Hey fazzu...first of all..really sorry for reverting so late....u would be aware that for past 2 days...their is diwali going on the forum with new BTS of our babies out....ao i got to read your story today only!!

Loved the part ..dhwani accepting her feelings and taking the initiative was good ..

Dhwani made her way home. It was now night time and she couldn't believe how different she felt compared to her elation from the morning. She was in love for the first time and instead of being happy, she was in tears at her fate. God has made someone for her in this world and she started to believe that it was Mukhiji but hearing him speak to Chandni Di made her think that he wasn't made for her. Mukhiji was for his Bawri and she wasn't his Bawri. She was plain, simple Dhwani. She cried at her unrequited love. It was better to not have fallen in love. At least she didn't know how it felt before but now to have such elation and to lose it all without even having had a chance, she just felt much worse. People say it's better to have loved and lost than to not love at all. At this time, she couldn't agree with it at all.

How would she meet Mukhiji now, knowing how she feels for him? She couldn't bear the thought of meeting him and not being able to touch him, speak to him. She wanted to be in his life but as his life partner, not as a friend. On the other hand she felt so angry! Angry for having fallen in love with him. Angry for him being so nice to her. For giving her hope that she actually had a chance when he could never get over Purviji.

Dhwani noticed Mukhiji's kurta still on her bed. She went and picked it up and tried to rip it up. When she wasn't able to do that, she threw it as hard as she could across the room. She didn't want it anywhere near her. She sat on the floor at the edge of her bed, just letting her tears fall as her heart broke. Dhwani didn't realise when she fell asleep in that same position on the edge of her bed. Dhwani did wake up at one point in the night due to her stiff neck. She simply got up, changed and went straight back to bed, trying not to think about Mukhiji and her broken heart.

The next day, when Dhwani woke up and looked in the mirror. She realised her eyes were swollen red from all the crying from the night before. What is wrong with me? Why am I crying over a man? She decided to try and forget what happened the previous day and try to move on. As she walked out of her room, she noticed Mukhiji's kurta on the floor. She picked it up, took it out of her room and threw it in the bin. She just didn't want to remember anything about Mukhiji at all.

Dhwani tried calling Daksh, she still needed to speak with him to end the engagement. Just because Mukhiji wasn't going to be in her life didn't mean she would continue to fool Daksh around. It wasn't fair on him at all. The only problem was that Daksh wasn't picking up her calls. Eventually she gave up trying. She then received a call from Sudha. Dhwani considered picking up her call but then thought what if she asks about Mukhiji? No, Dhwani didn't know what she was going to say, so left her phone to one side, ignoring Sudha's call.

Sudha was worried. Purvi wasn't picking up her phone calls. What reason could there be? Sudha just wanted to speak to her and spend a bit of time with her. Sudha was lonely and she knew Purvi would be too. By meeting Purvi, she would further point her in Mukhiji's direction as well. Sudha called her so many times and let some time go by in between the calls, thinking she may answer a while later but Purvi didn't seem to answer at all. When half the day had passed without any call or message from Purvi at all, Sudha decided to visit her directly. She needed to check on her, to make sure she was okay.

Within fifteen minutes, Sudha had arrived at Purvi's apartment. She knocked at the door but received no response at all. She kept knocking but again no response. Sudha thought maybe Purvi wasn't at home and had gone out so she called Purvi again. However Sudha could hear Purvi's phone ringing in her apartment but again, Purvi didn't answer the phone. Sudha called out for Purvi through the door. 'Dhwani. Are you okay? You haven't been answering my calls. I thought to come and check to see if you're okay? Dhwani?' No answer received. 'Dhwani, I know you can hear me. Please open the door. I'm your friend, you can speak to me.'

Eventually Purvi opened the door. Sudha was instantly relieved to see that she was fine and instinctively hugged Purvi. 'I'm sorry, I'm just relieved that you're fine.' As Sudha moved away from Purvi, she looked directly at her and realised her eyes were swollen and red. It looked like she had been crying. What had made Purvi so upset? Dhwani moved away from the door to allow Sudha entry. They both made their way to the sofa and sat down.

