Dear Music lovers,

Today is Rafi Sahib's twenty sixth death anniversary (he passed away on July 31, 1980). Shammi Kapoor did remark that he considered Rafi Sahib to be his voice so much so that when the news of Rafi's death had to be conveyed, he was told that his voice had died.

Currently listening to his songs on Sony Mix. I have a long list of songs of his that I love:

Likhe jo Khat tujhe

Chaudavin ka chand ho

Yeh mera prem patra padh kar

That is to name a very small number, will be back to update.

In the meantime, all are welcome to share their favourite numbers

A lovely number from Ram Aur Shyam , is a 1967 Indian Hindi feature film, directed by Tapi Chanakya. Its producer was B. Nagi Reddy. It was previously produced as Ramudu Bheemudu by D. Ramanaidu under Suresh Productions Banner, a Telugu film starring N.T. Rama Rao, in 1964. The movie was a blockbuster.

Ram Aur Shyam has music by Naushad and lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni, it stars Dilip Kumar Pran, Waheeda Rehman, Mumtaz and Nirupa Roy.

The theme owes its origins to Alexandre Dumas's, story The Corsican Brothers: twins who look remarkably alike but have very different temperaments. In The Corsican Brothers the twins grow up together. In Ram aur Shyam, on the other hand, they have been separated at birth and discover each other only towards the end. Like The Corsican Brothers, which has been adapted into several feature films.

Wow!!! 👏 You know about everything about the song and its film and origins... I am glad to know all these information at one go 😃

Btw, Are you a Telugu Girl ? Yes I too know Telugu ... D. Ramanaidu was a Legend producer and Director of his Time... His son Venkatesh is a Super Duper Leading Telugu Film Actor,

N.T . Rama Rao was the actor who ruled the Telugu Film industry all through his Life and he is a Legend not only in Films but also in politics... 👍🏼

Anyway here is another Rafi saheb song ...

khoya khoya chaand khula aasman
aankhon mein saari raath jaage gi
tum ko bhi kaise neend aayegi
ooohhh ohhh khoya khoya chaand

Hi I am new to this forum and i am a fan of rafi saab. Grow up listening to rafi jee's songs as my father had many of his hit numbers on cassette.
I remember long lazy summers listening to his golden voice and I often get nostalgic when Im listen to his songs now.
I wasn't even born when he was alive but rafi saab will always stay amongst us through his songs may he rest in peace ameen.

Tum ne mujhe dekha
Mudhuban mere dikha
Hum aap Ki aakhon Mein
Main nigahen tere chehre se
Tum Jo mil jaye ho
Dil dhal jaye
Tasweer Teri dil Mein
Tum sa nahi dekha
Dilrubha meine tere pyar Mein
har fikar ko dhuen me
zindagi bhar nahi bhulegi
yahan badla wafa ka
do sitaron ka zameen par hai milan
Wadiyan mera daman
Abhi nah jao chor kar
jo wada kiya woh nibhana padega
dil jo keh na saka
saathiya nahi jana ke jee na lage
So many more...

I am very much a telugu girl and here are a few more of the songs I like:

  • Aapki haseen rukh pe aaj

  • Shikaar karne ko aaye, shikaar ho ke gaye

  • Pukarta challa hoon main

That is also a very dreamy song (Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman)

There are so many songs, maybe if I get some free time I shall make a new thread - take a song and update the lyrics and the all related trivia.
