Chapter 63

“Maa ko lagta hai ki mere rang ki wajah se meri shaadi nahi ho rahi.” Meera told Tapish.

“Tumhari maa hi galat ladko ko dekh rahi tumhare liye. Abh chocolate ice cream toh wahi khaega jise chocolate pasand ho. Vanilla lover ko chocolate doge toh uski khaasiyat kaise samjhega?” Tapish corrected. Meera smiled. “It takes a chocolate boy to like chocolates.”

“Smooth, Tapish bhai, real smooth…” Sam commented.

“Oh God!!!” Vanshika grabbed Sam’s arm really hard in excitement. She had to hold on to something from almost jumping out.

“Ow…” Sam winced at how hard she grabbed his arm.

“Tapish bhai sach mein tezz nikle.” Veer added with a grin.

“That’s sweet.” Meera answered with a smile. She was a little oblivious to the fact that Tapish just flirted with her. Vanshika groaned and put her head on the table.

“Meera di… Kya hoga aapka? Banda aur kitna clear flirt kare?” Vanshika complained holding her hair.

“Meera toh Bani se bhi zyaada bholi nikli.” Veer commented.

Tapish thought on the same lines as Vanshika. He put the bottle of wine on their table.

“Nahi. Main actually nahi peeti. I don’t like wine.” Meera said.

“How come you don’t like wine? You eat plum cake but don't drink wine?”

“I don’t eat the plum cake that has wine.”

Tapish rubbed his forehead.

“Meera, toh plum cake khaya kyu? Seriously? Its like wanting to eat a chocolate chip cookie but eating the one which has raisins in it.”

“Arrey, sabhki apni pasand hoti hai.”

“Haan. Yeh toh wahi baat hai ki biriyani kaahogi par usmein chicken nahi hona chahiye. Toh kha kyu rahi ho biriyani?”

“Dekho, tum phir se shuru ho gaye.”

“Acha, tumne wine kabhi taste bhi ki hai?”

“Nahi.”

“Toh kaise pata ki tumhe pasand hai bhi ya nahi?”

“Kyuki mere ghar pe koi sharab nahi peeta.”

“Toh mere ghar hi aa jaao.”

“Haan toh main waise bhi aati hi rehti hun Bani se milne. But I still don't want drink wine. ”

This time Veer pinched the bridge of his nose.

“Meera… Tapish bhai isse zyaada clear flirt karne lage toh it would be past flirting and be more of a proposal.” Veer complained.

“Kaise behen hai aapki, Bhabhi? Itne clear signs bhi unhe nahi samajh aa rahe.” Sam complained to Bani on the phone.

“Meri Meera di ko kuch mat kaho. Bechari bholi hai. Unka koi boyfriend nahi raha hai aur na hi kisi ladke ke saath woh kabhi dost rahi hai. Unke bohot saare dost nahi the.” Bani defended her sister.

“Vanshika, Sam, hum dono ko hi kuch karna padega. Tapish bhai toh puri try kar rahe hai but yeh Meera… duffer ko samajh hi nahi aa raha.” Veer decided.

“Oh, hello. Woh meri behen hai. Unhe duffer mat bolo.” Bani complained.

“Main duffer nahi bolun toh aur kya bolun?” Veer asked.

“Acha. Fine. Main hi pi leta hai.” Tapish sighed. They started eating their food. Meera had known Tapish enough to understand the basic way he worked. He was someone who worked in a structured way. Nothing chaotic. He had a plan of action. A routine that he follows. Not an OCD level but a bit more than regular people. For example his suits. He wouldn't own a tie of the same shade again. Tapish Singhania wouldn't be caught dead in a messy attire. He always looked he's straight out of the shower. Fresh and groomed. Not even a hair out of place. Meera did like that he wasn't the unpredictable kind. You don't have to worry about Tapish flipping out. He's generally calm never breaking into fits of worry.

“Ek baat batao. Tum cheel ho. So, generally eagles have sharp eye sight toh tumhe chasma kyu hai? I mean isn’t the side of you supposed to give you a better eye sight?” Meera asked Tapish.

“I used to read books at night. Daksh aur meri aadat thi der raat tak baith ke books padne ki. Kam light mein books padne baithenge toh chasma lagega hi. When we’re in human form, we’re also having human eyes. Jab cheel ki shaktiya use karta hun toh bina chasme ke acche se dikhta hai.”

“But its kind of odd.”

“You’re calling me odd? Your sister turned out to be a naagin and that’s not surprising to you much. Par yeh bohot surprising hai ki mujhe chasma hai. Interesting.”

Meera laughed.

“Sach kahun toh mujhe kaafi shock laga. But Bani khud hi itni pareshaan thi ki main agar react karti toh pata nahi Bani kya karti. Toh I pretended that I was okay for a while. Phir kuch dino mein aadat ho gayi. Naagin toh maine phir bhi suna tha par icchadhari cheel hote hai yeh kabhi pata hi nahi tha. I was surprised when Bani told me about it. Bani ko theek se samjhane ka time hi nahi mila. Jiss din use yaad aaya, uss din tumhara bhai aa gaya humare ghar.”

“Haan. Toh jaan lo. Ek toh tumhare saamne hi baitha hai.”

“Mujhe yeh pata hi ki tum sabh shamshaan mein reh sakte ho, udd sakte ho aur insaano se zyaada strong ho. Isse zyaada kya hai?”

“That is quite offensive.”

“Right, cheel apne kitchen ko leke kaafi possessive bhi hote hai. Yeh bhul gayi. Sorry.” Meera laughed.

“Of course, I’m possessive about my kitchen. Jo haal tumne kitchen ka kiya tha uske baad tum abhi yahan mere saamne baithi ho, that’s a big deal. Consider yourself lucky.”

