of Vishakha shattered into pieces and the pieces were being attacked by her guilt. She was guilty that because of her, her father tortured this man for four months and separated from his family.
"You think you're Neil Kapoor... Then identify me. Tell me Neil who I am?" she said trying to get up.
Neil was taken aback by her sudden outburst.
"Friends??? That's what you think of me?" she enquired.
She walks towards her cupboard and takes out some pictures.
"Is it just friendship?" she tossed the pictures in the air.
Neil glanced at the pictures lying on the floor. In those pictures Neil and Vishakha were close as couples. Neil was shocked as he never felt for Vishakha that way.
"If you're Neil Kapoor then how dare you love Avni, when you made love promises to me?" she shouted flashing the pictures in front of his eyes.
"Chubby it could be due to amnesia!" he tried to reason out but he himself didn't seemed to be convinced.
"Amnesia.. Really?" she let out a dramatic sigh.
"Amnesia affect mind not heart Neil. If you were my Neil you wouldn't have fell for someone else.
You think you're Neil Kapoor? Then within few days... You started loving her so much that you were ready to die for her?
Staying away from your love under same roof was damn painful... Even then you never tried to get away from her?
The family with whom you have no relation... You were ready to live rest of your life as their son... Leaving your own identity?
Shweta aunty, Prakash uncle and Bebe... They loved their Neil so much... Then why didn't they felt the difference between you and their son?
Why the hell you bear each and every pain for a girl who belong to someone else... Who'll never love you?" Vishakha overexherted her lungs. Each and every question was well pronounced and Neil had no answers.
With each question reality of him being Neil Khanna hit him hard but he was still in denial.
Avni kept her eyes steady, resting on his face like he was home. She was waiting for him to accept his real identity just once. Then every thing will set right. Together they'll make order out of disorder.
Vishakha was loosing her patience seeing his stubbornness.
"Ok. You are my Neil. Avni was a mistake right. Then let's fix the mistake" Vishakha held his hands into her.
"I'll forget everything. Your betrayal, your love for Avni. I'll forgive everything. Marry me right now" she yelled with all her might.
"You know I can't do that" Neil stated.
"Why? Why? Tell me why?" she held his collars and yelled strongly.
Neil didn't had answer. What he'll tell that he belongs to Avni. But what relation they have if he's not Neil Khanna?
"I'll tell you because you love Avni... She's important for you more than your life because she's your wife. It's not Neil Kapoor's few days love... It's the promise which Neil Khanna made with her wife for seven births." she said cupping his face.
"Just look at me... All I am is sadness, every other emotion has been pushed out of my being. Where there was love , the light, the laughter is an aching hollowness. I don't want the same for you. Please Neil...
I know way back won't be easy... Specially when you don't have memories... But life has given you another chance.. Don't waste it." she let go of his shirt and moved back.
Neil anger knew no bound as the realization of reality sunk in. It was too much for him to handle. He was well aware that the pressure of this raging sea of anger would result in hurting people, and he didn't wanted to hurt anyone, specially Avni. He knew he has to get out of everyone's way before the hot lava crept out in his furious state.
He tuned back, but didn't spared a glance to a teary Avni, face set like an adversary, fireballs in his sparky eyes, tense muscles and clenched jaw.
She knew that face. It was the face he wears when his ears are close and his mind has put up barriers to all new information. So no matter what she say, it'll only push him further.
As he headed to leave Avni stood in his way.
"Neil please..." she tried to hold him. He pushed Avni aside and stormed out.
Avni immediately rushed behind him sparing a glance at Vishakha who gestured her to go.
As Avni came out she saw Neil's Mercedes disappearing in the air. She immediately followed him in another car.
Neil was hyperspeeding on a secluded road in the hills of Dehradun.
He recalled the first day Avni's words affected him like a stranger's words shouldn't have.
He fell in love with her at the first sight.
That day when Bebe was ill he felt like someone very dear to him was ailing.
The affection he felt for Khannas.
