Just finished seeing the episode and here's my review! Warning - bahut lamba hai😳
Right from the start, this episode keeps you on the edge of your seat - the BG music (the chant when Vaibhav runs is esp good!), the visuals the dialouges...everything is perfect! Everyone's acting is par excellence and one feels like your heart will combust of the pain & desperation which the characters are experiencing. Supriya Ma'am, Amar, Priyal, even Pranav - they have made their characters so real that it doesn't feel like a show – you are no longer in your home, you get transported to the Revari panchayat!
Prakashi’s desperation to save her demonic son moves you to tears…you feel her pain when she says beta jaisa bhi ho, Maa to Maa hoti hai! You realise that Virendra’s stoic expressions are just a façade which breaks when his mother pleads before him with folded hands and he has to turn her away; he is just as disturbed by the prospect of hanging his brother, but as the Mukhiya he has to look at only the crime and not the criminal! Panch parameshwar howe hai aur parameshwar kabhi galat ka saath na deta, aur parameshwar kisi ko na bakshta! Virendra’s turmoil is so aptly expressed when he says Mujhe apni pad ki laaj rakhni hai, Maa.
When Vaibhav runs, Virendra completely switches to the ‘Mukhiya’ persona, not batting an eyelid even when Vaibhav is pointing the gun at him. But when he calls him sautela, you can see in Vir’s eyes how hard that word hits him! As Vaibhav is escaping, Vir has the gun trained on his leg, but Vaibhav trips n falls so the bullet hit him in the chest. The absolute horror on Vir’s face when he realises…he is completely stunned; he doesn’t even move till the inspector arrests him!!! I don’t know if it is shown on purpose but the police handcuff the same hand which has his lion wali ring – it is symbolic in a way coz that ring is always shown when Vir passes a judgement!
And then the last scene…that scene is heartbreaking yet fortifying at so many different levels! The complete trust Vir has in Purvi – he is giving her the responsibility to look after everything which he holds dear in life – his children & family! When Vir pulls his hand from Purvi’s and she runs after the police jeep, I thought my heart will not survive another moment. But it not only survived, but also mended itself at the reassurance Vir tries to convey as he tells Purvi not to run after him. With this scene PurVir’s relationship has progressed to a stage from which there is no turning back now!
Vir’s resignation& Purvi’s anguish…it is probably a decade and a half since I have felt any fictional character’s desolation to this extent! With minimal dialouges & an abundance of expressions, Amar & Priyal have completely nailed it
One of the best episodes on television in a long long time! I do not have words enough to express my appreciation to the team of this show – writer, director, actors –everyone has done such a stupendous job!!!
