Himesh Reshammiya may be trying very hard to keep the cast of his next film, Karzzzz, a secret. But if sources are to be believed, Emraan Hashmi [Images] is the latest to join the cast.

He will play the role which Raj Kiran played in the original Karz.

As for the rest of the cast: Danny Denzongpa will play Pran's role, and Feroz Khan will play Premnath's role of Sir Judah. Urmila had already been finalised for Simi Grewal's role.

Though discussions are on in full swing about who will play Tina Munim's role. But if grapevine is to be believed, Kannada actress Jennifer Kotwal has been roped in already.

Heroines refusing to do a love-making scene are commonplace, but now heroes too seem to have reservations about doing such scenes. Recently, Himesh Reshammiya refused to do a love-making scene for Pooja Bhatt's upcoming film Kajra Re following which Pooja dropped the scene from the script.

Our source informs us that the Kajra Re script had to be altered as per Himesh's demand. He says, "When Himesh came to know that he had to make love to the heroine in Pooja's film, he flatly refused. Mahesh Bhatt and Shagufta Rafique, who have penned the script, tried to reason out with Himesh, but failed. He was absolutely resolute about not doing the particular scene."

Kajra Re is inspired by a true story about a lawyer from the pre-independence era, who meets a girl in Morocco and falls in love with her at first sight. Unfortunately, the girl disappears soon after. Ultimately, the lawyer tracks her down to a red-light area in Hiramandi in Pakistan.

When contacted, Shagufta (who also wrote the script of Pooja's Dhokha) says, "In the story, after Himesh tracks down the girl, he takes her out for a day. They land up in a hotel and end up making love. The scene was following the natural progression of the narrative and I don't see what was wrong with that."

She continues, "Himesh, however, is entitled to his opinion. When I met him for a script session, he absolutely refused to shoot the scene. He did not tell us whether he was uncomfortable or that the scene was unnecessary. He was simply vehement about removing the scene."

On the other hand, Mahesh Bhatt agreed with Himesh's stand on the issue. He says, "Himesh had put forward a very pertinent question. He wanted to know whether doing away with the scene would enable them to strike a chord with the masses. He definitely had a point and hence we agreed with him."

Kajra Re will be shot in Morocco, Europe and Pakistan (Himesh's lovemaking scene was to be shot in Lahore). The film is scheduled to come on the floors in January 2008. Himesh's hair loss problem has been solved, thanks to a hair transplant and he will be seen minus his cap in Kajra Re.

Industry unhappy with the nominations for the 14th annual Star Screen Awards that will take place tomorrow


There are some serious boo -boos in the nominations for the Star Screen Awards to be held tomorrow, at the MMRDA grounds. But the most shocking is the omission of the most talked about film of the year, Jab We Met.

What criteria?

An industry source says, "The nominations are really bizarre, for instance they have given all the sixteen girls from Chak De! India a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category; that's really strange.

Other than that, a film like Jab We Met has been sidelined in the Best Film category and Imitaz Ali has not bagged a nomination for Best Director. And Vishal-Shekhar have been nominated for the Background score for OSO which has been done by while Sandeep Chowta provided."

Imtiaz has been nominated for the Best Story and Best Screenplay category. "One wonders what the criteria is for selecting films," asks the source.

Himesh Reshammiya who made the biggest grossing debut with Aap Kaa Surroor didn't even get a single nomination. Neither did he get a mention in the Best Debut category nor did his chart-buster music garner any attention.

Reshammiya however is not affected by this. "I don't wish to comment on anything, I am doing some very exciting new projects and don't wish to be bitter about anything," the singer maintains.

They said

Deepa Karmalkar, the spokesperson of Screen weekly said, "We are not in a position to defend this procedure of selecting the nominees, we have eminent personalities from the Hindi film industry and they are not reveled before the awards night as nominated people might want the jury to bend their way."

Himesh Reshammiya has kept his wife Komal under wraps all this while. Here's a first jhalak of Mrs Reshammiya

Finally, we know what Himesh Reshammiya's wife Komal looks like. Extremely low-profile and avoiding photogs,
Komal was part of the audience at the silver jubilee celebrations of Utpal Shanghvi School held at the Andheri Sports Complex on Saturday. The couple's son Swayam studies at the Juhu school.

The composer-singer and lately turned actor has kept his family strictly under wraps all these years. Reshammiya does not even make a mention of them leave alone get spotted with them.

It was only in Koffee With Karan's last season that anchor Karan Johar managed to make the Aap Kaa Suroor star admit that he was married with a son.

But all requests for a family portrait or even an interview with his better half would be turned down repeatedly. "Please keep them out of it," he would say.

As reported, 'Especially for you, beta' (Hitlist, January 5), Reshammiya was to take centrestage at his son's school's 25 years celebrations free of cost. "Children are my biggest fans and I am doing this for their love," he said.

The event had father and son performing. This meant Komal would definitely be in the audience and that's how these pictures were possible.

Biggest draw

Reshammiya who was the scene-stealer at the show did the finale act with a medley of his chartbusters. He goaded the audience to break the rules and turn the stadium into a nightclub. He even got the principal and trustees to get jiggy with him!

Ex-students who performed at the show included singer Parthiv Gohil (Yun Shabnami from Saawariya), Svetta Keswani (she did a Nach Baliye with beau Alexx O'Neill), Aditya Narayan (he crooned on popular tracks) and telly actress Urvashi Dholakia (she did a comedy routine, a la Comedy Circus). Anand Raaj Anand, whose daughter was an ex-student, also performed.

How Nimesh Dave got the pictures

"Himesh's son's school event in which both were performing meant that Himesh's wife Komal would definitely be in the audience. Not many have seen her but here was this big chance — probably the only one now!

Once Himesh's parents were spotted, I knew she would be in the vicinity. I started clicking the woman seated besides them. Himesh's father Vipin Reshammiya stopped me. He told me they don't like family stuff in the media.

I knew this was Komal indeed! Then he approached one of the organisers to stop me from clicking. Moments later, a security guard was asked to sit in front of Komal to avoid getting a clear view.

After the show ended, I went up to her and said, 'Komal bhabhi…' but she just walked off with her son. But by then, I had managed to take the most wanted pic!"

In a parting shot, Himesh surprised everyone at the end of the show by asking his son to join him on stage.

He asked the public to bless his son just as they had blessed him. This is the first time the father and son were seen in public together.
