I love this song! Meena Kumari and Sunil Dutt are so gorgeous and adorable!!

Meena Kumari is a name that always reminds me of her legendary performances in depressing and emotionally charged roles. She was exceptional in portraying characters who struggled with social and personal issues, often dealing with heartbreak, sacrificing their desires, and facing unfulfilled wishes. She was known as the Empress of Indian Cinema, a sweetheart of the 1950s, and the undisputed goddess of 1960s Bollywood. Meena Kumari left a lasting impression on the movies with her enchanting grace, heart-melting expressions, and consistently solid progressive content. Her legacy will remain immortal as perhaps the greatest feminine incarnation of fiefdom.

The country's highest honors seem to bow their heads in front of her immense talent while realizing they are just a mere spark in comparison.

This song is one of my all-time favorites. It is known for showcasing the subtle expressions of this great actress and is considered as one of the most difficult songs to sing, even for Lata Mangeshkar later!!!

It was in 1952 when Lata Mangeshkar performed live alongside Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. It was a musical concert organised in Kolkata, then called Calcutta, where she stayed at legendary singer Hemant Kumar's home.
On the musical night, Lata Mangeshkar was scheduled to sing just before Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. In the tradition of music, such two performances are seen as competition to decide who is better.
Lata Mangeshkar was aghast at the scheduling. She refused to sing just before Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. How could she be seen as throwing a gauntlet to her idol, she told the organisers. But organisers were insistent.
She spoke to Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, who advised Lata Mangeshkar to "do what they are saying and don’t worry about these little things".
Lata Mangeshkar sang a classical composition, Baandh Preeti Phool Dor, from the 1951 film Malti Madhav. Her singing left the audience clapping in frenzy.
Bade Ghulam Ali Khan sang a khayal and then sent one of the musicians to call Lata Mangeshkar on to stage, and make her sit behind him. Sharing the stage with him was an "uncomfortable experience" for Lata Mangeshkar, akin to committing blasphemy in music.
When he finished and they were walking to his retiring room, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan told Lata Mangeshkar, "People were saying 'once more' after you sang. That is why I called for you and made you sit near me."
Lata told him, "This is the second time in my life that I have seen a great singer perform sitting on stage. The first one was my father [Deenanath Mangeshkar]."