“Tapish, uss baat ko bohot time ho gaya hai. Ek mahina ho gaya.”

“Aur tumhe jawani mein aaye 15 saal hue hai. Phir bhi samajh nahi aata ki koi flirt kar raha hai tumhare saath.” Tapish muttered under his breath but the trio heard it.

Vanshika choked on the water she was drinking. She coughed. Sam and Veer put a hand on their mouth to keep themselves from laughing out.

“Kuch kaha?”

“Nahi…”

“Ice cream khate hai. Chalo…”

“Acha toh order kar lete hai…”

“Nahi, Tapish… yahan nahi.”

“Toh kahan khani hai? Baskins and Robins?”

“Nahi….” Meera turned to the waiter and asked for the bill. He brought their bill and Meera was about to offer her card.

“Meera, tumhe dene ki zaroorat nahi hai. Dinner ka plan mera tha so its my treat.”

“Haan, par khaya toh hum dono ne hai. Tum chaho toh apne drinks ke alag se de dena.”

Meer was about to offer her the card but the waiter took Tapish’s card.

“Yeh kya baat hai?” Meera asked the waiter.

“Its okay. Tum jaao.” Tapish assured the waiter.

“Yeh galat hai. Main de rahi thi na…”

“Meera, main yahan bohot baar aa chuka hun. Restaurant ka owner bhi mujhe jaanta hai. So, they’ll take my card.”

Meera just sighed. The waiter returned with Tapish’s card. The two walked out. Sam, Vanshika and Veer followed them. Meera got Tapish to stop before a stall.

“Tum seriously yahan se ice cream khana chahti ho?” Tapish asked, his eyebrows squeezed in disgust.

“Tapish, kulfi kya tumhe Taj Hotel mein khana hai phir?” Meera asked.

“Damn it, Meera. Way to go. Tapish bhai kabhi aise sadak pe se nahi khaate. Especially not from somewhere like this.” Sam exclaimed. Veer almost wanted to laugh. Tapish rarely engaged himself in street food. The only street food he’d be willing to eat is chaat. Pav bhaaji, Pani puri, Bhel puri kind of stuff. Never would Tapish eat ice cream or kufli from a stall like this.

“Guys, we’ve got to fix this. Their first date can’t go wrong.” Vanshika told them.

“V, relax hum kuch karte hai.”

“Guys, kuch bhi mat karo. Just stay out. Let Meera di handle this.” Bani told them.

“Sweetheart, Tapish bhai next moment bhaag jaayenge.” Veer commented.

“Kufli se yaad aaya mujhe bhi kulfi khaani hai.” Bani said.

“Kufli is your flavour?” Veer teased her.

“Excuse me…” Vanshika raised an eyebrow.

“Thanks. Matlab kisi ke saamne yeh baat kehna hota hai?” Bani scolded him but Veer knew she was blushing.

“Nahi… nahi… uske liye nahi bol rahi thi. We all know that Bani’s flavour is strawberry and chocolate.” Vanshika explained. The boys broke into a laughing fit.

“Vanshika…” Bani exclaimed.

“Its okay. Meera di ne bataya.” Vanshika teased.

“Well, jo bhi hai. Atleast mere kameene bhaiyo ki tarah beech mein nahi aayi. Thankful for that.” Veer added.

Meera and Tapish were sitting at the familiar couple spot at Marine Drive. Meera was trying to get Tapish to try kulfi.

“Try toh karo…” Meera urged him. The three-piece suited and Audi driving Tapish fell a little out of place among the general teenage couple sitting at the place.

“How can you eat that? Tumhe pata bhi nahi ki yeh theek se bana hai ya nahi. Aise hi sadak ke ice cream seller se kha rahi ho…” Tapish asked.

“Tapish, har insaan Armaani suit aur Guerlain perfume nahi use karta. Some of us are normal and its not going to kill you. Tum taste karke dekho phir kehna ki tumhe nahi khana.” Meera insisted.

To their shock, Tapish took the blow and tasted the kulfi.

“Sweetheart, Sam, I think that’s it. Hume Tapish bhai ki Dulhan mil chuki hai.” Veer declared.

“Kyuki Tapish bhai ne aaj tak apni girlfriend ke liye aise sadak ki kulfi nahi khaayi hai.” Vanshika added.

“The only problem is that I don’t know if Meera kuch samajh bhi rahi hai.” Sam added.

“Meri baat suno. Hume sirf itna karna hai ki Meera di ko Tapish bhai ke aas paas rakhna hai. Jahan she comes across him a lot.” Bani suggested. Sam froze. Vanshika and Veer noticed it quickly.

“Veer bhai, maine Meera ko bhaagte hue dekha. Uske peeche dhabewala tha.” Sam explained, worry on his face.

“Veer, Sam, Vanshika, main abhi ghar jaa rahi hun. Tum teeno Meera di aur Tapish bhai ke peeche hi raho.” Bani told them.

After a spending a while at Marine Drive, Meera and Tapish decided to return.

Tapish opened the car door for her. Meera smiled and sat. The three changed into their form. Sam grabbed Vanshika in his talons. The cheels flew up right on the car’s trail. Veer kept an eye for any sight of the Adi-Naag. The greatest gift of nature to all the eagles are their sight. The keen sight. They can a spot a snake from 5000 feet above in the air. Especially if it is Adi-Naag and the eagle above is Cheel Singhania.

Tapish stopped a little ahead of Sharma Residence. Bani was already there by the time they reached. Chachi and Bani came out, spotting Meera and Tapish.

“Bani?” The two asked together in surprise.

