MJHT will always be my favorite show. It was my first show. Ahh, those memories of coming back after school and immediately going on the forum to read everyone's take on the episode. And every promo was so exciting. I'm now rewatching the show with my mom and it is still so damn funny even after 7 years. I'm at the jail track and juat love how they team up and gang up on RV.
My favorite character ever, Nupur. Mannn, I remember there was an episode without her in one of the earlier episodes and the episode felt so incomplete. Her dialogues and hand gestures were so hilarious. She brought with her so many new words some even her sister did not understand. Her "kitaabi keeda Mayank" and the "kapdo ko hangout", muft mein chandan", I will always remember her gol gol baatein.😆
The sisterly bond. Gunjan and Nupur. One of my fav scenes of their's was the one where they are lying on the terrace chit chatting while looking up at the stars. They were each other's best friend. Two different personalities bound by relation. Best portrayal of sisters I have ever seen in an Indian show.
The cool dudes. Sam and Mayank. Mayank considered Samrat as an equal and level headed person despite Sam being a part of the cool gang that Mayank used to dislike. They had so many converations where they encouraged, supported and enlightened each other. They were able to connect because of their respect for each other.
Mayank and his mom. The best mother of a guy in an Indian show. I will always remember her teasing and her strength. How real she was. How they took turns cooking for each other. She was never clad in heavy makeup nor jewelry. She was an independent lady who wouldn't let her son work because she was there to provide for him. She brought him up with the best manners, care and love.
Uday and Benji. Yaar, I member the dostana, the indirect taunts, the sarcasm and teasing. They had some of the funniest dialogues. Abishek's expressions were amazing. Their relationship can be summed up from one of their converations when Benji asks Uday, "Who is the brain and body between us?" Uday says "I'm the body." while flaunting his muscles and Benji replies with, "Phir tu apna dimaag istemaal kyun kar ra?" 🤣 ("Then why are you using your brain?")
Sam and Benji. A cool dude and his not so cool friend. Still they got along amazingly and were the best of friends. Benji, his sidekick in his every plan and whenever Sam's plan would fail, Benji would bring him back in the game again.
Sam and Dia. Ladka or ladki kabhi dost nahi ban sakte? Wrong. They were a testament to that. Sam always looked out for her and knew exactly how to treat his Candy. And Dia got over her crush on him and continued to be his longest and best girl friend.
Cool Gang and Bushan sisters. The cool gang were never evil bullies or mean people. They didn't need any dramtic change. They were just fun loving people but good at heart. They got into trouble sometimes and did wrong stuff sometimes but that was real. That's youth. The sisters didn't change the cool gang. Sammy was still a fun loving dude. Dia kept her Diva style and attitude. Uday and Benji grew even more caring and lovable. The sisters just helped them become better people.
Samrat and Gunjan. The epitome of friendship. They always put the other first. In their friendship and in their love. I loved that Gunjan took around 7 months to fall in love and Sammy almost a year. So realistic. She taught him amazing values like never lying and he stuck true to it even when she herself wavered. She saw past the cool dude image he so cherished and understood that it was important to him. He was the first person to bring her out of her shell. She changed comepletely because of him. It was natural for her to be the first to fall. In their relationship, she experience the most change in personality. I love that he considered himself undeserving of her. She was the angel of his life.
Mayank and Nupur. Here the one who experienced the most change was Mayank and he was always teased for it too. Nupur toh Nupur rahi. Yeah Mayank was still a sadu but all he had to do was say something sincere and from the heart and she'd melt. The best thing was their nok jokh never ended. Even after the project fiasco. They were at their best during the jungle track. Such fun that track was.
And some final words, I loved how each of them had their own realization track and it was so beautiful and memorabke. Each one. Mayank during the academic meet. Gunjan during holi and april fool's. Nupur during the play. And Samrat during the jail track.
MJHT was something else. The diwali party, new years, valentine's ball, holi, the play, dancing on bollywood numbers. The never ending comedy. The friendship. The love.
But above all, MJHT will always remind me of those fun college days.