Sudha: Are you okay?

Dhwani: Yes of course, why wouldn't I be?

Sudha: You haven't been answering my calls.

Dhwani: I'm sorry but I didn't notice.

Sudha: You can try and hide how you're feeling but I can tell you're upset over something. What's happened?

Dhwani: Nothing. What makes you think that I'm upset?

Sudha: Your eyes. They're red and swollen. You look like you've been crying.

Dhwani wiped at her eyes.

Dhwani: Oh this, no I just couldn't sleep last night. That's why my eyes look like this.

Dhwani averted her eyes to not make eye contact with Sudha but Sudha wasn't to be fooled. Sudha lifted Dhwani's face up by holding her chin.

Sudha: What's happened? You can tell me. I promise I won't tell anyone. Is this about Mukhiji?

Hearing Mukhiji's name brought tears to Dhwani's eyes again.

Sudha: Did he say or do something?

Dhwani shook her head to indicate no.

Sudha: Then what happened?

Dhwani: I love him! (She covered her face with her hands)

Sudha had a big smile on her face hearing Purvi's confession but she covered it up when Purvi looked at her.

Dhwani: I shouldn't love him but I can't help how I feel. I don't want to love him!

Sudha: But why?

Dhwani: He doesn't love me.

Sudha: How do you know? Have you spoken to Mukhiji?

Dhwani: I heard him, telling Chandni Di that he can't give Purviji's place to anyone.

Sudha: That doesn't mean he doesn't love you.

Dhwani: What else does it mean?

Sudha: Did you ever stop to think that maybe he won't give Purvi's place to anyone else but that doesn't mean you can't make a place in his heart.

Dhwani: What?

Sudha: I've spoken to Mukhiji and the way he speaks of you. I know he has feelings for you.

Dhwani: Only because I look like his dead wife!

Sudha was shocked at the anger coming from Purvi. How could she explain that she was being jealous of her own self. She was Purvi. If only she could tell her.

Sudha: Who told you that?

Dhwani: You all did, by the way you all act around me and mistaking me for Purviji. Mukhiji, his children and even you. I cannot be a replacement for your Purvi. I'm not Mukhiji's Bawri and I can never be his Bawri no matter how crazy I am for him.

Dhwani started crying again.

Dhwani: Nobody will even show me a picture of her. Why is that? Am I going to feel so insecure that you don't want to show me her picture?

Sudha pulled Purvi into a hug and just let her vent out her frustrations and cry it out. At this moment in time, she needed a friend and support. After Purvi had calmed down, she apologised to Sudha for shouting at her and ruining the dress of her shoulder.

Sudha: Dhwani, I know you're upset but listen to me please. What I said was the truth. Mukhiji definitely has feelings for you and I think you should tell him how you feel.

Dhwani: Did you not hear anything I've just told you?

Sudha: I have and you listen to me. Go to Mukhiji, speak to him. Tell him you love him. What's the worst that can happen, he'll say no.

Dhwani: I can't have my heart broken.

Sudha: Isn't it broken now? Based on half a conversation you heard. Go call Mukhiji and tell him how you feel.

Dhwani: Are you sure?

Sudha: I'm 100% sure.

Dhwani then started laughing suddenly and Sudha couldn't understand why.

Dhwani: If me and Mukhiji do get together. It means I'll become your mother-in-law.

Sudha just started laughing along with her. She was just glad Purvi's spirits were better. It wasn't long now, Purvi and Mukhiji would be back together and Veer wouldn't have to tolerate her for much longer. Sudha encouraged Purvi to call Mukhiji whilst she was there and then left her to get ready for her date.

Dhwani got herself ready and composed herself to meet up with Mukhiji. While she was getting ready, she received a message from Daksh asking to meet up with her for a chat. Any other day, Dhwani would have said yes but today she wasn't going to. Today she was going to tell Mukhiji about her feelings for him. So she sent Daksh a message to say she'll meet him some other time. She also realised she had the engagement ring. She removed it from her finger and placed it to one side, so she could return it to Daksh when she next met him. She was just going to concentrate on Mukhiji and her.