“Abh main kya batau? Yeh ladki samajhti hi nahi hai. Bas iska jhagda ho gaya damad ji ke saath toh chali aayi yahan. Aap bilkul tension mat lijiye. Bani aa hi rahi hai aapke saath. Main samjha dungi isse.” Chachi explained. She almost didn’t realize that Meera and Tapish were on a date. The two thanked heavens for that or else it was going to be a huge issue.

“Haan. Main woh Bani ko lene hi aaya tha…” Tapish nodded with the excuse.

“Aaiye na andar. Damad ji nahi aaye?” She asked.

“Bani…” Veer, Sam and Vanshika were quickly to follow.

“Nahi, Veeranshu. Agar tumhe lagta hai ki tum aise mujhe behla sakte ho toh nahi. Not happening.” Bani said.

“Ek minute, guys. Sadak pe na lade toh hi accha hoga. Ritu aunty, aapko problem nahi hai na agar hum sabh andar chale toh?” Sam suggested.

“Arrey, aaiye na…” Ritu said with a smile. The Singhanias and Vanshika walked into Sharma residence. Bani, Meera, Vanshika and Sam went inside. Veer pulled him outside.

“Veer, ho kya raha? Abh phir se jhagda kiya kya tum dono ne?” Tapish asked.

“Nahi, Tapish bhai. Sam ne dekha ki Meera ke peeche woh dhabewala naag hai. Isiliye Bani yahan aayi hai. Bina wajah yahan ruk nahi sakti kyuki phir hazaar sawaal karenge. Bani ka dimag nahi chal raha itna ki yeh kahe ki use apne gharwalo ki yaad aa rahi thi. Toh shayad bol diya ki jhagda hua isiliye yahan aa gayi.” Veer explained.

“Meera ke peeche?”

“I mean, Bani ki kamzori hai Meera. Main toh phir bhi us dhabewale ko dhul chata sakta hun. Meera kuch nahi kar paayegi. Isiliye I think hume yahin rukna chahiye kuch waqt ke liye. Aapko toh pata hai ki Sam ke visions galat nahi hote. Usne meri shaktiya jaate hue dekha. Mujhe bachte hue dekha. Sabh sach hua hai. Toh agar hum Meera kea as paas rahe toh phir bhi bacha paayenge.”

“Theek hai. Main dad ko bata deta hun ki hum teeno yahi hai.”

Veer and Tapish entered the house.

“Yeh humara chota sag har hai. Bohot khaas toh nahi hai aapke bade se bungle ki tarah nahi hai. Sharma ji ki salary se yahi ghar bana paaye hum.” Chachi said.

“Nahi… its okay.” Tapish assured.

“Main toh bilkul wapas nahi jaa rahi, papa. Aap kehdo ki agar Veeranshu ko jaana hai toh chala jaaye. Waise bhi yahan rukne iske bas ki baat nahi hai.” Bani emerged from the room making it clear.

“Arrey, pagal hai kya? Pati ke saath nahi jaayegi toh kahan jaayegi? Shaadi ke baad patni ka staan apne pati ke saath hi hota hai.” Chachi told her.

“Chachi, main bilkul nahi jaa rahi. Yeh dhokebaaz hai.” Bani accused.

“Oh hello. Dekh ke ilzaam lagao, gharwali. Main dhokebaaz?” Veer took severe offense at that.

“Aur nahi toh kya?” Bani exclaimed.

“Acha, theek hai, Bani. Yeh toh bata ki kiya kya damad ji ne? Kahin inka kisi aur ladki ke saath..” Mr Sharma asked.

“Oo? Kya kuch bhi? Mera kisi aur ke saath affair nahi hai. Abh main hot hunt oh ladkiya mere saath flirt karti hai. Main kya karun?” Veer defended his own character. Tapish smiled.

“Uncle, aap galat samajh rahe hai. Veer badtameez hai. Kaafi out of control hai. Muhfat hai aur humesha hi apni mann ki karta hai par Bani ko chodke kisi pe dil nahi aa sakta hai.” Tapish defended Veer. “Bani ko kuch galat fehmi hui hogi.”

“Nahi, papa. Baat woh nahi hai. Isne na mujhe bohot rulaya hai. Main bata nahi sakti main kitna royi hun. Shuru se leke kal subeh tak.” Bani complained. “Aur abh, abh toh ise lagta hai I can't even join in with his plans.”

“What?” Veer asked. Totally out of the script. He raised an eyebrow at her.

“Dekhiye ise, papa. Itna raub jamaata hai mujhpar. Matlab humesha saari cheezein iske hisaab se chale?” Bani complained. “Pehle, mujhpe ilzaam lagaya ki mera aur Jay ka affair hai. Phir mujhse due chala gaya. Uske baad wapas aaya bhi toh apna bhes badal ke. Uss sabhse chain nahi mila toh mujhe ignore bhi karne laga kyuki uska mood kharab tha. Chalo theek hai yeh sabh toh phir bhi seh liya maine. Abhi kuch din pehle marne ka natak bhi kiya. Papa, abh toh bohot ho gaya. Mujhe nahi rehna iske saath.”

Veer was quick to grab Bani by her arm and push her against a wall.

“Phir se kehke dikha do, Mrs Singhania, ki tum mere saath nahi rahogi phir dekho main kya karta hun.”

“Baath ko samjho. Please…” Bani whispered.

“I don’t give a damn, gharwali. Mazak mein ho ya serious mein. You don’t dare say that again.” Bani looked at him and saw that Aakesh like possessiveness. Bani escaped the cage and stood behind her dad.

“Yahi… yahi bata rahi thi main.” Bani complained.

“Toh kya baat ho gayi? Pati hai tera?” Chachi defended Veer.