Everything in Khanna mention appearing to be a repeat telecast.
Identifying Mark, those guns, able to jump from second floor being a civilian, the matching of fingerprints in police identification, Oscar smelling him and matching of Kareena's HLA 6/6.
Every damn thing was making sense now.
He pressed a the accelerator and increased the speed. The speed was relieving his blasting mind.
Avni was following him. She could feel the danger. Horror washed over her like the long slow waves in a shallow beach as she saw his car going zig zag on the hill roads.
"Neil!!! Neil!! Please stop.. Neil!!!" her screams were lost beneath the thunder that rolled overhead. The sky was so low, that she felt like she's driving through the clouds.
"Neil!!! Neil!!" she called out again her voice clipped by another boom of thunder which was violent to ears.
The weather was chilly, like trying to extinguish the fire inside Neil.
Avni was behind Neil. Her several honkings of horn and shouting failed to reach him.
She changed the gear and pushed the engine to the limit by pressing the accelerator in one go.
As she came side by side to Neil's car he noticed Avni hyperspeeding her car beside him.
"Are you mad!!! Slow down your car" he shouted at Avni.
She was relieved that he finally saw her. But the respite was short lived as another shock was awaiting her.
The green colour of forest around her swirled around her and clouded her vision. She let out a scream as she realised that the breaks aren't working. Fear controlled her like nothing else.
"The brakes aren't working" she informed him. Both the cars were hyperspeeding towatds the cliff.
"Decrease acceleration... Try to apply hand brake... Don't panic" he immediately threw instructions.
"Nothing is working Neil!"shivers ran down her spine. She wished she had an escape button to end this racing game.
The anger inside Neil flew away as he saw Avni in danger. He knew if he didn't do anything Avni's car will fall from cliff within seconds.
He increased his speed and bumped his car into Avni's car at such an angle that both the cars stopped moving in any direction. Both the cars were spinning like the two blades of phigdet spinner attached with each other.
Time seemed to slow down. Both of them were looking each other. The world around melt away. Avni stopped blinking or screaming for help.
As the revolving speed of cars decreased, Avni's car skidded on the slanting hill. Adrenaline rushed through Neil's Veins as he saw her falling back with her car.
Avni admired his face as her wish of having him in front of her eyes when she'll die was seeming to get fulfilled.
He kicked the door and jumped out of his car grabbing her hand at the exact time. The car fell down the hill and a violent boom is heard.
Avni looked up at Neil who was holding her hand while she was hanging between death and life.
"You'll be Ok" his breathing came in small spurts, hot and nervous.
"I know" she nodded.
She had no strength left to climb up. So he pulled her up with all his strength. He could feel his pulse pounding in his temples.
Even in daylight, the sky blackened. The lightening cut crazy zig zag forks in the black sky. As Neil tried to pull Avni up, the intensity and frequency of flashes for silver fork in the sky followed by a violent boom increased.
The unleashed winds screamed more than howls.
He finally pulled her up. But being exhausted he lied back on green grass with Avni lying on top of him.
They were breathing heavily and heart was jack hammering against each other.
Neil curled his arms around her to make himself believe that she's fine.
The icy grey sky restlessly grumbled. The clouds reached their saturation point, unable to withstand the burden of weight, soon gave in. The rain poured down soaking them.
Finally, Avni got up first followed by Neil.
"You can be so stupid sometimes!" he said pulling his eyebrows down together.
"Why were you driving so fast... You have no idea what could have happened?" he let out a dramatic sigh shaking his head.
Both of them were still panting.
"I would have died" Avni said as a matter of fact.
Neil pulled her close to him and hugged her close to his chest. He couldn't even imagine what he would have done if she...
He presssed his lips on her forehead. The dancing rain drops witnessed their first cutest kiss.
Neil rested his lips on her smooth skin but forgot to back off. Both of them stayed in same position for a long time.
Although his lips were on her forehead she could feel it all over her body. His touch made her feel complete. Though he's fire but Avni feels safe in his embrace.
