An honest comparison between Shankar and Shaan

Every singer has his forte..
Shaan's forte is soft romantic numbers..since the original king of soft romantic numbers Sonu Nigam has more or less left the scene, Shaan is the best among the current lot of singers in this genre..
If u look at the range of the voice, then KK is the best among the present lot (plus he has a fantastic voice quality too)..
For high pitch stuff, Sukhwinder , rahat fateh ali khan etc are there..
For classical stuff. shankar, Shafquat amanat ali khan etc are there..
May be u wont agree with some of the singers that i put in each category, but the point i m trying to make is that if u are comparing 2 singers, compare in a genre..tat would be a true comparison..Hope u get the point 😉

Dont know why he is underrated. Once I had a debate in SA re ga ma forum who is better KK or Atif. You know what they said they dont even know KK. What a shame that we see thing through Media' eyes. We know people who dominates in media, we hardly know people who does not show up in TV. Maybe thats one of the reason why Himmesh won Filmfare award but KK never got one.

Waah. Kya sahi likha hain.
To second your point, Sonu Nigam was once asked that how did he feel losing out in the filmfare race to Aashiq Banaya Aapne. He replied by saying that it is not right to nominate Dheere Jalna and Aashiq Banaya Aapne in the same genre for popular awards. Film music is expanding genres.

Yup this is exactly the reason. Excessive lobbying is the key in winning awards.

True yaar..Sahi mein..KK gazab ka singer hai..but aam junta doesnt know him because he generally remains away from media..In fact he once said that he dont want to come as a judge on any show as he was not too impressed with all the drama surrounding fame gurukul when he was there as a judge.. May be agar wo kisi reality show mein aaye to public use jaanne lage.. but the fact remains ki no singer among present lot can match him in terms of the range that he has (and that he is not trained makes it even more commendable !)..But sad ki public abhi bhi confuse ho jaati hai ki is he KK the singer or KK the actor ( no offence to KK the actor) 😉

Agreed with this points.this point lovely shaan to will agree and has agreed dat he is not trained much in classical numbers,still he was student on classical basis,he was learning,in many interviews,as well as in MKMM..
Shaan in live shows ya some little bit up down in high pitches..

Exactly..Plus filmfare award is totally farce these days..they ask for public voting..Y cant u ask the jury..Public to vote popular songs ke liye karti hai..they dont see the nuances and difficulty level of the song..filmfare award is totally crap..otherwise how can one explain KK not even nominated once (correct me if i am wrong) and mohit and himesh winning it..

He was nominated for last two years. Last year he should have won for Khuda jane but Sukhwinder took the trophy for Haule haule ( Rab ne banadi jodi). A year before that he had tough competetion from Sonu and Shaan. Though all (KK, Sonu and Shaan) deserved award that year Shaan came up as a winner.

Sukhwinder won for Haule Haule because he had a tiff with AR Rahman. So just to cool him up they handed him the award. The same reason why Big B won the best actor trophy this year since he has boycotted Filmfare recently.
You know what Sonu Nigam had to say about Ajab Si...that KK sang that song like a dream. He wished he had sung that song.