“Aapki aur meri soch match karti hai.” Veer gave her a fist and taught her how to fist bump. Veer sat on the sofa with his foot on the opposite angle. His arm resting on the edge of the sofa. “Abh tum decide karo, Bani. Ya toh tum seedhe ghar chalo ya hum yahan ruk sakte hai.”

Bani looked at him confused. He was supposed to leave. She was going to stay here with Meera for her safety.

“Waise ek baat toh hai. Damad ji ki personality hi raja wali hai toh thoda bohot raub jamana suit karta hai.” Chachi buttered Veer. Veer put a hand on his chest.

“Kya baat hai, sasumaa. Yeh sunke kaafi accha laga” Veer grinned. Chachi went inside to get tea for them.

“Bhabhi, itna toh obvious hai ki hum toh aapko leke hi jaayenge.” Sam said.

“Pagal ho kya? Yahan itni jagah nahi hai sabke rehne ke liye.” Bani commented.

“Sweetheart, tum aur main bathtub mein bhi so sakte hai…” Veer pointed out. Bani whipped her head faster than a cobra strike at that commentary.

“Excuse me….” Bani whispered. “Can you shut up?”

“Hain? Bani bathtub mein so gayi thi? Kuch bhi karti hai.” Chachi laughed.

“Haan. Woh hua yeh tha ki Bani -” Bani put a hand on his mouth.

“Paani garam tha aur main bohot thaki hui thi toh aankh lag gayi aur pata hi nahi chala.” Bani explained.

“Par Bani ki baat bhi sahi hai, damad ji. Yahan kitni hi jagah hai sone ke liye.” Mr Sharma agreed with Bani. “Abh Bani toh bohot din baad yahan aayi hai. Toh hum soch rahe the ki thoda humare saath rahegi toh accha lagega.”

“Uncle, aap tension kyu le rahe ho? Main hun na. Hum sabh adjust kar lenge.”

“Main aur Bani ek saath so jaayenge.” Meera agreed.

“Seriously?” Sam asked.

“Dekho. Bhabhi ko le jaana hai toh thodi se mehnat toh karni padegi. Abh itni asaani se agar tumhare saath aa gayi toh phir se Veer ko lagega ki this just too easy. Thodi mehnat karne do.” Vanshika suggested.

“Waise tum bohot hi pyaari ho. Maine suna hai tum Lawyer ho.” Mr Sharma asked Vanshika sitting on the sofa.

“Meri speciality Corporate Law mein hai but I’ve got other law area expertise as well.” Vanshika answered.

“Dekho. Seekho kuch Vanshika se. Tum dono humesha hi ghoomte rehte ho.” Mr Sharma told Mehek-Dehek.

“Vanshika bhi party karti hai.”

“Waise tum damad ji ko unke naam se bulati ho. Unhe jeeju bolna chahiye na?” Chachi tried to chide her. Vanshika chuckled.

“Aunty, main Veer ko bohot pehle se jaanti hun. Ek hi school mein jaate the toh tabse hum dono dost hai. Aadat si hai use Veer bulane ki. Last time maine Veer ko bhaiya bola tha toh main 2nd standard mein thi aur yeh 4th mein. Seedha school ke swimming pool mein hi dhakka maar diya. Tabhse aadat hai use Veer bulane ki.” Vanshika explained.

“Tum sach mein inn sabke saath school gayi thi? Tabh toh tum bhi ameer hogi na…” Dehek commented. Meera hit Dehek.

“Kya puch rahi hai?” Meera scolded her.

“Uski maa toh surgeon hai. Of course, ameer hai.” Chachi added. Bani rubbed her forehead. Vanshika laughed.

Chapter 64

Everyone had gone to sleep. Mehek Dehek and Vanshika were sleeping on the bed. Tapish slept on Meera’s bed next to the window while Bani and Meera slept on the floor. Sam slept on one couch and Veer slept on the sofa. It was a bit uncomfortable compared to his spacious and comfy bed in their room but he was trying to sleep.

Bani came out to check on him. He was sleeping. She put the blanket over him properly. He looked adorable. She sat on the coffee table and look at him for a moment. A smile on her face as she stared at him.

He turned around and was about to fall but Bani held him against, stopping him from falling. That woke him up. “Bani?” A sleepy grin on his face.

“Bas dekhne aayi thi theek so paa rahe ho yaa nahi.”

“Tum saath nahi ho to acchi neend kaise aa sakti hai? But kaam chala rahe hai.” He pulled her closer to him.

“Meera….” Sam woke up with a scream. Veer and I shot off towards him. He was quick on his feet. Without waiting for us, Sam dashed into the room.

“Shit… Shit….” Sam exclaimed. Both Meera and Tapish were missing.

“Sam?” Veer asked.

“Dhabewale ne koi jaadu kiya hai jisse dono Tapish bhai aur Meera uske peeche chale gaye hai. Maine dekha Meera ko bhagte hue. Uske peeche dhabewala tha.” Sam dashed off.

“Bani? Kya ho raha hai?” Chachi asked.

Bani woke up Vanshika.

“Vanshika, Meera di ko dhundhna hai. Abhi chal jaldi.” Bani told.

“What the hell?? But yeh hua kaise?” Vanshika got off the bed.

“Arrey, sabh Meera ko kyu dhundh rahe hai?” Chachi asked.

“Chachi, aap sabh yahi rahiye kahin mat jaana. Hum Meera di ko le aate hai wapas.” Bani told her. Behind them, Sam, Vanshika and Veer follow. Vanshika and Bani turned into their snake form. They tried to feel if they could feel vibrations of any running footsteps. Sam and Veer turned into their eagle form and flew up high in the air, scanning the perimeter for Meera or Jay.

