This is Himesh mystry!
by Amit Roy

When Himesh Reshammiya launched his film 'Aap Ka Surroor'', in October at the Wembley stadium in London , he said "Many people have been asking me why I wear a cap and never smile. Some people also asked me why I always lose the girl in all my videos. Obviously I've reasons and all those reasons will be seen in the film on its release."
It is now certain that the mystry behind his not smiling will be revealed in the film. Again Himesh added that " I cann't say anything about the ending of the film as it will only be revealed on June 29, when the film release. There is a very cute scene where I burst out laughing. I know a lot of question have been asked as to why I don't smile but this photograph clearly indicates that I do smile and laugh."
Himesh is counting on his fans for his film's success. He admitted that " The audience have made my music a huge hit all over the world and now I need their blessings to huge hit of my film."

Animated Himesh
Wednesday June 13 2007 10:41 IST
It's a scary thought, but one that must be acknowledged - there is a very strong possibility that the nasal, cap-toting singer and aspiring actor, Himesh Reshammiya's debut film might just be a hit.

Apart from every rickshaw and taxi driver likely to fill the front benches, every film buff I have spoken to is keen on catching Aap Kaa Surroor - The Movie first day first show (tongue firmly in cheek).

But what is scarier is that the makers have created an animated character called HR2 which resembles Reshammiya. It will caricature the singer by sporting the trademark cap and stubble.

Christened HR2, the character will be seen in the video of Tera Mera Milna (remix version) as well as in the film.

Now, a caricature of a caricature - that's intriguing.

Reshammiya claims that HR2 is his and director Prashant Chadda's brainchild and is targeted at both children and adults

INTERVIEW | Vibha Singh
Write stuff
Chaya Unnikrishnan
After writing a religious story set in rural India, Vibha Singh is looking forward to a commercial venture, Himesh Reshammiya's debut film Aap Ka Suroor which she has penned...
When and how did you conceive the idea for Dharm?
The story of Dharm was conceived 8-10 years ago when somebody asked me to write a simple story, something like Bicycle Thief. I decided to write on religious intolerance. It would have been easy to pen a story of conflict between a Hindu and a Islamic. But the verses of Kabir, 'Bura jo dekhat mein chala, bura na milaye koi, jo man khoja apna, isse bura na koi...' which means 'If you look into yourself you will find enough faults in you,' came to mind. So I decided to write an introspective story weaving it around Pandit Chaturvedi's life. Why did it take you so long to translate it into a film?
After I wrote the story, it was just lying unused. Four years ago, a common friend suggested that I meet Bhavna Talwar who was looking for scripts. I narrated four commercial subjects to her and she was not interested at all. We said bye, I went out and then reverted asking her to hear out two more scripts on serious subjects. Of the two, she liked Dharm. Though the story is mine, it is she who nurtured it and mutually we brought it to life. It seems to be a deeply researched story...
Yes. We did extensive research on the subject. I am a Brahmin from Benaras and am familiar with some of the rituals. However, I didn't know much about how the priests live and what they practice. Both Bhavna and me spent 10 days in the holy city and visited all the temples. I think I have visited enough temples to last seven generations! Seriously, we used to reach for the rituals at all kinds of odd hours including 2.30 am. We also visited the Muslim section of society. We spent a lot of time at the ghats and observed different kind of pandits, some who were hardcore commerical and some who talked about poverty and their need to survive, a perspective that I have incorporated in the film. Even the names of some characters are from real life. What was Pankaj Kapur's contribution to the script?
We were lucky to have Pankaj who was with us for various sittings giving his point of view. I was very particular that Pandit Chaturvedi should have a protruding tummy and after every shot, Pankaj would ask whether his tummy was big enough! All of us worked closely together. Many have criticised Hrishitaa Bhatt's sub-plot as irrelevant.
I know that. As a sub-plot it is not very strong but I integrated it in a broader way because I didn't want the story to be linear. Her presence affects the antagonist Surya Prakash who is her hot-headed brother and is a point of conflict with Pandit Chaturvedi. It does link up with the story. We believed in it.
Though Dharm is critically acclaimed, not many people are going to see it...
I know it will have a limited audience, but even if that section goes and sees the film I will be happy. Are you writing any commercial film?
I have already written the dialogue for films like Sur, Chura Liya Hai Tumne, Dubara and also worked on Parineeta. My next release is diametrically opposite to Dharm. I have penned the script for Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Ka Surroor, which is releasing on June 29. It has all kinds of action and masala required for a commerical potboiler. While Dharm was very rural, this one is set in Germany. I am just making a case for my versatility. That's Himesh's acting debut. What are your expectations?
I think people have very strong reactions to Himesh. They love or hate him, there's no middle way. I am hoping for the best.

Himesh woos kids with HR2

From correspondents in India, 08:31 AM IST

Maverick composer-singer Himesh Reshammiya makes his acting debut with 'Aap Kaa Surroor', which is living up to its promise of being different.

An animated character called HR2, inspired by Himesh Reshammiya, has been created and will sport his trademark cap and stubble. It is being shown in the remix version of the video of 'Tera mera milna' track. There will be another female character in the video, which will centre on their love story.

Reshammiya said that HR2 is his and director Prashant Chadda's brainchild who thought it would target both children and adults alike.

Not only will the animated characters be in the video but they will also make an appearance in the film. The video is already being aired on television from June 10. The audio rights of the film lie with T-Series.
