This song is so pretty! I'm in love!

Can someone translate? Or direct me to a translation?

The first dance seems more in a contemporary style. Is the second more traditional Rabindra Nritya?

Tap dancing is an amazing form of dance. I have been fortunate to see live performances of this type of dance tho not Riverdance itself. Michael Flately at his peak was considered the fastest tap dancer in the world. In May 1989, Flatley set a Guinness Book world record for tapping speed at 28 taps per second. He subsequently broke his own record in 1998 with 35 taps per second. ..😱😱😱😱

The music of riverdance is simply amazing but tap dance synchronicity makes it own music as well. Simply put .. amazing …

Hope is the ability to hear the music of tomorrow; faith is the courage to dance to it today 🕺

You won't believe I was going to post a tap dance as my first video on this thread!

Koi, na let me post now!

Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds in Singin' in the Rain (1952).

The choreography was by Kelly and can you believe Debbie did not even know the T of Tap dancing when she signed on to do this movie? 😲 Look at how she holds her own against two seasoned dancers! 👏⭐️ And she was only 19! 😲

Apparently, Kelly put her through hell, so much that her feet were bleeding at the end of several exhausting takes! I read someplace she said in her biography or some book that the two hardest things she's ever done in her life were Childbirth and Singin' in the Rain.

So to begin here….There is only one man’s performance that can be my starting point… as it was mine…..the movie - grease and it was my “right to passage” . Call it the SoBo life … but I was thinking … am I being hazed when this right to passage was invoked and all the laughs/smiles on my cousins faces…. 😆

And then I realized…. It was the introduction of music + dance and the memory and dance holds till today.. so without much ado.. The man himself that changed the music scene and club scene … with his performances.. John Travolta…

Well… just reminds me of my high school “house parties”… sadly we were too shy as boys to ask gals to dance… but this was part of the reason of “right to passage” ;)…. Grease is an absolute must watch movie btw…

Watch the move at 1:14 … This signature move of Travolta is still used with this song today but the best tribute is that it’s the emoji for dance on apple devices as well…🕺🕺🕺…

And finally… another classic cult must watch movie.. Pulp Fiction.. and this dance scene from them..

I have a strong desire to make this my new siggy… i might be spamming the heck out of this thread… …

Travolta! ⭐️⭐️ And Grease! Grease was a religion for me growing up! Used to know all the dialogues and still know all the songs! The characters! 😆 I remember watching the re-release in theater and then me & my friend adopted them as nicknames to people in junior high! 🤣 Crazy times. I still refer to some of those people by their nicknames (Putzie, Kenickie, Rizzo, Frenchy, Sonny!), & have forgotten their real names! 😆 The plot is somewhat dated now but the songs are still great!

Made me so emo when Travolta came up for the In Memoriam part of the Academy Awards, and the way he brought up Hopelessly Devoted to you when talking about ONJ.. 😭

Grease 2 was pretty great too! Michelle Pfeiffer has been my girl crush for so long!

And yeah, thought SNF isn't my favorite movie, that move! And the song! ⭐️

SoBo Boys and your 'partaayyys' 🤪!

Here is the translation --

'When no one responds to your call, walk alone’, Tagore advised! When you are hurt, and you seek solace in someone’s support, more often than not, no one will respond , and you better walk alone and deal with it. If you want to change the world, you must light the lamp within you that will show a new path to the world. You have to burn to create a new path, and must do it alone.

English Translation by Tagore himself

That moment when you are listening to music…. Think u are alone and just dance to the beat…. I think prolly has happened to all of us .. somewhere… 😆

This one made me laugh - cos it just proves the adage - White men can't dance! 😆

My eternal favorite! The Captain and Maria doing the Laendler ⭐️⭐️☺️

(Austrian and Bavarian traditional couple dance)

My favorite part is when she draws up behind him and offers her hand, and he just senses it and takes it! ☺️

Here's another favorite by the ever-graceful Vyjayanthimala! She's such a joy to watch! ⭐️

Just watch her neck move in the part where she's imitating the peacock! 👏 Stunning!⭐️

Another stunning visual display by two exemplary dancers - Kamalahassan and Jaya Prada

(I miss the days when classical dance was so much a part of our movies! 😒)

This is from the Tamil version, Salangai Oli which was originally made in Telugu as Sagara Sangamam.

The choreography is credited to P.S.Nivas

Music is by Ilaiyaraja

Singers are S.P. Balasubramiam and S.P. Sailaja - and they both shine!