Vanshika spotted Tapish. He was knocked out. His head bleeding from the injury of crashing his head against the stone.

“Tapish bhai…” Vanshika got to him. Bani looked up and saw Veer and Sam already looking fro Meera. She went to Tapish and healed him. She shook him awake.

“Tapish bhai…” Slowly, Tapish woke up.

“Bani… Meera… Jay ne koi mayavi ras istemaal kiya tha hume control karne. Ek point ke baad main toh nikal paaya but Meera uske control mein thi. Maine koshish ki use rokne ki but phir Jay ne mujhe zor se dhakka maara aur….” Tapish got up. The three started looking Meera.

They heard the eagle call. Seems like they spotted Meera or Jay. The trio quickly reached the place.

“Aage mat badhna….” Jay threatened with a knife to Meera’s throat.

“Jay, main warn kar rahi hun. Meera di ko chodo.” Bani hissed angrily. Her fists clenched.

“Main bhi cheta raha hun, Bani. Peeche hato…” Jay threatened. “Mere saath hosiyaari mat karo. Apne cheel pati ko kaho ki izzat se neeche aa jaaye.”

Veer flew down and returned to his human form.

“Dhabewale, aaj toh teri jahannum ki ticket confirm hai. Tune mujhe maarne ki koshish ki aur abh Meera…”

Veer walked back and sat on a stone. Sitting in the typical Aakesh fashion.

“Veer?” Tapish asked.

“Tapish bhai, relax. Yeh action sequence. Beech mein mat jaao. Waise toh aap Knight in Shining Armour ban sakte ho but lagta hai ki aapki halat tight already hai.”

“Tera number aayega, Cheel Singhania. Ruk jaa.”

Veer rolled his eyes.

“Kitni baar tu fail ho gaya hai, Dhabewale. Isiliye tumhe koi khaas shakti nahi di. Dimaag hi nahi hai tujhmein. Tere bas ki baat nahi hai mujhe maarna. But agar Meera ko kharoch bhi aayi toh tera kya haal hoga sochle. Waise toh Tapish bhai khud kaafi peaceful hai but I doubt Tapish bhai bhi tujhe pe taras khaenge. Ek ke baad ek tujhe noch noch ke khaaenge.”

Sam swooped down faster than a bullet and knocked down Jay, Meera and the knife in Jay’s hands. Vanshika was quick to turn into a snake form and coiled up over Meera to defend her. Hissing violently. Bani wasn’t someone to waste time. She grabbed Jay’s throat.

“Bohot bhaag liya, Jay. Abh bas ek baar ke liye bhagode bane bina face kar lo. Dhokebaazi toh pehle se hi tumhari fitrat rahi hai. Abh toh apne personality traits mein bhusdili bhi add kar lo.” Bani hissed at him. He tried to grab Bani’s throat but she grabbed his hand with her other hand.

Jay tried to fight Bani but she wasn’t the same old Bani anymore.

“Bohot das liya logo ko, Jay.” Bani turned into her human Naagin form. Her scales showed that this Bani meant business. Her eyes in slits. She looked out for blood. Jay felt a fear boil up into his spine. Perhaps he might have just underestimated how much he could push Bani. Bani threw him against a rock. His back hit the rock. Her scales flashed violently. Jay tried to get up and run. Bani was fast to grab him back and throw him against a tree. “Bhaag kahan rahe ho, Jay? Mujhe maar ke meri shaktiya paana chahte ho na? Aao. Yaha tumhare saamne khadi hun.”

“Bani, hum kabhi ise tumhe maarne nahi denge.” Tapish told her.

“Tapish bhai, jaise mere fights aur mere orders ke beech kisi ka interference mujhe nahi pasand, exactly same tarah se Bani ko bhi pasand nahi. Adi-Naagin hai. Apne aap ko defend kar sakti hai. Aur accha tamasha ho raha hai. Disturb mat karo.” Veer signalled Tapish and Sam to move back.

“Abh toh tumhare aur mere beech Veeranshu bhi nahi aa raha. Abh kis baat ka darr hai? Aao. Face karo, Jay. Itne dur aake shaktiya paane ka mauka haath se jaane doge toh bewakoofi hogi.” Bani challenged him tauntingly. “Aaj toh dekh hi lete hai ki Adi-Naag mein kitna dum hai.”

Jay turned into his human naag form too. The taunting from Bani’s end had offended him. He tried to attack Bani but she ducked it with an ease that made his attack look a silly attempted attack.

“Jay, main Adi-Naagin hun. Koi aam ladki nahi. Yeh saare attacks kacche khiladiyo ke liye hai. I’m sure you can do better than this. Veeranshu ke haath se itni maar khayi hai ki ladna bhi bhul gaye?”

Veer laughed. Jay hissed angrily and launched an attack at Bani. It was foolish to think that Jay’s venom would have any effect on her. She had her own venom that was counter to all the venoms. Jay knew that. He wasn’t that foolish. He stared at Veer in anger.

“Mujhe kya ghoor rahe ho? I wish… itni dil se wish thi meri ki tujhe maarne wala main banu. Exactly jaise tujhe satyug mein maara tha. But then again jo tune Bani ke saath kiya hai, uske baad toh Bani ka haq banta hai tujhe maarne ka.”

“Jay, kya hua? Darr lag raha hai? Kyu abhi meri shaktiya nahi chahiye?” Bani asked Jay, tauntingly. Jay tried to attack her but Bani elbowed him. The blow was hard that it made Jay cough up. Bani once again crashed him against a rock. This made Jay cough up blood mixed with snake venom. Jay looked up at Bani in fear as he realized exactly which organ she was going for.

“Bani…” Jay hissed.

