I don't think I claimed in any of my above posts that Priya represents equality or is right in any way. I am saying exactly the opposite. Again, I did not make any mention of Vidhi's mother because I feel she deserves another thread altogether. It takes a lot of grit and compassion to be a woman like her.

Also, I do not appreciate how you made your counter-response to mine more like an attack instead of a healthy discussion. Please understand that this is supposed to be a discussion forum where all viewpoints, whether one likes them or not, are welcome and deserve their space. In fact, I do agree with a lot of what you have written, even if the tone was irksome.

I simply stated my POV which happened to be countering yours. Where exactly did I "attack" you? Again, that is your interpretation of things. But if you are so offended by my POV, I'm happy to not interact with you again and will refrain from commenting on any of your posts.

Have a nice day.

Whatever you wish. It is a public forum as I already said. And I also said I agreed with some points you raised, so obviously I don't have an issue with your POV. There is a way of expressing oneself, that's all.

Dev does have female employees but he doesn't like the intertwining of personal and professional life and what goes on in both areas of his life. If it was in his power, he would've liked to allow her to work --- they are bound by their kind of promise. They are referencing such similar incidence to what happened in Mahabharat.

Just in the case of Abhi working in his preferred field (even if its entry level job), the mother gave permission to work whereas Priya wasn't allowed to work due to the promise to Dev's father. He might not want to go against chaos against the step-mother or cause further turbulence in personal life.

Priya has the choice to walk out of the marriage if she feels caged as opposed to being hell-bent on working and living in delusion when her father was told of women not allowed to work.

Completely agree.

And to add to your point, Abhi agreed to work discreetly without letting anyone know so as to save the family name. It's a constraint if viewed in long term. Also, Dev offered to do the same for Priya when he brought two chains of hotels in her name for her to run discreetly.

And the contrast between Vidhi's and Priya's approach to life in general and hence what they end up getting is also appropriate. And of course, Priya always has the option of walking away from a marriage which she herself admitted she never wanted in the first place (She told Dev that she never loved Abhi while blaming him for her unsuccessful marriage).