Dhwani was scared and excited at the same time. Scared, wondering how Mukhiji would react. Excited at the thought of Mukhiji accepting her and hoping he would say he loves her too. The attraction was definitely there in the relationship and she couldn't wait to be able to act on this attraction. She remembered nearly kissing him a few days ago. Now she wished she did kiss him, just so then she didn't have to imagine anymore. Well if things went as she hoped, Mukhiji would kiss her for real.

Thankfully she didn't have to wait long for the moment of truth. Dhwani and Mukhiji were going to meet at a coffee shop, the same one they went to when he apologised. He was coming to pick her up so she was doing her best to look as pretty as she could for him. She also made sure to apply a little perfume so she smelled nice. Truthfully, she just wanted Mukhiji to be knocked off his senses. She was a young woman and she was going to use that to her advantage.

Soon enough Mukhiji was at her door and knocked. She practically ran to the door to answer but swiftly stopped at the entrance. She took a deep breath in to compose herself and then finally opened the door to the man of her dreams, literally. They both said hello to each other and Dhwani invited him in, while she went and got her bag. Mukhiji could smell her perfume and she smelled nice but he couldn’t tell her that, well not yet at least. He was a little curious to know why she called to meet him? Normally he did the chasing and resorted to bumping into her ‘accidentally’. Well whatever it was, he would find out soon enough. Bawri came back with her bag and they made their way out together.

Mukhiji and Dhwani made their way into the cafe and sat down. The waiter was over and took down their orders. This time, Mukhiji made no mistake with his order and provided his name as Virendra. Dhwani smiled seeing his confidence.

Dhwani: Not bad. You’re a quick learner.

Vir: When you’re the head of a village, you have to learn quickly.

Vir suddenly remembered the whole Karan scandal with Bawri and how he accused her due to his lack of knowledge about technology and what can be done with it. He always regretted that and since then, would try and learn anything that would help him. In this case, learning to order properly at a cafe to keep Bawri happy. He was quite lost in his thoughts when Dhwani said something.

Dhwani: Thank you again for letting Chandni Di down gently.

Vir: It's no problem. I didn't want her to get her hopes up when I know nothing will ever happen. I didn't want to lead her on.

Dhwani: You must have done this more than once. Handsome man like yourself.

Vir: Trust me, this was the second time. The first time...

Dhwani: What happened the first time? I'm probably going to be the third one.

Vir remembered the way Bawri drunkenly confessed her love for him.

Vir: The first time was with Bawri.

Dhwani: Purviji?

Vir: Yes. Bawri was drunk and she confessed her feelings to me but I didn't love her then or at least I didn't realise it. She didn't remember confessing but I told her and then she laughed in my face.

Dhwani: What?

Vir: Yes. Instead, she said she could never love an old man like me, who was her uncle's age. It really hurt my ego, even though it was the truth.

Dhwani: Looks like she wasn't scared to say this to your face.

Vir: No she wasn't. The whole village was afraid of me and here she didn't care about offending me.

Dhwani: What did you do?

Vir again remembered the whole incident with Karan and the aftermath. He didn't want to go into that.

Vir: Long story short, I realised she didn't mean it and she only has feelings for me. I didn't even realise when she took Sakshi's place in my heart. Sakshi was my first wife by the way.

Dhwani got lost in thought. Sudha had explained that she didn't need to take Purvi's place in Mukhiji's heart, just make her own but here Purviji herself managed to replace Sakshi's. Dhwani knew she shouldn't but she couldn't stop herself from comparing with Purviji. It was like she was in a competition with her to compete for Mukhiji's affections. Eventually, Dhwani knew she would have to be blunt. She could no longer beat around the brush. She needed to ask Mukhiji directly if she had any chance of being with him.

Dhwani: I called you here for a reason, Mukhiji. I wanted to know something.

Vir: Yes?

Dhwani: Ermm... Doyouthinkyoucaneverlovesomeoneelse?

Vir: Huh? I didn't catch that.

Dhwani took a deep breath and repeated.

Dhwani: Do you think you can ever love someone else?