“Sarvasresth Adi-Naagin, Jay. Bhul gaye? Tum apna vaada bhul sakte ho. Maine uss din kasam khaayi thi, Jay. Jis din tum Naaglok se gaddari karoge uss din tumhare liye main phir kabhi Bani nahi rahungi. Sarvasresth Adi-Naagin ko tum face karoge. Jiske saamne saare naag-naagin jhukte hai.” Bani corrected him.

Even with their healing, there was one interior organ that they cannot heal. If it was damaged, they’re almost without defence against cheels. Their venom glands. Bani was targeting that by constantly throwing him against trees and stones on his back. Bani grabbed his throat.

“Bani…” Jay started to sound scared now. She didn’t resemble the Bani Jay had remembered. No, she was different. She had gone from being that soft, naïve and easy to fool Nageshwari to being Adi-Naagin. This Bani was different. She was more in her element as a snake than she was before. She seemed like the vengeful naagin everyone would dread to have on their tracks.

“Jay, tumne saari hadein paar kar di hai. Tumhe phirse mauka dena hi bewakoofi tha.”

Jay grabbed Bani but she elbowed him and crashed him against a tree. Jay coughed up more blood and venom. He turned into his snake form. Bani faced him in the same form. She moved a stone with her tail and threw it over Jay. It hit Jay. She caught him by the tail and threw him against the tree.

The two returned to their human form. Bani had actually injured his venom gland. It made him unable to use his own venom anymore. Jay got angry and lunged at her with a dagger. Bani caught it before the dagger could pierce and twisted his arm and punched him in the face.

“Tumse kaha tha, Jay, jis tum Naagvansh ke khilaaf ho jaaoge, uss din main yeh baat bhul jaaungi ki tum Adi-Naag ho.” Bani told him. “Iss baar agar zeher se bach bhi gaye kuch karke toh koi kaam ken ahi rahe. Phan toh toot chuka hai tumhara. Zeher bhi nahi raha abh tumhare paas.”

Veer stood up this time.

“Sweetheart, tum Meera aur Vanshika ko leke jaao. Hum kaam pura karke aate hai.” Veer offered her. Bani nodded and started off with Meera. Veer watched as Bani walked ahead. She turned around to take a look at him. He winked at her. Once they were out of sight. Veer had a killer grin on his face. Typical to Veer Singhania and Aakesh. The villain like vicious grin. “Ufff… maza aa gaya. Kya batau main.” Veer put his hand on his heart. “Tujhe marte hue dekhne ka maza hi kuch aur hai, dhabewale.”

After a few moments, the Singhanias showed up there. Daksh, Ponky, Pawan and Balwant. They all saw Jay beaten up.

“Tum….” Jay hissed. He tried to get up but Veer put his foot on Jay. On the sorest spot. Where the venom glands are supposed. “Aaaahhh…” Jay shouted.

“Tu mujhse bhi bada villain nikla, yaar. Maine apne kul-guru ka woh haal kiya kyuki usne mere bhaiyo ko maara aur hume dhoka diya hai. Tune toh apne Naag Mandir ke pandit guru ko aise hi maar diya. Kyuki use tumhari asliyat dikh gayi? Kya bolte hai use…” He turned to Daksh.

“Do you mean Brahma hatya?” Daksh offered the word.

“Haan… wahi. That. Ek pandit ko maar diya tune? Jisne tujhe panah di use hi maar diya. Guts lagte hai aise villain banne ke liye.”

“Tujhe kaise…” Jay was surprised.

“Dhabewale, marne ke baad saare insaano ko shamshaan le jaate hai. Chita par jalate hai. Aur shamshaan cheelon ka ilaka hota hai. Koi bhi cheel badi asaani se pata kar sakta hai ki naag ke dasne se kon mara hai. Naag ki smell aa jaati hai usse. Aur aghori aur cheel purane dost hote hai. Jab tumhare pandit ki chita jalayi jaa rahi thi tabh ek aghori ne dekha tha. Bas….” Veer explained.

“Yahan kya kar rahe hai, Veer?” Balwant asked. He too had begun to think that coming into Bani’s association, he had grown a softness in him.

“Main bhula nahi hun jo tune mere saath kiya hai. Kaha tha tujhse ki phir se Bani ko chua bhi toh phaad dunga.” Veer’s comment was animalistic. Balwant grinned at the tone. Seems like the old Veer Singhania isn’t completely gone. Jay stood up trying to help himself. Veer’s talons came at display. Jay felt scared. He didn’t even have the venom to save himself. Veer started circling Jay like the eagle he was. “Warn kiya tha tujhe. Mujhse panga mat le. Mere muh mat lag. Main dikhta hero jaisa hun but sach toh yahi hai ki main abhi villain hun.”

Veer showed off the sharpness of his talons on tree bark. The mark was sharp on the bark. Sharper than what a tiger could make.

“Dad, ek baat hai. Haath mein aayi baazi ko kaise haarna hai yeh toh sirf Jay Mathur hi jaan sakta hai.” Veer put his arm on Balwant’s shoulder. “Kitni baar hi baazi iske haath mein thi. Pehle kyuki Bani iska saath de rahi thi. Phir iske paas Markaat ka saath tha. Phir naagmani tak iske haath lag chuki thi.”

“Isse better situation toh main bhi handle kar leta, Veer bhai.” Ponky laughed. The Singhanias laughed at that. “Yeh toh wahi baat hui ki nivala muh tak aaya toh Cheel bhai uda le gaye haath se.”

The Singhanias laughed again.

