IF's Music Month- Singers and Popularity?

Doston, we've all loved and voted for our favourites in music reality shows such as Indian Idol, Fame Gurukul, and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa... atleast one or two singers really win our hearts with their voice and talent and all we can do is wish for them to win..!!😃😳

But we've also noticed some trends in the results of these shows, and it's definitely something to think about...

Sandeep Acharya wins the title of Indian Idol 2, yet after sometime he is nowhere to be seen... However, Karunya, the runner up seems to be having international shows and singing for movies..

Debojit wins the title of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, yet where are some of the singers who remained, Hemachandra, Vinit? Are they going un-noticed?

Would we say that nowadays, some singers are becoming popular only because of their looks but not their voice?

Or are the actually talented singers going un-noticed, are they disappearing?

We'd love to hear YOUR thoughts on this. What do you think about singers now, are the truly good ones shining in the spotlight or is it being taken by people who don't necessarily have the talent? It's all your opinion, of course, so please don't attack anyone else's.😛

Just wanted to clarify, Hemu's definitely NOT going unnoticed. He's done playback singing for quite a few movies now 😳 He's had concerts in US and Canada and in my opinion, he has an awesome voice 😛

But it's true. This trend was evident in American Idol too. Young teenagers and pre-teens were charmed by Sanjaya (and his weird hairdo's I guess 😆 ) and his smile..the way he talked but did he really deserve the popularity he got? My opinion, no.

Also, a lot of this disappearing has to do with the number of playback singers we have these days. There are just so many of them now...and I guess the industry's not always very accepting of the new talent. 😭

This is really something to think about.
I hope now that SRGMP C2007 has started, the audience will be much more mature in voting and only vote for the genuine singer. As the judges have mentioned, people shouldn't vote according to looks or a contestant's background but listen to that magical voice and find that true gem whom's talent will be a blessing to have in the music industry.

I dunt think so. Yes some singers do gain popularity in the start due to their looks like Qazi however looks are not enough to get u till the end. Along wid voice, u also need a very important thing called X-Factor due to which the public supports u. However looks can not be called the only basis of judging for example the runner up of II1, Amit sana, was not handsome or something but he still came to the final two even through Rahul Vadya, the 2nd runner up, was more cute! 😳

Some of them do go un-noticed bec in the industry now, every day a new star is emerging however its hard for all these stars to stay there. 😳

i think this whole issue about talent loosing out in reality shows is totally useless... the whole idea of having public voting is that the channels want public to get involved and get attached to the contestants - for whatever reason... had they wanted "pure" singers, why not have just judges judging them... this is all hypocracy - first they open doors to the public - "choose ur own winner"... and then they keep crying over talent not winning...

these shows are meant for entertainment to the public and shud be limited to that alone and seen as that... it should not be looked upon as a do-or-die situation or as a pre-requisite for becoming a singer in bollywood...

as for the public - watch, enjoy, forget...

In my opinion there are a few like Nihira, Hemu and Karunya who are doing well coz they do have some serious talent in them and they haven't lost the focus(at least as yet) from their singing career ... While others (it is totally my opinion) are pretty satisfied with their stage shows in India and abroad ... In the latter case I feel they weren't really meant to be there at that time but just got lucky and took everything home for that moment ...
And also there are sooooooooooooooo many singers out there it is kinda hard to get where they want also, which is when they go un-noticed .. They have to be exceptionally good at their job or else they are going to get a ticket back home ... !

u now wat the ultimate solution for fair voting is that it shud be a radio show, where people will actually ear their voice n not get carried away by looks.

wen its the top five its difficult to decide the tru winner as all of them r gud, then u overlook the singing part n try the other categories. im not sure whether runner ups or the winner r getting more offers, but they r also talented n made the top 10.

completely agree its hard to decide when their are only top 5!!😳😳
