Kools,
no I've not much familiar with this serial but for some fleeting views during YRKKH breaks (an irregular watch itself)...But if I am connecting correctly then isn't it based on HarKisan Mehta's novel. The author is a well known Guajarati novelist. His stories used to come as serialized installments in popular Gujarati Magazine Chitralekha. The magazine's meteoric rise in 70s or 80s was partly attributed to contribution of two authors in its stable- HK and Tarak Mehta's undha chashma sitcom. I've read a few of HK novels post publication in book form as part of interesting Gujarati literature... Remembered him writing mostly on Walkeshwar Gujarati Milieu or alike, though 'Amir Ali na Pila Rumal in Gaanth' was a fascinating read on Thag Community 'Pindharas'. His other fascinating novel "Jaggs Daku na ver na valamna" was also about an anti Hero. He was accomplished in presenting well etched anti Heroes.
I've not read Mukti Bandhan. But heve heard that it's based on Dhirubhai Ambani. HK had a soft corner for the success of 'only Vimal'. But it was not solely drawing from Ambani's. I think he was more inspired by Sumati Morarji- an amazing lady entrepreneur in Gujarati corporate world. More interestingly, she was groomed into business world by her charismatic Father-in law Narottam Morarji, the founder of Scindia stem navigation Company, which she later went on to head as chairperson. She was involved in the underground movement of independence. She was elected as vice-president of the World Shipping Federation, London in 70s. I think HK had woven this benevolent Father-in- law angle in the novel. Besides, His novels had another parallel with Tv's soap serials. They were serialized and aimed at keeping the readers' interest animated. He was deft in weaving good twists and suspense at the end of a chapter, making the reader's eagerly waiting for next installment- a week long eager wait! (Familiar week-end pre-caps?!- but unlike them, his twists were invariably propelling the plot- not hindering.) 😊