“Tujhe kya lagta hai? Main tujhe dhundh ke nahi maar sakta? Yaad kar, mere bulane pe toh panchi khud chale aaye. Mere liye tujhe dhundhna bohot mushkil kaam nahi tha. Sweetheart ko convince karna bohot hi mushkil tha ki tujhe khatam karna zaroori hai. Tu jab tak nahi marega, meri aur sweetheart ki jodi kaise banege. Abh main dekhta hun saala kon bolega ‘Adi-Naag aur Adi-Naagin ek saath rehte hai’. Main soch hi raha tha ki kaise use convince karun ki tu maara gaya toh sabh apne aap mein hi theek ho jaayega. Itne mein tune hi apni aukaad dikha di aur mere liye sabh asaan kar diya.”

“Veer bhai, itni asaan maut nahi aani chahiye ise. Saale ne aapko maarne ki koshish ki hai.” Sam insisted. Even with his sweetness, after all Sam was a Singhania. Every Singhania had their own share of violent tendencies. Tapish’s came out when someone hurt his brothers. Sam’s came out when someone pushes his buttons far too much.

“Acha. Toh yeh batao kaise maarein? Iska naag tandoori banake kauwo ko khalae? Ya aap cheel banke khud hi khaane ka plan kar rahe ho?” Daksh asked. He pulled out a dagger. Veer looked unimpressed.

“Sunke maza nahi aaya. Koi aur idea de.”

“Waise Black market mein snake skin still has a lot of value.” Sam suggested. “Ise marna animal cruelty ke andar bhi nahi aayega. Accha khaasa handbag ban jaayega iska.”

Veer laughed. He looked at Balwant.

“Kya, Ballu… Dad. Aapke paas koi creative idea nahi hai? Vaise toh dimaag bada chalate hai. Aaj bol raha hun chalane ko toh chup khade hai.”

“Main toh tujhe wapas dekhe ke khush hun. Pichle kuch mahino mein aisa laga kit u badal hi gaya Bani ke saath. Mujhe laga tu soft ho gaya. Toh bas iss surprise ke chakkar koi idea nahi aa raha.” Balwant answered with a grin.

“Isko maarke yahin saanpo ke liye chod dete hai. Don’t King cobras eat snakes?” Pawan suggested.

“Dad, encyclopaedia padh rahe hai. Kya baat hai…” Daksh teased. The Singhanias laughed. Veer thought. He crouched drown to Jay’s level. He made that signature clicking sound.

“Tch tch tch …. Nahi chachu, aise nahi.” He told his family. “What was that? ‘Yaad hai kaise mara? Mujhe toh phir bhi asaan maut mili. Tujhe? Trishul par latke the 5-6 din. Giddh kitne acche se teri body ki dawat uda rahe the. Kaafi accha taste kiya hoga na tu unhe…’ Yahi kaha tha na tune?” Veer’s eyes were twinkling with that crazy look. “Chal aaj tujhe demo deta hun ki woh maut kaisi feel hoti hai.”

The look in his eyes changed from crazy to murderous.

“Bhai, baton mein kya time waste kar rahe ho?” Ponky commented. Even with how scared Ponky generally is, when he standing around Veer, Ponky gets his confidence high.

“Iss baar tujhe asaan maut nahi dunga. Tune galat person se panga liya hai. Bani ke kehne pe tujhe chod kya diya, tu toh khud ko Rambo samajhne laga? Sholey move ka Veeru bhi main aur Gabbar bhi main.” Veer told him.

“Bhai… Thakur ki tarah iske bhi dono haath nikaal lete hai…” Daksh laughed.

“Marne waala hai, dhabewale. Nark mein jalne se pehle aakhri baar chahe toh apne Bholenath ko yaad kar le. Shayad tujhpe taras khaa ke bacha le saza se.” Veer offered. “Main dushman ko pura mauka deta hun. Abh tu meri sweetheart se jeet hi nahi paaya. Kya kare? Iske baad toh Markaat bhi tujhe nahi lega.”

Jay shoved Veer away angrily.

“Aeee…” The Singhanias roared together.

“Aww… Naag baba ko gussa aaya?” Sam taunted him. Veer looked up at the sky.

“Abh mujhe mat bolna. Maine koshish kiya isse samjhane ki ki aapki sharan le le. Abh isse hi nahi aana toh main kya karun?” Veer said and put his hands up in surrender to Shiva.

“Time waste mat kar.” Tapish told him. Veer’s talons made a gaping cut. Blood began to pool down. Sam punched him in the face. Daksh grabbed him a headlock and Ponky kicked him in the gut.

“Yeh uss din ka jab tune mujhpe attack kiya tha…” Ponky punched him in the face. Veer clicked his fingers and Daksh let him go.

“Kaafi time ho gaya hai ki maine naag ka shikaar nahi kiya. Abh thoda important ho gaya hai ki tujhe aur tere saathiyo ko main yaad dilau ki main unka baap hun.” Veer grabbed his throat. This time it was no joke, this was the eagle’s grasp. No snake could free themselves from this grip. Not even Bani. It could break bones.

“Veer aaj form mein hain. Teri ticket confirm hai. Seatbelt laga le.” Pawan pointed laughing. The grip had began to choke Jay. He saw the murderous crazy look in Veer eyes.

“Tune Bani pe attack kiya hai. Asaan maut toh main tujhe dene se raha nahi. Bani ko guilt hoga tujhe maarne ka par mujhe nahi hoga.” Veer whispered to Jay. He made Jay look into his eyes. The madness. The way he’s so damn possessive about Bani. His obsession with her. His own madness. His violent tendency.

Veer elbowed him in the head. Jay fell down. Ponky tied a rope to his leg. Then adding a few more ropes so tightly that even he turns into a naag, he can’t free himself. Sam and Daksh pulled the other end of the rope from over a tree. Jay was hanging upside down on a tree. He was already bleeding. Veer whistled. A while later, several vultures, eagles and hawks showed up. Veer took a dagger and threw it at Jay. It hit him right on the heart. Going past the rib cage clean and piercing through the heart. An accuracy that only Veer could have managed.

