About cast of MRD, I agree to disagree, the cast must be a great one, but the acting did not click for me. Just my opinion again.

Again a disagreement here... concept was based on a tradition that still exists in Raj, MP and some of the others states. The idea of child marriage is repellent but the concept was something new and the acting and presentation style complimented that.

Well Ranjana, there are plenty of books that does not reflect our lifestyle or culture but we still read them. There is space for everything, one needs to explore that and built a great storyline. BV just did not... take it as a story based on an evilish tradition.

The popularity may have given the impression of its glorifying child marriages, but the story always sticked to its negativities.

Again my opinion. 😊
,,,,,,,,,,

Agree Anshu,
Infact Let me clear my stance here when I said the concept I didt aprove of I meant the treatment of it, Why it is nice for sure but the way it is dealt with is pathetic. I also understand that child marriage do exist and it is still thriving in our nation but then if need to change a system we should not gloryfy it but try and show some positive change in that. I have seen a friend of mine given away in a marriage like that as per a tradition among Pandas of mathura. She stood against it held her ground and though she had to marry when she was 12 years but with the condidition implied that she would agree only if the family lets her study further and then let her utilise her education if she pleases. Amazing maturity that girl had for her age> Today she is a research scintist married to the same guy and is very happy. Went to her sasural after doing hr masters. I think we need to show progression and not regression. My view .

An, I think Ranjna's point is this.. glorification means making something famous by bringing it into the limelight, and getting the people around you to like it.
They have this social message at the end of every episode, but are they actually showing anything happening in the show to stop all these evl traditions? NO.
Gehna stands up every time, only to be subjugated and crushed for her defiance.
We as viewers are shocked to see a new atrocity shaping up, but then, we are made to 'learn' how the old ideologies cannot change. The way Gehna accepts those ideologies finally, so do we.
I m not in much position to argue since I dont see the show, but the general feeling I get from the promos is this only.
There is glorification happening, since, in the end, those malpractices still continue, and the protagonist, be it Anandi or Gehna, has to 'learn' them and bow down to them.
The only thing which this show is doing is to bring those malpractices and ideologies into limelight. But they are doing it to add the sensationalism with each new twist. And see, how it works. They would never show the solution to these malpractices.
SO here, we technically dont have vamps to brutalise the heroines, here the system acts as the perfect villain.

Ok... 😃 My last post and I am out of here to do some real work... 😊

These days, even I am not watching the serial... so cannot comment much, but I think, the going to school of a widowed girl, Anandi giving exams and Jigya being told by his father how it's a matter of pride that his wife is doing good in studies, I think are kind of offering solutions...

At the end of the day, it's another serial... so it won't do a quick fix and let the TRP slide. But, calling it a bad concept not suitable for urban viewing... I do not agree to that.

Me off now... 😊 and you have a cold coffee. 😃

Surekha is simply brilliant... the expression she gave when she heard the conversation between Jigya and his father ... it was just mind blowing, you can feel her anger.

It was just my opinion, I hope you did not mind that..., Enjoy your day and your Krantikari week. 😊

@ red ..... perfectly right ... Dew ........ they highlight the atrocity ...... at first there is some resistance .... then the victim becomes a willing sufferer ....... then the whole thing is glorified ....... "there is no escaping" ........ then they sit back satisfied at the rising TRPs
@ blue ..... I likes these parts too ....... but they seem too little to matter and not really highlighted ........

Hi everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joey gave me the rather sad news via PM. At first I was shocked, then I remembered Dewy saying that it might wind up. I also remembered how in one of our PMs we had said good riddance to bad rubbish. But I don't really want it to go. This is the only show I am seeing on a Hindi channel.
I watch CNBC a lot and find it excellent. When they came out with a GEC, I knew it would be different. And MRD was the first serial I saw. I was interested in it because of the backdrop of the revolutionary struggle for freedom of our country. I started watching it avidly. And while I was surfing on the internet to get more info about the serial, I stumbled upon IF. I joined in and the rest you know.
I always sided with my kudi because I liked her valour, her fervour, her grit and her heart of gold. And because Raj never saw her in kind light he became the Rat to me. I dont know the actors and I am not attached to them either. But I was attached to my lass and of course I had to tolerate the Rat. I grew fond of all of them ...... as characters not for their characteristics. I lamented when the storyline went adrift and bashed the buffoons from all sides. But I stayed on. It doesn't sadden me that the channel wants to take off MRD......... it offends me. What is the basis for this?
I dont know what the other serials are all about on the channel except for BV. So I took a small tour just now and was aghast !!!!
A channel like CNBC should show the following was a real shocker.
1. A serial showing a family duping another by marrying off their servant to a girl from that family?
2. A child marriage issue ............that's ok if it is showing criticism of the practice.
3. A father declaring his daughter insane because she has become an obstacle in his career?
4. A little servant girl being ill treated by the hiring family over and over again?
5. A dance show in which you have item girls swaying and which can leave you feeling awkward?
6. A man having more than one affairs?
Tell me people, why pull off a benign show like Mohe Rang De? If its not getting the TRPs at the prime slot, shift it to another slot.....we don't mind. But why yank it off?
This just shows one thing, two facedness. How is it that you want TRPs and want to show 'social issues'? Please channel directors dont take us for fools.
I love children......... and by this I dont mean in the ordinary way. In that sense, I like it when most of the adults in BV indulge Anandi. Every child is special and to show hours of child abuse on TV is in very poor taste.
I hope the channel will not show an indifference for the viewers of MRD and will treat them with respect. I am sure it wants the goodwill of this niche audience and will be gentlemanly enough to give a ear to our views.
I am sure most of you will agree with me.
Sorry, it's a long post but I had to pour my heart out.
A very upset Skep
