Gurudutt a esteemed actor & director -although he had directed only 8 movies.His movies were a blend of artistic excellence & commercial aspect and depicted human emotions in ways people could never comprehend.
A broad message that movie depict is-
"To be true to himself,a man has to lose the world."
It is about the sacrifices which are demanded by the world to follow one's dreams-family, respect & even love.It explores the dangers of the commercial,selfishly fickle world which patronises & abandons art.
Don't we see a parallel to the present?😒
No wonder it was said a movie ahead of its time.😎

Movies are a powerful medium for conveying emotions.But when silence or blur convey emotions more effectively and when Ultra High Definition-ye Gurudutt jaise director hi bata sakte hai.Present day director's have better technology and tools than his time,but neither they have feeling nor conscience.Bas black money aur evil mind hai.

I like everything about this movie - story, setting, acting, songs,lyrics. Sharmila’s outfits are so apt for every scene. The theme of the movie, a married man & woman finding love/solace elsewhere, an orphan child finding motherly love in a stranger is so beautifully captured.
You really don’t have to be related to be loved. It comes to us in different forms, some are lucky to recognize and acknowledge it.❤️❤️
Manasi, like you I too like Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s movies a lot. These tend to leave you with profound thoughts. Gulzar's words leave me numb.
Another favorite of mine is tad bit old hollywood movie 'Shawshank Redemption' If haven’t already watched it, I’d recommend it. Some of the monologues of this movie are fantastic.

Added later: another one I forgot to mention is Dil chahta hai. I liked how they have depicted friendship in this movie. How the heart yearns to be young and infact becomes young when you are around friends. Despite the differences, misunderstandings, the tug one feels just thinking of close friends is heartwarming! ❤️
Vaise Anand have a different place in my heart...aapko pata hai jab humare ghar mai computer tha desktop wala tab usme anand puri audio version mai thi....matlab audio version mai puri film thi... Aur mujhe iske dialogue suune mai aur film ko Audio version mai sunne mai itna maja aata tha...😌❤
