Himesh has lost it!

Himesh Reshammiya who plays a rockstar in Karzzzz, had to lose 10 kgs, but has managed only seven so far

After Shah Rukh Khan's six packs for Om Shanti Om, it is Himesh Reshammiya who gearing for his role in his next film, Bhushan Kumar's Karzzzz, which hits the floors on January 29 with a 40 day schedule in South Africa. Himesh has already lost seven kgs for the film and is in the process of loosing three more kgs in the next 10 days before the film hits the floors. Reshammiya who weighed 73 kgs now weighs 66 kgs.

Karzzzz is a musical and Himesh will play a rockstar in the film and perform to four dance numbers. For his role he needed to be fit and trim and so he hit the gym. He was advised light exercises and cardio. And the result is there for all to see. In the next 10 days he has to lose a bit more before he leaves for his outdoor shoot to South Africa.

So what will it take Himesh to get that rockstar look? Sounding very excited about his mission weight-loss, Himesh says, "Yes, it's true that from today I am going on a crash diet as I need to loose three more kgs before my outdoor shoot for Karzzzz. I have lost about seven kgs so far by exercising and diet control. To achieve that lean look, I will be strictly on a diet of boiled vegetables and fruits, 16 glasses of water in a day."

He adds, "For the last two months, I was doing cardio and no weights. Now this crash diet with light exercise will help me reach my target - I have to lose 10 kgs for Karzzzz."

Himesh further says, "Indra Kumar's daughter Shwetha Kumar will be making her debut in Karzzzz. She was initially supposed to make a debut in her father's film but I guess they felt that Karzzzz would be an ideal debut for her."

Meet Himesh's girl in Karzzz

Producer-director Indra Kumar's daughter Shweta has been confirmed as the leading lady opposite Himesh Reshammiya in Satish Kaushik's version of Subhash Ghai's 1977 blockbuster Karz..

Confirming not just the leading lady, but also the rest of the cast Himesh speaking from Hong Kong said, "Yes Indra Kumar's daughter is playing Tina Munim's part from the original.

Urmila Matondkar plays Simi Garewal's part.

Danny Denzongpa will step into Pran's role. Gulshan Grover is playing Premnath's prat. And Raj Babbar is stepping into Pinchoo Kapoor's character.

Finally, Rohini Hattangadi will be playing Durga Khote's part."

Adds Satish Kaushik, "Indra Kumar and I've worked together in a large number of projects as director-actor.

He was supposed to launch his daughter in a home production. But then he thought Karzzz was an ideal vehicle for Shweta. He'll be making a film for her later."

Satish turns nostalgic. "You know I've worked with Sridevi, Tabu, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Sonali Bhendre, Mahima Chowdhary, Bhoomika and Ayesha Takiya.

I introduced Tabu in Prem and Bhoomika in Tere Naam. This year I'm introducing Sheena Shahabadi in Tere Sang and now Shweta Kumar in Karzzz.

I guess I'm lucky for the heroines. And they're lucky for me."

Continues Kaushik, "I'm getting Saroj Khanji who choreographed my very first song with Sridevi in Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja to choreograph at least some of the dances in my Karzzz.

I've just finalized locations in in South Africa and parts of Africa. We'll be shooting in Mombasa, Cape Town among other places."

He's all praise for Himesh. "He's so full of energy and gusto, it's a pleasure just watching him compose his songs and preparing for his part.

I've a feeling me and Himesh will create something special in Karzzz. We aren't trying to compete with Subhash Ghai's Karz.We're doing our own thing."

As for the original Kamini, Simi Garewal's comment that Sushmita Sen would've been far better than Urmila Matondkar as the new-millenium Kamini, Satish laughs, "Actually there's a romantic angle to the character's relationship with the hero that wasn't there in the original.

Himesh romancing Sushmita wouldn't have worked."

KARZZZZ shooting to commence

Shooting of Himesh Reshammiya's KARZZZZ is scheduled to commence from 25th January and the film will be shot in South Africa, Kenya & Mumbai.

An exciting feature about KARZZZZ is that the audience will see Himesh without his cap and WITH his hair!!! The Actor will be seen in the film with a new twist, and without his trademark cap!

T-Series has bought the remake rights from Mukta Arts for the original film ' Karz' directed by Subhash Ghai. The original film had a cast of Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim, Premnath amongst others and was a blockbuster of the 80's.

Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film also stars Urmila Matondkar, Gulshan Grover, Danny Denzongpa and Rohini Hatangadi. Himesh Reshammiya also scores a hat trick by acting, singing and composing the music for the film!!!

Suspense around the leading lady with the film has also been revealed as the girl would be Shweta, daugther of producer-director Indra Kumar who has given blockbuster films like Dil, Beta, Mann and the recent laugh riot Dhamaal.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, KARZZZZ is a remake of Subhash Ghai's 1980 film about reincarnation. Swetha will make her debut with Karzzz and play the lead role of Tina Munim opposite Himesh Reshammiya who will don Rishi Kapoor's role for the same.

Himesh wants original song in new Karzzz

Himesh Reshammiya's second outing Karzzz continues to make news-n-noise, even though director Satish Kaushik and producers Bhushan Kumar and Kishen Kumar have yet to embark on a major shooting schedule of the reincarnation film in South Africa and Kenya. While a lot has been said, spoken and written about the remake of Ghai's Karz, here's something you didn't know.
The makers of Karzzz have decided to retain the signature tune of the film, which plays in the background the moment the protagonist remembers his punar janam. "It's a haunting tune and all of us decided that we should use it in the remake as well," Satish Kaushik said.

While Himesh has already recorded fresh songs for the remake, there's one song that they've decided to retain from the original, Ik Haseena Thi, Ik Deewana Tha, which comes at the climax of the film.

While on Karzzz, Himesh is participating in acting workshops to get the character right. After all, not just the film or its music, even Himesh's performance will be viewed with a magnifying glass and compared to the power-packed performance that Rishi Kapoor pitched in, in the original.

Himesh seeks Rishi Kapoor's blessing for Karzzzz

Himesh Reshammiya is not taking any chances.

After the disastrous fate of remakes like J P Dutt'a Umrao Jaan [Images], and Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, the singer-turned-actor is making sure that his second film, Karzzzz -- a remake of Subhash Ghai's [Images] 1980 film -- starts off on a good note.

He has decided to seek the blessings of Rishi Kapoor [Images], who starred in the original, before leaving for the film's 45-day shoot in South Africa on January 25.

According to sources, Ghai may also give his blessings for the new film.

Himesh has already composed eight songs for the film, including a number from the original.

Producer-director Inder Kumar's daughter, Shweta Kumar, will make her debut in this film. She will play Tina Munim's role. Urmila Matondkar [Images] will play Simi Garewal's [Images] character in the remake.

The film also stars Raj Babbar, Danny Denzongpa and Gulshan Grover [Images], and will be directed by Satish Kaushik.

Himesh Reshammiya has finally got his heroine. He has been looking for a pretty girl to play opposite him in T-Series' 'Karzzzz'. Yes, 'Karzzzz is a remake of Subhash Ghai's 1980 film about reincarnation. Who is the girl is a million dollar question? This is none other than Sweta. She happens to be the daughter of Bollywood's producer-director Indra Kumar who has given blockbusters like 'Dil', 'Beta', 'Ishq', 'Masti' and the recent laugh riot 'Dhamaal'.