“Bullseye…” Veer grinned madly and winked at Jay as the Adi-Naag closed his eyes. The Singhanias started leaving from the sight. “Mujhe kal subeh tak yeh incident saare cheelon tak chahiye. Sabh ek baat jaan le ki jo bhi Veer ke khilaaf gaya uska bhi yahi haal hona hai. Meri takat, mera taaj aur mera position sirf mera hai. Not taking kindly to someone trying to occupy it while I’m busy playing games with people.”

“Ji, bhai. Ho jaayega.” Ponky assured.

As they started walking away, Balwant looked at Veer. This seemed like his son, Veer Singhania. The Veer that he was insanely proud of. The King of Skies. King of the Night.

“Mujhe laga ki tu bhi Bani ki tarah ban gaya. Pyaar baantne wala aur respect, pyaar and nonsense ke saath raaj karne waala raja.” Balwant pointed out. Veer tilted his head and gave his father a look.

“Kaisi galat fehmi paal rahe ho? Bani se pyaar hua hai mujhe. Uske usoolon ko apna banane ka irada nahi hai. I’m rather pleased with being the Veer Singhania I have always been.”

“Acha? Phir Bani ke saamne sabh bhul jaayega. Woh kahegi ki kisi ko chod do aur tum uski baat maan loge.” Pawan commented. Veer laughed.

“Come on, Chachu. Aap jaante nahi hai kya mujhe? Kitna hi time lagta use kisi sunsaan jagah le jaake maar dene mein? But usmein woh maza nahi aata jo aaj aya jab Bani uski halat puncture kar rahi hai. If there’s anyone who deserves to see the drama unfold, it is me. Teen mahine torture hua hun uss Jay-Jay ke gungaan sunke. I had to make sure she sees his sides. Jab tak dhabewala puri tarah uski aankhon se nahi jaayega, tabh tak meri jaan puri tarah meri kaise hogi. Aur rahi baat Bani ki baton ki sunne ki toh… I can’t help it.” Veer’s grin was enough to tell them he wasn’t going to change but possibly might try to look like a sudhra hua ladka before Bani.

Pawan and Balwant looked at each other and laughed. Veer turned back to look at his father and uncle who now broke into fits of laughter.

“Kya?” Veer asked. Tapish too broke into laughter. Veer grinned but look confused.

“Bechari Bani. Use sach mein lagta hai ki thoda soft ho jaayega uske saath reh reh ke.” Tapish laughed.

“Jitni bechari Bani nahi hai utne bechare toh aap hai. Ladki ke saath openly flirt kar rahe hai but use samajh hi nahi aa raha hai…” Veer retorted.

“Veer…” Tapish warned. That said, Veer started running ahead with Tapish running behind. Sam broke into laughter at that.

“Bhago, Veer bhai.” Sam teased.

“Saale, tu bhi wahi tha. Mere saath.” Veer shouted at Sam. He turned to Tapish. “Ise bhi kaho. Yeh bhi tha wahan mere saath.”

“Tum dono ko main dekhta hun. Ruko….” Tapish shouted.

They reached the Sharma residence, Sam and Veer trying to get away from Tapish’s grasp. Veer went right behind Bani.

“Veer, tu Bani ke peeche se hat.” Tapish warned. Veer moved with Bani.

“Aise kaise? Biwi hai meri.” Veer laughed.

“Excuse me, hello? Kya?” Bani asked.

“Tapish bhai ko pata chal gaya….” Veer told her with a grin.

“Use pata hai?” Tapish asked.

“Main, Sam aur V toh wahi the but aapki favourite aur laadli Bani bhi involved thi. Phone pe thi.” Veer explained.

“Bani?? Matlab abh tum bhi Veer ke saath ho gayi?” Tapish asked Bani crossing his arms.

“Tapish bhai, mera koi irada nahi tha. Sabh aapke bhai ka plan tha. Main toh involved bhi nahi thi. Sabh in logo ne kiya tha. Yeh jaasoosi karne ka idea bhi inka hi tha. I was just the victim of gossip spread.” Bani was quick to cover for herself.

“Oh? Hello? Yeh kya hai? Tumne rang badal liye?” Veer asked.

“Nah. Its called looking out for myself.” Bani whispered back to Veer and laughed.

So, naagmani has runes etched on it eh!! So gandhak and naagmani are kinda similar and yet contrasting stones. Well, these are all special stones. The way Naags have Naagmani, Cheels have gandhak. Only that gandhak is more like its owner. Picky and very particular on who can use it.

And if I'm wrong and naagpash has it's own poison so technically shouldn't veeranshu be immune to that too?? Generally, all naags have just one type of venom because they have only one pair of venom glands that make their venom. But because Bani is Adi-Naagin, she had three pairs of venom glands which allows her to be have several kinds of venom. Venoms are generally of three types. Ones that attack nervous system. Ones that attack the blood flow system and finally ones that attack the tissue cells. Generally, a snake will have only one kind of venom. SO, even if someone is immune to one kind of her venom, she had other kinds of venom to use.

The concept of poison immunity is that, the kings are given a small doses of venom so they become immune to the amount given that can kill them in an assassination attempt. Even if someone is immune to poison, extremely high amount of poison than what the body had immunity against can still kill them.

So the pankh couldn't give him Markaat's powers but could still give him powers!! S.M.A.R.T!!😆

I'm glad that veeranshu is free of markaat now, technically markaat is not veer's devta. If you get what i mean😆
