Also i would like to add..which i hadnt in my last post

advantage-the blogg...and to get info bout ur fav show

the mods r extremely nice and good at their wrk.....they know what to do when!

disadvantages-there r some ppl who r reallyy rude in their comments n call people by names which reallyy is bad!
also there r ppl who continuously bash actors and ppl around IF irrespective of others feelings... there r some ppl who dont accept a change and therefore pick on other members!

Thankyou..i seriouslyy hope action is taken ..coz despite of warnings..it doesent make any difference =(

advs: make friends, and i have made a great friend from here..thanx to IF, discuss shows/soaps/ and as I am in the UK, i get to know whats happening in the dramas before they are shown on TV!!!! yippeee1!! thats a great advantage..., talk, comment to people, and i actually enjoy reading ppls responses....I think i visit IF a few times in the day!!!!

It is actually very informative too(iv impressed my mum with the recipes i have learnt too!!!) lol

disad: it uses up my time, but i have no regrets!!

I read this topic some time ago and wanted to reply but have had a chance till now. Anyway here goes my two cents on it

What are the advantages of India-Forums? Why do you visit IF regularly/sporadically?
I'm a regular visitor on IF. Don't write as often enough, but read a bit. I work so don't get enough of time. But i generally do have a window open and come by a few times in a day. Coming to advantages

1. Friends with whom we can discuss topics that are mutually interesting - i think this is first advantage. I have met people here who make me laugh and destress after a hard day at work

2. The discussion forum - where people notice and post on various things. They make the episode lot more fun because of their comments. I have started to enjoy DMG much more after i came here, because half of the things that people notice I do not. Once i read and and watch it a second time. I have more fun.

3. Blogs - Having the feel of being so close to a celebrity is fun. being able to ask questions and get answers is even better

4. Creative gallery/Fan fics - I haven't read that many but what I've noticed we have some very creative people qand this forum is providing them with an outlet and a mode of appreciation for that. That kind of appreciation will help all of these creative people do better in future

5. Being able to easily access my posts and my friends posts - I like this new feature. I can easily go to where i stopped and read what happened in the discussion that i was participating in. Or i can look at the threads that friends have opened and be able to reply on them easily.

6. Easy access to last few threads that i have written in - although this feature does have bugs in it

7. Easy access to news - this way i don't need to go anywhere else. this feature was there precviously and in between got removed. Now I'm glad it got put back

8. This may not be accepted by lot of people - but i like the fact that we have rules and that we follow them. I've seen other forums go absolutely bad because of no rules and people just come in, cause havoc and thereby you don't have a good and fun loving place where you can hang out and have fun.

What are the disadvantages of IF? (We hope these are less 😳😳 but even if not, we'll work together to make IF an even better place!!)

1. Rudeness and when in a group coming across like high school bullies instead of being civilized has been one of my primary issue here. Yes this is the place to discuss but be open and respectful. I think that is very important. The constant need to bash either members or other actors is not necessary. Yes we understand that the other person does not like a certain person but putting that point across at every point in the other person's face is not needed. Sarcasm and cracking a joke on a person is ok - but not at someone else whom you are not friends with or you absolutely dislike. When you use sarcasm with a friend - it means that you like them you are just making fun of them. When you use sarcasm with a edge towards people whom you dislike then you are just trying to put them down and no one gains anything.

2. Some mods being biased. As far as I've seen most mods are great. But here and there you do get that feeling. But then maybe its just because we see the issues differently and they have to see it from a different angle.

3. PM's to multiple people at once - this would be a great feature. But considering your DB structure maybe its not possible. This is just my supposition of course.

How has IF helped you on a person level? Did you get a lot friends? A place to discuss your favorite shows/ideas? Do you get a lot of help on IF?

Yes its a great place to make friends. I think because of the number of people who pass through - you tend to meet someone or the other of your wavelength.

Its definitely a place for me to discuss my favourite shows - because the variety of people we have. different people notice different things and make me laugh or sigh.

Yes - help is always available. I've been able to PM people who don't know me at all and still get help. I think this works to IF's advantage that most people are very helpful.

It is a common platform for all of us that love a certain show, actor to come her and discuss and talk with members with the same interests!

Why do you visit IF regularly/sporadically?

I visit this forum very regularly.. I have made friends in the past two years that I am very close to and love to share the day with them.

What are the disadvantages of IF?

Bullies on the forum:

They constantly pass remarks or create topics to make fun of other members. Sometime outright rude and on the face. They create topics to provoke fights and unrest.

They constantly bash members, shows and even Mods!

I am more disappointed by the action taken on these members. There are too many evidences against such groups but seems like it don't make a difference!!

Wish there were stricter actions taken by the authority group.

Also: Multiple ID creations by the same member. This is a big problem!

Other than this.. I love IF.. and enjoy my time here!

I would like to add a few more advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:
1) The organization of sections has improved over the course of time

2) My personal favorite has to be the chat clubs where u can interact more easily with friends.

3) I also like the filter option under my posts.

Disadvantages:

1) there is no way to make attachments with ur PMs. Also, sending PM to multiple members is not allowed which makes pming very tedious at times.

2) Once u become a mod, it seems like nobody checks on ur bullying behavior. IF is for entertainment and if some mods play politics than they are hurting IF's image and discouraging people to come on IF. GMs should take this into consideration for the sake of IF's reputation. Let me clarify, i am not saying ALL mods r baised but some mods definitely have issues and if u become friends with them, u can get away with anything.

3) People need to realize that what members do outside of IF is not anybody's business. Therefore, it's better if u avoid sneaking into their lives. STALKING behavior from other members is definitely one of the disadvantages of IF. But i guess it's life and u r bound to find people who become obsessed with u😆. What a member says on IF should be subject to monitoring but not what they say outside of IF. I have seen some members constantly bash an actor on different places on the internet which doesnt bother me a bit. But if u r using ur side remarks and naming members and naming actors in ur posts on IF, then yes u should be held accountable for it. But then we come back to square one cuz if a certain mod likes u, u r off the hook.

So true this is one of the things I hate about IF! You see a certain group acting like the victims infront of the mods but then these people contribute to the most about of bashing on the forums!! I always see people who think that there should be stricter action taken against those people who bash, but then these same people instigate all the fights and tell people to grow up and other name calling. Stricter actions should be taken against those that contribute to the most mess on the forums and GET away with it.

Also to echo most people here, definetely the favorism by mods. Like I said, people who create the most mess on the forums get away with it just because they talk to mods outside of IF.

Also, I've seen mods of certain sections ask mods of a different section to be more strict to members they don't like.

I think all these points, for me anyway, tarnish the friendly environment that IF hopes to foster.

The IF is a great place for making friends

Its always active, one can get updates & video links of shows if missed, also lot of info about our fav stars, got to learn a lot of things from my friends here ! The Debate Mansion is a great feature of IF ! very interesting !

Disadvantage : Its too addictive ! Cant resist visiting it even when hard pressed 4 time 😛
