Poet, 2 great love stories are Thornbirds and A woman of Substance. Try and get your hands on those. You will laugh, cry and go through ....oh so many emotions😊

Yes, aditi! Thorn birds is awesome.

Poet! I liked "gone with the wind" novel better than the movie. The novel was too good.

And I like all the Jeffrey Archer's novels too.

You know the best love stories, the mushy stuff are the Danielle Steele, Barbara Taylor Bradford and Judith Krantz books which have been made for TV. I am not sure if these are available easily. I pick them up on my visits to the UK or through Amazon.com along with a lot of other films.

I am not suggesting foreign films as movies I feel are very subjective issues. What I like may not be your choice. If other than love stories one would like to watch other films do indicate topic and I would be happy to suggest. This is somewhat a part of what I do.

TV serials afforded me a break from films but after what is happening in the serials😡 that I watch, I am going back to my movie watching with a vengeance.😉

I like this thread where we can discuss things other than depressive cv's and their serials.😊

Yes I also like this thread.
I am also going back to movies and books with a vengeance, where there is some symmetry amongst assymetrical stuff.
I will surely catch those two movies.
Shilpa- I also liked DVC book as a novel, not as a movie. What sort of books do you like? The suggestions would depend on that.
Me reading a Sam Bourne now - The Last Testatment.

Then you must watch Kane and Abel. It is one of the greatest films made. Starring Peter Strauss and Sam O Neill amongst others. They are the main protagonists.

Aditi! I have read Kane and Abel as novel. I have read its sequal too, The prodigal daughter. Both are awesome novels.

I somehow don't like to watch movies based on the novels I read. I feel the essence is missing in the movies when it is recreated from the novels. And , moreover, we visualise certain things while reading, and when we see that in movies, we feel disappointed.

Well, you will be pleasantly surprised. This was a great rendition of the book.
With so many books being made into films, it is sometimes difficult not to see the film.

I agree more often than not the movies fail to encapsulate the essence of the book so I try not to expect too much and I am sometimes pleasantly surprised.

See it for the film and don't compare it on a one to one - I am fairly sure you will not be disappointed.

It is a bit like Love Story, ...............Great Book and a well-depicted film (in fact a cult film during its time), however, whilst I liked the film immensely, I preferred the book.
