Himesh to do sequel to 'Aap Ka Surroor'

MUMBAI: Music composer-singer Himesh Reshammiya brushes off all criticism of his decision to turn actor with "Aap Ka Surroor" and says he is already planning a sequel to the film which is yet to be released.

"I'll of course be a musician at heart. But I'll continue being an actor. First, though, a long break after 'Aap Ka Surroor'. I intend to take a two-month holiday. Of course, my future as an actor depends on the fate of my debut. But I'll definitely do a sequel," Himesh told IANS in an interview.

"Of course, Hansika (Motwani who stars in the first film) will be with me in the next film."

"The weather at all my locations has been kind. I'm feeling very grateful. We've completed the film on schedule. Yes, some people have not been too kind to me or my project. I guess everyone who enters a new field has to go through the grind. I've to prove myself. Until I do I'm open to ridicule. But 99 percent of people have been kind.

"As for the smirking minority who're questioning my right to be an actor, let the film come. I've got positive responses from everyone. I started my career as a serial producer, even then I faced rivalry. I've changed profession several times, from producing serials to composing music to singing to doing music videos and now I've come to acting. The number of professional rivals has been accordingly large.

"My acid test was the dialogue promotional clippings for 'Aap Ka Surroor'. The film didn't go thanda when the dialogues came on. In fact it has been sold to distributors everywhere. That has given me a high."

To Himesh, acting came easy. "I'm very comfortable facing the camera. I feel as much job satisfaction as an actor as I do as a musician. Now it's up to the audience to decide how much they like my acting."

The film also stars Mallika Sherawat. In fact, Saroj Khan has choreographed the song "Mehbooba" in "Aap Ka Surroor" for her. And everyone is wondering how it compares with Ganesh Hegde's "Mehbooba" in Ram Gopal Varma's "Sholay".

Reshammiya's team on Challenge 2007 'rings' in their admiration for their mentor

His signature style maybe a cap and cape, but his team members on Zee's Challenge 2007 aren't far behind. Joy Chakraborty, Nirupama Dey and Mussarat Abbas, the three members of Himesh's gharana, have come up with a unique way to show their love for their mentor.

To set themselves apart from other contestants, Himesh's team members have been wearing rings with the initials HR engraved on them.

When asked if he has anything to do with it, His Himeshness says, "I'm not involved with the looks of the contestants or what they wear. That is totally their and the channel's decision. I focus only on the music and the training. If they are wearing rings with my initials on them, it's their prerogative."

Joy, who hails from Assam, says the decision to wear rings with Himesh's initials was a group decision.

"We respect Himesh a lot. He is the biggest music director in the country right now. We think wearing rings with his initials will not only make us stand out from the rest but also show our love for him," says Joy.

He adds that what they wear and how they look on the show is totally the channel's decision. "The creative heads behind the show were kicked about the fact that we wanted to wear these rings. I think they go with our look too."

When asked about the experience of training under Himesh, Joy adds, "He has some amazing tips for us.

Lately he has been very busy with his film so we don't meet him that often, but he still manages to call us whenever he can and make sure we are rehearsing on time."

hey dhruti...this news is old actually...i posted it on the site last wk it was from a mumbai mirror interview n now looks like all these other sites have found it too 😆 n dun 4get...we'll still see him on srgmp even if he has a 2month hol 😛

how is everyone? what did u all think of srgmp this wkend? it was fab...the least stressful wkend for us as all our rockstars passed 😉

Reshammiya becomes selfish
Even if we want, we just cannot stop talking about this man. Sometimes for the good work that he has done and most of the times for the kind and degree of controversies that he manages to create, knowingly or unknowingly.

If you have still not got his name then probably you do not stay updated. The man who we are talking about is none other, but Himesh Reshammiya!. Once again (this has become so clich!) eyebrows are raised against him. There are reports that Himesh is neglecting the film 'Apne' for which he has composed the music.

The probable and the only reason for it that Himesh's debut movie 'Aap Kaa Surroor' is releasing on the same day as 'Apne' – June 29. According to a close friend of Himesh, the man is busy juggling between his own film production and the talent show where he is a judge.

But sometimes he is also absent from the sets of the talent show. So 'Aap Kaa Surroor' is the only thing that he is busy with.

That's bad Himesh, but then everyone is partial.

The 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' song from SHOLAY, remixed by music composer Himesh Reshammiya, was picturised on the two sets at the Mehboob studios on May 31 and June 1, for Himesh's AAP KA SURROOR. It was choreographed by Saroj Khan. The song had actually been recorded by Himesh for RAM GOPAL VARMA KE SHOLAY ( or is it AJGAR?), as we had told you earlier. Unfortunately, Ramu decided to use another song in place of Himesh's 'tribute' to the late RD Burman (Panchamda).

What may come as a surprise to many is the fact that it was on the suggestion of T-Series head honcho, Bhushan Kumar, that 'Mehbooba' has become a part of Himesh's AAP KAA SURROOR. Since T-Series also holds the music rights of RAM GOPAL VARMA KE SHOLAY, Bhushan had heard Himesh's 'Mehbooba' remixed version and had loved it. He was quite sad when Varma chose to replace the song, even before picturising it. That is when he came up with the idea of including the number in AAP KA SURROOR. Himesh jumped at Bhushan's suggestion and also used it as a bait to get Mallika Sherawat to act in the film.

Every actor/actress likes to have a potentially hit song picturised on him/her for obvious reasons. Such a dance number also comes handy for stage shows which stars participate in. More the number of hit dancing songs an artist has, higher the price he/she can command for a stage show.