Vir didn't know how to respond to the question asked. Was this a trick question? He only loved Bawri and Dhwani is Bawri so how do I answer? The time and hesitation from Mukhiji provided Dhwani her answer. No. He's probably thinking of ways to let me down gently.

Dhwani: It's okay, you don't have to answer that. I take it, you can't give Purviji's place to anyone nor allow anyone else in your heart?

Again, Vir was left speechless. Why is she suddenly asking questions like this?

Dhwani: I got my answer.

Dhwani stood up to leave but Mukhiji held her hand to stop her but she said that she needed to go as she received a message from work and she needed to get into the office as soon as possible. Vir just sat at the cafe helpless. The drinks came but now Bawri had left and Vir didn't feel like drinking tea by himself.

Vir thought over how Bawri walked away and the questions she asked. He came to a realisation that she probably wanted to know if he could give her a chance and he being the idiot didn't answer properly. Now she probably thought that he wouldn't give Bawri's place to anyone but that was ridiculous. Dhwani is Bawri! Now Vir needed to do damage control and try to get through to Bawri to explain that he does have feelings for her. Vir tried calling her but she didn't answer his calls. What do I do now? Well nothing I can do sitting here. He thought so he made his way home and would continue to try and call her after he got home.

Dhwani made her way into her apartment and just stood with her back to the door, leaning on it. So she had finally got her answer, Mukhiji didn't love her. At least now she could try and move on, no matter how much it hurt. She decided she was no longer going to cry, no man was worth her tears. She noticed the missed calls from Mukhiji but she chose to ignore them. Dhwani went and freshened up after having a shower. She felt so much better as well after it. She sat down to watch TV when her doorbell rang. Please don't be Mukhiji. To her surprise it wasn't Mukhiji but Daksh. She allowed him entry and they sat on the sofa to talk.

Dhwani: What brings you here?

Daksh: I've been meaning to talk to you for a while. So I thought to meet with you. Plus you've been calling me, sorry I've been quite busy so when I got free I came here. How are you?

Dhwani: I'm fine. Yes, I called to tell you something. I don’t know how to say this but... Ermmmm... I...

Daksh waited a while to hear what Dhwani had to say but she was struggling to get her words out. How hard can it be to say I love you? Especially when she knows I already love her. Daksh smirked seeing Dhwani's face but eventually shut her up by putting his finger on her lips.

Daksh: Quiet. Look, I know what you're trying to say. So I'll say it instead.

Dhwani: Huh?

Daksh placed his hand in Dhwani's.

Daksh: I love you too Dhwani. You don't know how happy you've made me today. It's okay, you don't have to say that you love me but I know how you feel and that's what's important. Di told me that you love me but I didn't realise it until this moment. Love is to be felt and I feel that from you.

Daksh pulled Dhwani into a big hug. Dhwani was left in shock. She was going to break up with him and instead Daksh thought she loved him. What was she going to do? Today was just going from bad to worse. After Daksh released her from the hug, she tried to explain to Daksh but then she noticed how happy he was. She realised she was about to break his heart. After having her own heart broken today, she didn't think she could do that to another. However could she continue on with this engagement knowing she had no feelings for Daksh? Dhwani thought of how she felt for Daksh. She did love him. He was her best friend and he would go to the ends of the earth for her. If she couldn't be with Mukhiji, it didn't mean she should stay single her whole life. She too can move on in her life and live happily. Also, now that Mukhiji had more or less rejected her. She wasn't going to wait around for him. Now she could concentrate on just her and Daksh' relationship. She wouldn't be unfaithful because she would put her everything into this relationship. If she had to marry someone then who better than her best friend?

Dhwani's mind was made up now. She was going to marry her best friend and they would be happy together. She explained to Daksh that she’ll make him some tea and made her way out of the sitting area and into her room. She found her engagement ring where she left it earlier that day and placed it back on her finger. Her mind was made up and she smiled whilst looking at the ring on her finger.

Sorry about the delay guys and also for the short update. I've kind of lost my interest in the show and along with it, the interest in writing as well. I actually do have an outline for this story set up so I do hope I can get the updates written. So I'll try and get the next update up, whenever I can. Again, apologies for the delay.
